At this point wouldn't it be better for Nintendo to give gold points instead?

Don’t they just discount the not as popular stuff in that region as birthday offers so they can attract more sales? That could explain why two different people have the same discounts.

@GyroZeppeli they always give discounts on firstparty Nintendo games and virtual console. Sad thing is these games discounts are games everyone would buy.example I bought mario kart 8 2014 and they gave me a discount 2018 when the switch was already out too.

@1UP_MARIO Now that I think about it, that’s pretty much the criteria that they had during my last birthday offer (I was offered MP Trilogy, Starfox Zero, and some other things I can’t remember).

Edit: If it shows that I double posted, it was accidental. Blame Comcast’s awful WiFi.

@nintendobynature you won’t be disappointed. All the games available to you and no waiting for releases. Enjoy

@nintendobynature As long as you got it cheap, it has really good value in terms of games and applications.

@nintendobynature Good thing you got a refurbished console, makes it a lot cheaper than boxed and sometimes more reliable than used systems.

@nintendobynature Hmm, while I'm glad you got a Wii U, I'm worried about it being refurbished. Plus, since Nintendo drop support for the Wii U after they said it was a colossal failure, who knows when they will shut down the Wii U eShop.

refurbished consoles have a high risk, but if you're willing to take the risks, then I say enjoy the Wii U if you want to play classic games on the Wii U's Virtual Console. Though it won't be long until Nintendo starts adding SNES games and possibly more to the Switch's Online Service, but that's my two cents on that.

While I do think we’ll eventually get SNES on Switch, I don’t think it’s gonna be any time soon, and I definitely don’t think we’ll see anything beyond SNES... not this generation anyways.

Congrats on the Wii U, btw. I’m sure it’ll be fine. Even the Wii shop hasn’t been taken down yet, and it was basically a rental. Wii U was the start of the eShop we know today. I don’t think it’s going to be removed for a long time, and even when it is, you can still buy physical games. But you’ve got a looooong time to stock up on VC before we even begin to hit the ballpark 15 year mark at which online stores get shut down. And, I’d highly recommend modding the vWii mode to play GameCube games from SD card, since Nintendo isn’t selling GC games on the shop anyways. I stayed away from modding the actual Wii U though, for reasons I won’t get into. Suffice it to say, just getting it to play my GC Collection was all I really cared about. ALTHOUGH, tossing a GBA and SNES emulator on the Wii menu for fan translated versions of Fire Emblem Genealogy of the Holy War, Thracia 776 and Binding Blade can’t hurt.

Isaiah 53:5 (700 yrs before Christ)

Zachariah 12:10 (500 yrs before Christ)
They will look on Me whom they pierced

The risk on a refurb isn’t any higher than a straight used. @JaxonH I’m gonna have to look into vWii for my GameCube play, too. I was under the impression the entire box had to be CFW to mod vWii. I’ve still got three GameCube discs somewhere around here, so that’s at least 3 more games

@JackEatsSparrows it only take under 30 minutes or less. It’s a great feature and gamecube games look great and work off tv aswell.

@1UP_MARIO Say whaaaat? That’s awesome. I think I’ve got a cold trying to develop, so it’d be nice to play some Sunshine on the couch in handheld

@JackEatsSparrows I’ve only softmodded the Wii mode in 2015 and that was for my gamecube games but I’m sure the modding community has advanced but I’m just happy with widescreen gamecube games at 480p

@shadow-wolf resolution wise the Wii and WiiU versions of N64 Zelda's are pretty much the same maybe some minor improvements but I could be wrong as it is a long long time since I played Wii VC and when I did it was on a lot smaller television than the ones I own now. However, the titles (especially N64) still look great even without an improved resolution. I think some of your issues with the N64 Zelda's could be down to the fact that, by design, they were quite dark and muggy by design anyway and I dont think an improved resolution would really help. Mario 64 (far superior to the DS version)/Wave Race 64/Paper Mario and more still really shine on VC. In fact I'd go as far as to say every N64 game on there is a must buy for one reason or another and the reason I am buying one every month until I have them all.

I think other consoles have some great titles there as well. GBA and SNES are well represented with an abundance of classics, the NES selection is good but with a lot of these titles being available for free on Switch right now and the fact they are quite primitive means I'm not that big a fan. Earthbound: Beginnings is a nice curiosity though. The Wii selection is good but its nothing you probably don't already own but nice if there's something you want that is hard to come by for whatever reason. It's only the DS section I have skipped myself and that is mostly because well I don't know I just wasn't massively into the DS the titles available have some gems that I should get around to playing sometime but I'm in no rush.

If you have an Xbox 360/Xbox One there are some great options for playing Rares N64 output. Rare Replay contains Rare at there absolute peak with some key improvements to bring them into the modern era.

All of this WiiU talk has me hankering to play Wind Waker HD again. I could fire it up right now but (wild prediction that likely won't happen) I would like to see a Switch port unveiled this month in a direct....

@GyroZeppeli thank you! I'm pumped and it seems to be working just fine. Top left (not back ) trigger seems to be a little clunky but everything else looks good
