@AlternateButtons I never played Owlboy so I can't say anything about it. But for Hollow Knight, those points are pretty spot-on. About difficulty, your mileage may vary and it can be unforgiving at times. It can be easy to get lost and get stuck on certain bosses. But it's among my favorite Metroidvanias purely because of those reasons.
Metroid, Xenoblade, EarthBound shill
I run a YouTube/Twitch channel for fun. Check me out if you want to!
Please let me know before you send me a FC request, thanks.
About the GC controller, I think it'll stay being identified as a pro controller in all games but Smash so pretty much how people wanted it to function like on Wii U.
@Harmonie firstly thanks for taking the time to check it out for me it's much appreciated. I never did get around to buying one for the WiiU but will be getting one now for sure!! Its probably not going to be my main control but I can see it getting a lot more use than I initially thought especially for Mario Kart.
@AlternateButtons Hollow Knight is moody, certainly, but it's also full of little moments of humor. The world of HK is chock full of personality, and that organically leads to encountering characters and situations that are quite charming.
It's much less dour as an experience than, say, Super Metroid, which establishes a hostile, serious atmosphere and never really relents.
Difficulty-wise... it's fair. There are some viciously hard optional bosses in the late game, of course, but overall it has a challenging but manageable difficulty curve.
@AlternateButtons
Both are platformers, but from what I hear, Hollow Knight is more of a metroidvania experience than Owl Boy. So if you're like me and prefer your platforming a bit more straightforward, Owl Boy would be the way to go. Otherwise, go with Hollow Knight. For me, Owl Boy also wins in the aesthetics. I tend to enjoy things that are more light-hearted and bright.
Really enjoying Mario Tennis Aces. What a great game!
Y's VIII should be releasing any day now. It really reminds me of Xenoblade Chronicles 2. I think I may need to own that one digitally.

@JaxonH I still think Ys VIII needed a better window than this. Region depending its either right before or same day as Wolfenstein and Crash, a week or less after Mario Tennis, and in the two weeks following are two more JRPGs.
Now Playing: Mario & Luigi Brothership, Sonic x Shadow Generations
Now Streaming: The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom
What's sad is we look at say, August, and it's pretty open. Okami, Monster Hunter bookending it, and no JRPG until September. So why not put it there instead?

@Knuckles-Fajita
It's definitely getting overlooked with all these other games releasing.
I know the game isn't as good as Xenoblade Chronicles 2, but it still looks dang good, and I would think anybody who enjoyed Xenoblade 2 would be lining up to buy this game.
But as you say, a lot of other stuff releasing in the same time period. Although I believe Wolfenstein 2 is being massively ignored in comparison. It's very close to release and nobody is talking about it which really surprises me because it's up there with DOOM as far as quality, and it's entirely single player focused with a real story line and cut scenes and all of that good stuff. Nintendo gamers tend to like single player games, especially on a portable system. And, motion will be there day one.
Y's VIII, Wolfenstein 2, Octopath Traveller and Shining Resonance are the big 4 releasing over the next few weeks. Crash Trilogy, Captain Toad and Mega Man X Collection are still all worth picking up though.

@JaxonH I'll be getting Crash at launch, my second copy, Ys VIII sometime after I get paid next week as well (They come out same day so...bleh). Wolfenstein and Octopath I have to pass on for now as money is tight this month.
What with Mega Man X, Captain Toad, Sonic Mania Plus also on my list to buy ASAP.
So two of the big games need to take a backseat for a while. £246 per month for all expenses only goes so far.

@Knuckles-Fajita That said it may not be open when August arrives but that's just another flaw of Nintendo's approach to E3 2018. Unless their lineup for the 2nd half of this year really is that bare (which I doubt), they should've spent less time on Smash and more on other 2018 games.
@Grumblevolcano That's just another flaw of Nintendo in general. It'd be nice to know in advance of what things publishers need to dodge. Can't think Starlink will go well the same day as Mario Party. Nor will Warriors Orochi.
But because of that, we have a nice open August that seems fairly empty. They could put something in there, move games back or forward.
I'd prefer it, so that publishers can get their games an appropriate slot and room to breathe. But Nintendo gives 4 months notice on Mario Party and Pokemon landing.
I think, from Nintendo at least, the rest of 2018 is laid out for us. Maybe a Wii U port or two in there but they have their cards out. Yoshi and Fire Emblem are delayed so maybe we will have some months for third parties to shine.
Assuming all their games aren't scheduled around stuff Nintendo announced at E3.

I don't know, it's a poor period to release in, but I've seen a decent amount of interest in Ys VIII online. I do think Shining is going to sell horribly, though. Way too close to Octopath.
But yeah, three JRPGs plus everything else releasing over a span of, like, two weeks. is really crowded, and will only lower sales all around.
Currently Playing: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond (NS2); Corpse Factory (PC)
Yeah August is just Okami and MHGU as far as non-indie stuff goes. Maybe Dark Souls Remastered. Games like de Blob or Ys VIII probably would've been better off in August.
September looks decent though. SNK Heroines, NBA 2K19, FIFA 19, Labyrinth of Refrain, Valkyria Chronicles 4, Dragon Ball FighterZ.
Octopath Traveller and Shining Resonance have demos. Y's VIII does not.
All 3 look to be excellent JRPG's, and I need all 3 digitally I think (was originally only going to get Octopath digitally but, Shining Resonance demo convinced me on that one, and Y's VIII reviews/gameplay have really convinced me I need it on me at all times as well).
Valkyria Chronicles 4, Tales of Vesperia and The World Ends With You though.... Oh my gosh. The trifecta of JRPG classics that will forever be carved out in stone in the Switch Hall of Fame.
If you think July is a great month for RPG's, just wait til we hit Oct-Nov. When Pillars of Eternity 2 becomes an overlooked extra, you know you're looking at a spread for the ages.
And let us not neglect Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate and Dark Souls Remastered. Although they're both a different type of RPG, they're holding it down for August.
And Xenoblade Chronicles 2- Torna: The Golden Country releases this Holiday season, along with Pokémon Let's Go, which is an RPG of sorts. And Mario Rabbids Kingdom Battle DK expansion drops this summer I think.
Just relentless with the onslaught of excellent RPG's from now through the end of the year. And there's more, too. Disgaea 1 Final, Super Neptunia RPG, Victor Vran, God Wars, Warriors Orachi 4, Little Dragon's Cafe... it's out of control lol

I think Nintendo will release another pure handheld. That would explain why this year feels like a year before new hardware.
I don't have any concrete evidence for this, but how Nintendo have talked about handhelds before and after the release of switch makes me think they will continue the handheld line. If for nothing else than having an entry level hw.
