@gcunit I have doubts FFVII remake will come to PS4, it feels like one of those FFXV/KH3 situations where enough delays happen that it ends up a next gen game.

@Knuckles-Fajita, re: Ys VIII post game dungeon. Probably took me maybe a couple hours playtime to work my way through it (though a lot of that was probably me waiting around for my health to regenerate). 4th floor was the most annoying thanks to all those Hydroskelos (I despise those things, and just ended up running past them all. Any other enemy I can fight pretty easily, but I just can't deal with more than one of these things.

@kobashi100, the motion controls in the Taiko demo? I got used to them pretty quickly, and at least on the easier two difficulties, I'm able to get the gold crown ranking pretty regularly.

Meanwhile, the final DLC mission in Assault Gunners HD Edition is so soul crushingly difficult (read: unfair) that I may give up on it. I even took a hit to my pride and lowered the difficulty to easy just to see it be done with, but even that is just too much. I've never had to replay any other mission more than three times (on normal, no less), but after more than a dozen tries with no progress seemingly being made, just thinking about it makes me sick.

I know I really shouldn't care since I've long since cleared the main game, but it's just so frustrating leaving exactly one mission hanging, extra or otherwise.

@RR529 I found floor 1 to be the worst. Sure Hydroskelos are annoying, but it wasn't like being swarmed with the stuff on Floor 1.

The dungeon was a good 4-6 hours though. Interesting that chest at the very end with the two Lv99 thing in terrified me more than the boss. The boss was nice for a superboss, not insane. Just fun

@DarthNocturnal @Tsurii Yeah, Doshin the Giant is on GameCube in Europe, I have a copy. Don't worry though, you're not missing out!

@Knuckles-Fajita, yeah, the first floor did have tons of enemies, but there was usually enough space between groups that I was able to wait around for my health and skill gauges to refill, so I'd just jump into every group initiating my super first thing, which helped out a lot. The boss was fun, but the reward you get for pushing through all that is pretty meh, IMO.

If Switch doesn't get KHIII (and yea, it's not... at least not initially), a KH collection would be insanely awesome. And it's not a total dead-end wish because KH games have been on Nintendo hardware. There's a history there.

As for the other rumors, I don't really know much of those other games, but I have been thinking that Nintendo is "due" for a sweeping Mario 64 remake/update sometime soon. I'm surprised they haven't already done it, actually.

@RR529 It's meh, but also kinda cool. It's a bit insane that New Game + exists though. Thats what the reward is for. Adol only no items mode

@rallydefault I've heard that Sony has the exclusive rights to Kingdom Hearts I and II, so a collection isn't even possible, sadly. KHIII will probably come to the Switch late. Too bad most of us will have played it long before then.

@Harmonie There's no reason the Switch couldn't play Re:CoM, the Days and Coded movies, BBS HD, and DDD HD though. That's still a decent chunk of KH, especially if they... actually... remade Days. Like they should.

Who would want to play of those except for Birth By Sleep, though? KH1, KH2, and Birth By Sleep are really the only good ones imo.

@link3710 Who wants to purchase a vastly inferior collection to what came out for the PS4, though?

Gotta remember these are the fans who were adamant Animal Crossing would show up despite no evidence whatsoever and were mad at Nintendo for that expectation not being met.

Well, except there actually was this whole deal about the website receiving some undercover changes that really pointed toward something coming months before E3. Also Animal Crossing is overdue for a new title. The last Animal Crossing, New Leaf, was released in Fall of 2012 in JP. Before now, the widest (JP) gap we had between AC releases was of four years - CF and NL.

So I'd say it was very fair for AC fans to at least expect some news, even if it was just a short reveal. And I mean if they have one, they should have shown it because Nintendo didn't really have much to show at this E3 and it really would have helped round things out.

I mean, yeah, if we're counting spin-offs then you can't fail to mention Pocket Camp, which came out last year. Amiibo Festival, Happy Home Designer, and Pocket Camp are all spin-offs.

The fact they were willing to announce Fire Emblem Three Houses but not Animal Crossing Switch is very telling about release date. It's probably a holiday 2019 release at the earliest.

Well at least AC is guaranteed to come anyways, because AC is wildly popular unlike Metroid and Xenoblade.

And before you bring up the Wii U, that didn't even get its own Zelda. That speaks more about the Wii U than AC itself.

@EvilLucario Huh? Am I misreading what you said? Breath of the Wild was most definitely Wii U's Zelda. It ended up getting delayed and released on the Switch at the same time so the Switch could have a great launch (except for those of us who already owned a Wii U. lol), but it was developed for the Wii U. Much like Twilight Princess was a GCN game that ended up releasing on the Wii as well.

I'd wager that toward the end of its lifespan (like Skyward Sword on the Wii), the Switch will get its own exclusive 3D Zelda.

I understood why no Animal Crossing ever came to the Wii U. I saw how much 'effort' was put into City Folk on the Wii. Any AC within the timeframe of the Wii U's lifespan it had would have likely ended up being similar and rushed.

But I do hope that Nintendo realizes that people are going to expect a lot out of the Switch's Animal Crossing.

Harmonie

EvilLucario

@Harmonie That is true, but I wager history is going to remember BotW as the Switch launch game that kicked off the system instead of the Wii U's swan song. That's really what I mean by "its own Zelda"; because BotW was multiplatform between the Wii U and Switch, the Wii U got snubbed its own exclusive Zelda.

But anyways, I do expect a mainline AC to come to the Switch sooner rather than later. Nintendo would be foolish not to, considering AC sells extremely well and mixing that with the Switch is pretty much guaranteed profit.

@DarthNocturnal Oh, it's been a long time since I really thought on that one. City Folk just didn't have much going for it as opposed to previous entries. It did not really do anything revolutionary. I'd say it was Wild World with shiny graphics and the return of holidays, but actually, it's worse than Wild World in many areas. The big ones I can think of being the animal villagers which only had one phase conversations, meaning you'd get the same thing repeated to you over and over and over again. They also removed the animal pictures from Wild World. Maximum house size was taken back down to GCN level (People always loved to argue that this was made up for with the return to four houses like in the GCN version, but I always knew that was nonsense, and sure enough, New Leaf releases where everyone gets their own house and all of them can be built up to mansion sizes, like it should be) Motion controls were unnecessarily forced in so many areas, it made pattern-making undoable for me. The city - the game's biggest 'feature', was pretty much just an amalgamation of special visitors from past games. Special visitors visiting your town on certain days was no longer a thing anymore, since they were now always there with only a small number of exceptions. So basically this feature they built the whole advertising of the game around ended up taking away from the game.

It's easy for people to forget these blunders after how amazing New Leaf turned out being, but I will not forget, and thus will always be skeptical at new Animal Crossing games. I really hope they're on their top game for the Switch, like New Leaf.

@EvilLucario I understand, and it's true that at the end of the day, the Wii U doesn't have its own exclusive Zelda. But I will still credit BoTW to the Wii U before I will the Switch.

Harmonie

link3710

@Harmonie That's why remakes of Days and Re:Coded would pretty much be necessary as selling points. Not saying that I think it'd happen, just that it's possible.

@DarthNocturnal To add onto what Harmonie said, City Folk was also missing the island from the GCN version, the soccer ball (has that ever come back?). Also, they added an auction house which... let's just say the flea market was a huge improvement over that in pretty much every way. Suffice to say, it's the only Animal Crossing game I gave up on after a week or two.
