I wonder how long we'll have to wait for the next Direct? The recent rumors suggested July, but clearly that didn't come through. And now we're less than a couple months away from the online service going live. Nintendo has to be (HAS TO BE) airing a Direct sometime between now and before then.
Right?
Anywho, I'm always eager to hear news more news on third party support, since the rest of 2018 is pretty locked up exclusive-games-wise. August, Monster Hunter. September, Labo Vehicle Kit. October, Super Mario Party. November, Pokémon Lets Go. And December, Super Smash Bros.
Switch Physical Collection - 1,536 games (as of December 14th, 2025)
Switch 2 Physical Collection - 4 games (as of December 8th, 2025)
@Knuckles-Fajita Oh jeez, arcades are going 8-bit indie retro now too? Even when the arcades were seriously big the whole thrill was they looked better than the 8-bit NES
I find it more interesting now after finding that out (if it has arcade stick support to match the cabinet), and I looked it up but it still seems....but this isn't exactly street fighter. There's 40 of them, moreso bar/arcade-bar settings than actual arcades, and it seems oriented around party play 5v5. Yeah, perfect for Switch, so I get it on the 1-2-Switch level of marketing now. Fun if you have a big group and a lot of controllers.
@Grumblevolcano Yeah, colloquially we have some messed up months. We consider June "summer" and September "Fall" and December Winter, with March alternately being spring or fall depending on how the weather goes. It's largely based on meteorological seasons, but calendar seasons are another thing. I recall in the past Nintendo counts Summer by the calendar, Jul, Aug, Sep, and Spring as Apr, May, Jun.

Eh, btw. I just only predicted, not exactly 100 % accurate, but hopefully....
I’m predicting the next Direct on either the 14th, 15th, 17th or 24th as they’re the weekdays I’m on Afternoons and won’t be able to watch. It’s as scientific as you can get.
@Grumblevolcano Heresabunchofgamesomeofyoumaybeinterestedin, also Pokemon. Finally T H E Y ' R E A L L H E R E I N S U P E R S M A S H B R O . S ! ! ! ! ! ! !
@NEStalgia I was actually thinking about the future with my comment. I decided to look back at the September 2017 Direct and when watching it I remembered back to the Nintendo Life chat complaining the Xenoblade 2 segment went on way too long. What's in the Xenoblade 2 slot this year? Smash.
@Tsurii It is though I wouldn't be surprised if the next Direct has large spotlight sections for Super Mario Party and Smash similar to how the September 2017 Direct had large spotlight sections for Super Mario Odyssey and Xenoblade 2.
@Grumblevolcano Hmm, funny thing is I don't remember a long XC2 segment in any directs last year....and considering it's a big series for me, that's surprising. Though I largely don't remember the September direct at all. In fact I basically don't remember any directs at all in the post-Iwata era which says something not good about how they're handling them. They're so far and few between and so pre-packaged PR they don't really stand out in the mind, defeating their real value. With Iwata we'd get one every few months. After that we get like 2 a year + E3 + maybe some mini one game focused one and the ones we get they call "mini directs" as though only E3 is a real Direct now. Was that the one that had Dark Souls with a still frame and the Smash logo at the end? I kinda remember it now. Doesn't seem like that was September.
They really need to, IMO, think about what Directs are for, and why they actually do them....it doesn't seem like they really have a focus on why they do it anymore. Bigger news gets dropped on Twitter.
@NEStalgia Dark Souls at the end was January Mini Direct and Smash at the end was March Direct (Dark Souls did appear in the March Direct but was actual gameplay). The big reveals of the September 2017 Direct were 3rd party support like DOOM.
I do not know if anyone has told this here, but this 'August 3rd Direct' leak/rumor is getting traction on Twitter. Apparently, searching for Nintendo Direct on Google will pull out the results. Among the links, the official Nintendo site says 3rd August. Could just be Google's glitch, but it started happening 2 or 3 days ago. It seems strange to me, because usually it would be fixed within a day. It would already have been fixed in an instant, yet it's not being fixed.
It might link up with that image that was posted a week ago - where apparently in that image a user on Discord says he saw that same Direct on Nintendo Spain, but was taken down very shortly after. He said to 'remember the date is day/month/year', because you could mistake it for the March direct.
I'd already made a thread, but someone just locked my thread by saying it won't happen. I'm a bit doubtful, because this is getting popularity and debate. If there really is no Direct on that date, I will apologize, but the sources are not mine.
It just seems suspicious to me. First, that Direct leak of Nintendo Spain happened last week, and now that Google is showing the same thing. Is it just all a mishap, or could there really be a direct?
Again, sorry. I'm a new user here and thought I'd share this information with you. I know you are calling this fake, and I know how you feel when you want to call it fake. I'm giving it very low hope as well, but I'd love to be wrong about it not happening.
