They can, and probably will (at least one), but I wouldn't go in expecting it. When they say 2019, that means their showing is pretty much 2019, and anything beyond that is a bonus.

I mean, there's SO MUCH this year already. Animal Crossing. Pokemon. Astral Chain. Dragon Quest. Luigi's Mansion. Bloodstained. Shantae. Uchikoshi's new game. The later half of the year is going to be like 2017 on steroids.
@EvilLucario The 2019 games were likely 2018 games that were delayed, we know that was at least the case with Fire Emblem Three Houses and Killer Queen Black.
I mean, what really is "Winning E3", though? Nintendo spent considerable time showing SSBU last year and it was a huge commercial success for them, and all the folks that enjoy the game.

@WebHead
Actually... I think that kinda is how you win. At least, the more they blow next years load on this year, the more they're certain to "lose" next year. Best to ration out each year's showing equally, rather than show games for next 2-3 years just to impress now, then have lackluster showings for next year and the year after.
That all said, I think the notion of "winning" e3 is silly anyways. That's not how corporations think. It's about showing an appealing product and lineup to gain customers, rather than battle like gladiators for bragging rights.

@JaxonH Agreed. I can't tell you how many games I've forgotten about because a teaser trailer or logo was shown years in advance of a product. Or conversely, how many I've given up on because of trailers that never produce a product. (looking at you, BG&E2)
The more products you can show that are cooked and being kept warm in the oven, the more coverage those products will receive because they're close to release. The more coverage that's provided before a release, the better a marketing campaign does. The better a marketing campaign does at shoving the product in faces nonstop, the better chance it has to move units.
Shareholders don't care more about popularity points or flame wars.

You can win a price war, and hey, throw the confetti, you won! And killed your entire bottom line to achieve it. Yay?
You can "win" e3 by showing every game in development, if ya wanted to. And sure, you would "win". And kill your entire 3 year lineup in order to achieve it. On top of that, games shown go MIA, and consumers lose faith than anything you show will actually materialize, killing hype for any future announcements you happen to have left.
But hey, throw the confetti... right?

@EvilLucario Honestly at this point it feels like VR is why they didn't go to E3 this year, most of the upcoming games are VR and VR's very difficult to show off in a traditional setting like a conference.
With Iceborne now having a specific release date (September 6th), we now know the minimum amount of time Capcom won't mention anything about Switch MH if there is one after MHGU.
@Grumblevolcano
Which really isn’t that long from now, tbh. I suspect the Switch MH will release mid-2020, with an announcement this during the fall Direct or early winter 2020 Direct.
You know it’s coming. Even low budget MH games on 3DS consistently sold 4-5 million, and that was before the series was popular in the west. Even World barely managed to put up numbers like that on a single platform (and in fact, barring PS4 I don’t think any platform did). So the next portable MH is certainly on the way, as teased by the director of the portable entries with his N-E-X-T clue (and vaguely teased by King Zell, and “leaked” by 2 other sources, of which at least 1 is credible).
Not to mention, they’ll be wanting to capitalize on the Switch Mini, as will Nintendo who is keen to repeat the strategy used with 3DS (as evidenced by this year’s lineup). People shouldn’t underestimate the Mini. That thing is gonna propel Switch back to 3DS-tier software sales in Japan. And with Pokémon (presumably) followed by Monster Hunter starting at the end of this year, I have no doubt we’ll see a surge in interest from JP 3rd parties.
I don’t think we’ll see 3 MH games on Switch this gen, but we’ll certainly see 2 (MH Gen Ultimate and the NEXT entry). Although... if it releases 2020, they’re not going to let all that work go to waste. Probably churn out a sequel 2-3 years later at the end of the Switch’s lifespan. So we may see 3 after all.

I'm not entirely sure why people are mad at this, judging from Twitter and some parts of Reddit. You can download Tetris 99 even without the subscription as far as I can tell (visited Nintendo's site in incognito and it shows up fine), so you can just buy the DLC and go from there. That DLC would act as a $10 game with quite a few modes available.
It's the same thing Fortnite does with Save the World. Battle Royale is free, Save the World costs $30.
Metroid, Xenoblade, EarthBound shill
I run a YouTube/Twitch channel for fun. Check me out if you want to!
Please let me know before you send me a FC request, thanks.
@Aozz101x awesome!! Going to buy that right now. Great add on for a free game that I've sunk many hours into. Happy to give them some coin for the dlc!!
