@EvilLucario That reminds me, I still haven't cleared it because of some issues that happened two months ago. Perhaps after I clear Breath of the Wild (again), I will continue from where I left my progress.

For real Switch is clearly a success. Switch owners should not have to deal with this semi-blackmail for ports anymore.

@WebHead It's always going to be problematic, as long as Switch is the weak console it'll keep being treated like that. Or maybe if stuff like xCloud end up successful, 3rd parties like Capcom will just completely ditch native Switch support in favour of cloud versions.

@Grumblevolcano To be honest, even if the Switch was on par with the competition in terms of power, we would still see games missing the system or these kinds of “buy game X and we will consider game Y”. Third party publishers will always view Nintendo consoles as problematic in terms of sales.

Xbox sees this all the time with Japanese publishers. Even after Phil Spencer went to Japan to effectively beg for games to be ported, a lot still miss the system.

At the end of the day, if a publisher doesn’t feel their games will sell well enough then it won’t come, no matter how powerful the console is.

@WebHead Hmm...you do realise, when they say buy x and we will release y, they already have plans to release y and they are simply trying to increase sales of x.

We are also entering an area where there is just too many game on and coming to the Switch that even a higher profile title can get lost in the sea of games. Of course if DMC 5 is launched same day as the others it would have a much better chance then a year or more later. AC 3 remaster will be a title that a year ago might have done ok but I just don't see many people buying it when it does come out.

The earlier games should be ported first anyway. Just saying switch owners shouldnt have to be blackmailed like that anymore. I figure the userbase as a whole has already accepted that thry have to wait longer to get big AAA ports.

That sort of blackmail doesn't really hold up anymore. People know how well third party games can do on Switch now, which is why the system is getting flooded with ports. How much money Capcom wants to make from the Switch player base is on them.

Although I'd rather see remastered ports of the PS2 games than a downgraded port of this, to be perfectly honest.

Yeah, I would rather a DMC collection. Considering it's probably hard enough for a slower paced game like Re7 to make it on the console, I imagine DMC5 would be pretty difficult with its constant on screen action

I’d rather see the Collection, DMC4 and DMC reboot myself. Just because those games were built for less powerful systems, and would look and run better than a downscaled version of 5. That said I’d take 5 also if they want to bring it.

At the end of the day I don’t think that guy cares one iota about Dragons Dogma selling well. It’s not his game, after all. But I do think people who make games have to be sold on whether the juice is worth the squeeze. And that’s an individual decision each game director/producer will make. For this guy, The metric he sees valuable is Dragon Dogma performance. And I think it’s a reasonable metric because it is a mature themed franchise that has never been on Nintendo before. And if that mature themed franchise it’s never been on Nintendo before does well, then there’s a pretty good chance his mature themed franchise that’s never been on Nintendo before would also do well.

At the end of the day we have to remember that Nintendo spent the last 20 years alienating third parties and that’s not going to magically be fixed with 24 months on the Switch. We’ve seen Tecmo Koei games bomb hard, indicating there’s just not a fan base for those games on the system. So while most games have performed well, some haven’t. And it seems to me he just wants to be sure before committing to a new platform.

The other possibility is he wanted and meant to say “if the HD Collection does well, we’ll bring it”, but it hasn’t yet been announced and he couldn’t spill the beans, so he just said Dragons Dogma instead.

Oh, and I got a pile of harder-to-obtain physical releases in the mail today. Had a custom English cover made for the Ace Attorney Trilogy

Switch is crashing ALOT today playing MK8D. We played for several hours in 4 player mode and then I started trying to play 1 player mode time trials and the controller was constantly disconnecting and the switch occasionally crashing.

Nintendo wants me to initialize it, if I follow this procedure is it likely to help and will it save all my game saves for MK8?

Let me add this, I have the game backed up online, should I try a full initialize and let the internet restore it? Any risk of losing my saves? Ive never done this before.

On one hand these constant tests seem baffling, but on the other hand I honestly wonder if these companies like Capcom and Bandai Namco still feel like Switch owners buying third party games the way they have been is some sort of fluke. It's honestly hard to blame them if that's the case considering the past 20 years of people not buying them.

I don’t even think the game has been confirmed yet, though a “multi platform release” was noted in a classification alongside a leak for the game.

@IceClimbers from what I understand third party games have been doing decently well on switch. Not as good as PS or Xbox but the sales are there.

I hope it will include 99Vidas Switch version in physical release.
99Vidas has been released in physical on PS4 & PS vita version before, so i really hope it will be released in physical retail for Switch version.
And also.... Farm Together in physical release.
