@JaxonH Man, you're really making me want to play XCX. With how busy I was during the Wii U era, I couldn't keep up with releases (ironic, I know) so the two big JRPGs (XCX/TMS#FE) remain the only titles I wanted to play that I haven't. If it was on Switch I would right now... too bad the Wii U isn't portable. Or not that portable anyways.
@link3710 XCX is great and all, but if you're going to buy one game for your WiiU, and you're a fan of Atlus JRPGs at all, just buy TMS#FE. Forget Smash. Buy TMS#FE. It's just one of the most memorable games I've ever played. Sorely underrated gem.
@NEStalgia I own both already tbh. It's more a matter of finding the time to play them, since only about 5% of my gaming time is at home. I'll start with TMS#FE once I finish XC2 then though, cause by then we should have the January direct. If we're getting a port anytime soon, that's when we'll find out.
Bloomberg is reaching my point... 2 months after me !
"The Switch is on track to reach 35 million unit shipments by March, according to the average of eight analysts’ estimates compiled by Bloomberg, short of Nintendo’s target of 38 million."
@Link-Hero It's not a remake. That's Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap that was an HD remake. This is an all new entry in the series developed by the same team that did the HD remake of Dragon's Trap.
@link3710 You'll never be accepted, you're supposed to get it wrong for 6 months and then make a last minute breakthrough as though the data has now shown you the way.
"After cramming its best franchises — Super Mario, Zelda and Splatoon — into the first 12 months, the Kyoto-based company was left with fewer games to show off in the second year, hurting hardware sales. Cardboard accessories introduced in April, called Nintendo Labo, have mostly failed to expand interest beyond those who were already planning to pick up a Switch."
"Apart from potential price cuts and new models, the other key to regaining momentum will be new games. Nintendo is planning big releases next year, including a new Animal Crossing game, a Pokemon title and the latest installment of its Metroid series."
I guess they just ignored the presence of Let's Go and Smash as potentially driving hardware sales?
Meh, Pachter's on the case, so I'm sure he'll let us know when to turn our 'handhelds' off and close the door.

@Octane
The unfortunate thing is, I think most modern 3rd-person games like that do have bad combat. But there's a big distinction: hand-to-hand like the Batman games and the new Spiderman game, or predominantly ranged gunplay like GTA games, Watchdogs, Uncharted, etc. Witcher is kind of a permutation of both.
I could barely drag myself through the Uncharted games.
I used to like the Tomb Raider reboot, but it's getting old and I'm not sure I can force myself to finish the 3rd one.
The GTA games have always made me frustrated with the combat controls, and with that is lumped the Red Dead games.
The Arkham combat system was fun at first and seemed novel (but in actuality it's not), and it's essentially the mold that every third person game is trying to match when it comes to hand-to-hand combat, but I'm not so hot on it anymore. It's probably my preferred system if given a choice with something more GTA/Red Dead, though.
Again, just me. I prefer something like Dark Souls. I just hate the near-constant reliance on watching for tells (and sometimes actual on-screen icons) to just counter, counter, counter everything as the most effective way of fighting.
So they're predicting the Switch will sell about 17 million... the same as last year. I don't know why they're making it sound like sales have decreased by a wide margin.
I mean, it is true that most games have average combat. Games like Bayonetta, Devil May Cry, and Dark Souls which are all about the combat excel due to good enemy designs and how they play. Bayonetta and DMC encourage dancing around the enemy and looking cool as hell while you slice and dice them with a myriad of combos. Dark Souls doesn't have a combo game like Bayo/DMC, but the deliberate and weighty combat mixed with enemies balanced around what you got and your stamina.
In every single game, there's always an aspect to it that will suffer to prop up something else. In Zelda/Witcher, the combat suffers due to the emphasis on the world design. In Dark Souls, some extremely half-baked content (the second half of Dark Souls 1 is garbage compared to the first half). In Bayonetta, it's simply only a 10 hour game compared to Dark Souls' 30 hours. In Xenoblade, general polish compared to how much game and story there is.
Unfortunately for most games now, the aspect that gives the most nowadays is the combat.
Metroid, Xenoblade, EarthBound shill
I run a YouTube/Twitch channel for fun. Check me out if you want to!
