Played a few matches of Fortnite... oof. It really hurts to see it be 30fps. I assume this will be fixed at a later date, but this is a disappointment in the meantime. Better than a mobile version, but a inferior to the other versions. But if you never played Fortnite before, maybe that won't bother you.
Just a geek that likes video games, and spends to much time playing Smash Bros. and Fortnite.

@JaxonH That makes sense. I'll give it a shot when it releases. I'm not a fan of RPGs besides Pokemon, which is itself arguably becoming less and less RPG-like with each new entry, but as you said I might end up liking it. And what you said about the graphics makes sense. I was expecting Breath of the Wild or Odyssey level graphics, but these were still a step up from 3DS/GC/Wii graphics.
Just a quick question: with Splatoon 2 DLC being released tomorrow, and Smash Bros being a December release, is there really anything that drives us to get the online ASAP aside from what were already playing online?
Isn't it obvious that Falco Lombardi is actually a parrot?
@sr_388 Mario Party will NEVER be an online game. Board games take too long for any reasonable session to finish, and minigame only modes would get stale real fast. Mario Party games work best for special get-togethers/occasions, not extended play.
@meleebrawler At least add the option for friends though? Honestly if online was allowed with only friends that's perfectly fine. Sure, it's best for local play but not everyone can do have that setup unfortunately.

I run a YouTube/Twitch channel for fun. Check me out if you want to!
Please let me know before you send me a FC request, thanks.

Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate, Dark Souls Remastered, Dragonball Fighter Z, SNK Heroines, Arc Survival Evolved, Mario Tennis Aces, Fortnight, Splatoon 2, Sonic Team Racing, Paladins... pretty much any game you want to play online beyond September (and there's quite a few out already).
But it's different for each person. I haven't had a reason to buy online on PS4 since the generation started. Till monster hunter released anyways. One game in four years.
If there is a game you want to play online, then sub to the online. If there's not then don't. If you go all generation and don't need a sub then so be it.
But Monster Hunter... That is all. Same reason I subbed on other systems. Much easier to digest at a third of the price obviously. And I promised my brother I would play through Dark Souls with him if the game ever came to a handheld system where I can actually play it and pause the game via sleep mode (can't stand the whole "no pause" thing). So there's that one too.
But even if you're not going to play Monster Hunter, just consider yourself saving money for 90 days until Smash. Not that 90 days saves you a particularly large sum of money ($4.99? yay?)

I fell asleep about 20 minutes before the Direct started but luckily managed to watch it there without catching any spoilers. I come away fairly content but like everyone says, thought too much time was spent on Smash. Perhaps more time would have been spent on Dragon Ball Fighters and Fortnite if that leak never happened? The first half was great and moved along at a good pace, if it had kept that pace up for the whole show and announced 1 or others it would have been a great show.As it was, it'll be remembered as a decent show but far from one of the best. With it being the Switch's 2nd E3 that's a little disappointing. Especially since we know they have the games in development that could have made it a memorable one.
My highlight was Daemon X Machina which looks incredible, just my kind of game. It's a shame its not coming till next year though. Fire Emblem I thought looked very nice, again next year. Hollow Knight being available now was a nice surprise and I've already got it downloaded. Fortnite although not a surprise, it's nice to have it now on my system so I can see what all the fuss is about. Ninjala looks very interesting and is clearly influenced by Splatoon. I hoped for Odyssey DLC, never got it. Gutted Starfox GP never showed so may not even exist. Another E3 another no show from Retro. Bayonetta 3 I still hoped for despite the wise words from others that it was unlikely to appear. When the show started with a 2019 game I felt confident we were going to see but it wasn't to be.
It could have done with more games but I've a feeling they've still not showed all their hand yet. There is still a game that will launch along with the online service, I'm sure of that.
@JaxonH Nice list and cheers for making it up. Didn't spot Titan Quest or Wasteland 2 on it. I think TQ is coming at the end of July and Wasteland 2 I don't think has a release date.

@JaxonH I don't really see why. You can do whatever you want obviously, but a different perspective isn't really a bad thing, even if he is overly pessimistic at times. Echo chambers of "Switch is awesome!" can get boring, especially since it's not all sunshine and rainbows with this system. There are definite problems, especially if you compare this year to last year.
@KirbyTheVampire
Has nothing to do with "opposing opinions" or "echo chambers" or "pessimism" or any of that jazz.
And if you don't understand that then you haven't been watching this thread very closely these past few weeks.

That's... just what Switch visuals look like. Top down strategy games typically aren't the type that turn heads visually anyways. I think it looks gorgeous though. About what I expected and hoped for.
Take a look at the 3DS entries and then look at the new Fire Emblem...
It's everything I could've hoped for. Miles beyond the last three entries I played, exactly what a Path of Radiance or Radiant Dawn would look like in the modern era.

To give some perspective, here's what Fire Emblem Awakening looked like on 3DS
And here's Fire Emblem Path of Radiance on GameCube
So when I see this, it's exactly how I imagined it would be
And Fire Emblem is so good. Only series I would rank above Monster Hunter and Xenoblade. Well, maybe Monster Hunter is a tie. Either way, it's up there.
