It's exactly what you think it means. It's what to do if your stuff isn't synced.
But I'll write it a different way for fun ...
//"When automatic backup is enabled, save data will be backed up once the software is closed or while the console is in sleep mode."
IF(ISNULL({save.backup}) AND {subscription.activity_state="ACTIVE"})
THEN (save_data.sync="UPLOAD")
ELSE (save_data.sync="DOWNLOAD")

As for what I'm playing, I'll try BotW's VR mode tonight, finish the last builds in the LABO VR starter kit tomorrow (a Pinwheel & the non-VR Switch holder thing), and after that it'll be off to Boxboy+Boxgirl.
Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)
I just bought a new 4K 50" TV from work for what was the master bedroom, now my office and studio, pushed a two seat sofa upstairs and got a new bed for my mother who can barely get upstairs.
Methinks im gonna ignore games for a bit. Im very sore.
Now Playing: Mario & Luigi Brothership, Sonic x Shadow Generations
Now Streaming: The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom
Man, where’s the talk of all the games that just released. People here do actually play their Switch, right?
Hopefully that just means folks are gaming. I'm inching my way through Dragon's Dogma (I can't cheat this time around. When I played on 360 I had a buddy that had a high level pawn that didn't get out classed until halfway through DA, so I was able to level very quickly, but it is still fun, just means I'll be grinding a bit)
Working on Dragon's Dogma, Portia, Kirby and Octopath. Want to finish Kirby before I get Yoshi. Octopath is just cleaning up side quest and getting to the final boss. Looking forward to AC III and Saints Row. I know a lot of folks are meh about the ports because they are ports, but for me Switch allows me to take my time when before I had to rush through games because I was shackled to a tv, yet I finish more games now lol.
I am going to get the Kunio-kun and Mana games during golden week but no clue when I'll spin them up. My free time is shrinking as I'm getting more active in work and other hobbies.

I'm a Dream Fighter. Perfume is Love, Perfume is Life.
I haven't been playing on my Switch recently, but that's only because I have a massive backlog of games. Kingdom Hearts 1.5 + 2.5, Risk of Rain 2 runs (SO DAMN GOOD), Ace Combat 7, the list goes on.
Metroid, Xenoblade, EarthBound shill
I run a YouTube/Twitch channel for fun. Check me out if you want to!
Please let me know before you send me a FC request, thanks.
i got an micro sd card coming, so now i can finally pick up more switch games to play.
i'll probably start off getting the games that i've missed in 2017, (Splatoon 2 and Mario and Rabbids, etc.)
my Micro SD Card will be used for digital, while the switch's 32gb memory will be used for physical. since the data from the cartridge are smaller.
My Top 10 Games
1. Judgement
2. Baldur's Gate 3
3. Bully (Rockstar)
4. Person 4 / Golden
5. Sonic Adventure 2

@Ryu_Niiyama
Ya, right now it feels like a golden age, getting all these games on a hybrid handheld device.
I suspect it won’t last forever. Eventually they’ll run out of games to port at this massive rate, and/or people like me who haven’t played most of them, will eventually get to a point where I played most of them. That day will come...
@gcunit
I mean ya, it may partly explain it. But... so do I, just not on a handheld device (barring FFX/X-2) and that is exciting for a lot of people. Not to mention, a lot of people don’t have those games anywhere. There’s always a massive chunk of people interested in great games ported over though, even on other systems, as Dragons Dogma, Darksiders and FFX/X-2 are all ports themselves on PS4, which didn’t stop anyone from buying (perhaps even yourself, if that’s those are the versions you own).
I think being ports lessens demand, but being on a hybrid system mitigates alot of that, and being on Nintendo where the Fanbase will have never been exposed to those games before unless they are multiconsole owners (and even some multiconsole owners may have never played them- me, for example) . I’ve seen a few new game releases that sell less than quality ported games.
More fuel to the Switch Mini fire, GAME stops accepting trade-ins for everything to do with the 3DS family of devices (software, accessories, hardware) on May 11th.
Not accepting software? Heck, this would be the ideal time I'd go to gamestop to get used copies of games and bolster my 3DS library since I'd think this would be the time non-collectors would be unloading theirs.
The only problem with that is the fact that a good chunk of Gamestop 3DS inventory are loose cartridges without game cases. Unless that sort of thing doesn't bother you?
@Magician
That was true for DS, but for 3DS I’ve always noticed they have cases at my GS. Idk if people have just become better about that sort of thing over time, or if they pay significantly less without a case, But there’s never been any loose copies of 3DS game carts at my GS
