@Anti-Matter No, I meant I don't think the X1X is a very good fit (at all) for someone without very fast, very unlimited internet. It's just a total bandwidth hog in terms of the amount of data it wants to consume, even for physical disc buyers. Patches are enormous in part due to the very high resolution textures. (Next gen consoles should be a similar nightmare overall.)

@gcunit Fair enough....all 15 people that read that thread have already seen it Though console UI and preference comparisons can and do come up again and again and again in every thread. Kind of like Fortnite posts.

@Joeynator3000 Hmm, how did you dust it out btw? I've had drifting sticks before (a half dozen 360 controllers, one GamePad, etc.) but recently my ARMS yellow left joycon has been a little weird. In Aces it keeps characters running in one direction often and I have to fight it back (but it shows no drift in the test screen or other games) but in XC 2 I've noticed my character walks rather than runs left and right unless I press hard on the stick. In the test screen the little ball indeed doesn't cross the outer ring unless I press harder, only left and right. I do have different grip caps on it so they could be interfering. I've calibrated a few times but the rotational movement seems to show full range and calibrates it to "full" potential. I haven't tried removing the cap, but I really don't want to....the bare sticks are so much less comfortable.

Hmm, I've heard about drifting sticks lately but I haven't been struck with them personally. Sucks for those with them though.

@EvilLucario Yeah it's sucky. X360 was notorious for it. I went through so many controllers. X1, but particularly the Elite is infamous for it. It happens almost guaranteed to 100% of Elites. GamePad did it to me, but it was after some Splatoon/Bayonetta abuse for a year so I may forgive that one. Joycon, I really can't tell. I did have some drift after the darned toilet games in South Park, but after calibrating, in the test screen it's rock stable. I do have the limited motion range thing going on that I can't tell if it's the cap or calibration (but my other joycon doesn't have the issue) but it's never off-center in the test screen, yet Aces sends characters running like it's drifting.

@NEStalgia Hard to explain WHERE exactly, but I have a dusting air can thing. There's this small rubber flap thing that you can lift up, I just put the air tube under that and sprayed it some. It doesn't go away completely but it took care of it so that it wouldn't mess with me during most games.

As anyone with common sense predicted, Amazon is starting to scale back their 20% game discount to not include remasters or re releases. I imagine that's a hit for any of the upcoming wii u ports.

@MisterPi Where are you getting this from? Captain Toad is still showing the 20% discount for me.

@MisterPi I'm starting to loathe amazon. They've been manipulating prices with "sales" to not offer 20% for a while now. In traditional Amazon fashion they notify nobody of policy changes, one day policy or price is just different as you go to check out and there's no reasoning as to why or what's going on. Sunday deliveries show up one day, are free. Then free as a 2 day result. Then change to free with $35 in your cart even for Prime members. If they have a policy that's fine, but TELL PEOPLE what the policy is rather than making random changes constantly and letting customers figure it out by trial and error. Rereleases being excluded is just incredibly lame. No doubt Best Buy dropping their GCU (which is the only reason Amazon started 20% to begin with) is the reason. Game Stop may become the best place to buy games once my GCU expires, lol. Might have to become a Pro member.

It has the opposite effect they think it will have. I'm not much less likely to buy any game day 1. The 20% was a good carrot to dangle to get me to buy in. Without it, I'll just wait for $30 PSN/XBL sales and wait for used/discounted Switch prices more often.

Grumblevolcano

@MisterPi It could also affect Pokemon and Smash. Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee seems to pretty much be a Yellow remake and although Smash isn't a port, whether there's enough new content for Amazon to allow the 20% discount is yet to be seen (I think we'll see the main bulk of the new content like a month or 2 before launch).

@Ralizah Maybe Nintendo's pulling the trick they did with Tropical Freeze and Captain Toad will be removed from the NA eshop before launch.

@Grumblevolcano I've seen multiple promoted ads around Reddit that say "pre-order Smash Ultimate for 20% off with Amazon Prime". I don't think they can get away with letting that go without a ton of complaints.

Though personally I don't know if I should buy physical because of the Amazon Prime discount or digital because I can have it anywhere. Except for Splatoon 2 (which is primarily online-focused), I have all of my multiplayer games digital for that reason.

@Grumblevolcano I wonder if FIFA is affected?

Seriously though, Let's Go isn't a remake so it's fine (but of course the kit with the Pokeball doesn't apply anymore), Starlink won't apply (comes with the toys.). Collectors editions don't apply already as well. Wonder about Tales of Vespyria....technically a remaster/rerelease. FFVII will be an interesting case. So many games are remasters and rereleases, this basically says "20% off any new release game that is still incomplete and will be selling DLC for $20 in the next 12 weeks." Basically, if this is true, 20% off no longer exists for any practical purpose.

I still have a year and a half of GCU thankfully, but after that, I might as well go for used or expand digital to Switch as well. At least Nintendo gives me cash points back. Which of course doesn't involve buying through Amazon or Best Buy. Great job throwing business away, guys!

Alright, I got my HDMI splitter, and surround sound is now working on Switch......Except now I don't feel like playing MHXX....also, thunderstorm. xD

EDIT: Of course...I can't use surround sound on Hyrule warriors to find the skulltulas. xD

That policy of no discount for remasters and remakes is an old policy. They implemented that several months ago and it's just been incredibly inconsistent with implementation. Kinda weird that it came back up but okay.

@Knuckles-Fajita I mean, we all knew that there were going to be more near-future announcements later in the year. I don't think E3 is any more important for them than any other Direct at this point.

Currently Playing: Resident Evil Village: Gold Edition

EvilLucario

E3 in general has been waning in prominence anyway. Being able to announce whenever companies want to control their message is working out more often than not nowadays.

July Direct before Octopath/Captain Toad seems pretty likely, the question is what does Nintendo consider "not E3 worthy".

Grumblevolcano

EvilLucario

@Grumblevolcano Ports probably. They only had a few ports in their E3 like Dragon Ball FighterZ and Hollow Knight. And more third-party ports like Tales of Vesperia and smaller games like Travis Strikes Again can fit that bill pretty well, I think.

I'm just pinning for a Xenoblade X port for next year.

So probably a Direct in September? We could get a big third party port of two that has yet to be announced.Remember, Doom was announced September last year and came out 2 months later.
