Topic: The Nintendo Switch Thread

Square Enix is turning the dev team behind Octopath Traveler into an entire division of the company, all focused on Switch games. They also have several more unannounced projects for Switch in the works. Considering how incredible the Octopath demo was, this can only be good news for Switch. More Square Enix games, the better!

Maybe they'll do something like Rodin confirmed for Smash Switch, by the way Bayonetta 3 is still in development. Not a trailer but a brief mention. Kind of like how last year, the Pokemon segment was about Pokken DX but there was a brief mention of Pokemon Switch.

@GrumbleVolcano I just saw the amiibo message for Bayo 2 from Rodin, thought it was a super cute/cool way to foreshadow his reveal

My wishlist is extremely small. I just want Xenoblade/Metroid news, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night and Hollow Knight release dates, and a confirmation of new Xenoblade characters for Smash. Anything else is just a bonus.

@MisterPi I'm not, I'm just very curious as to why investors are jumping out now when stock is very likely to go higher because the good news doesn't seem to stop.

Nice. I doubt Octopath Traveler will do badly, though I feel like that title really should have been changed. It's classic Square-Enix levels of dumb. Though at least it doesn't reach Kingdom Hearts level of dumb

@MisterPi The only reason its still called that is because for the past 18 months that is what its been called.

I think Octopath Traveler is a great name. It tells what the game is about as well. (8 paths to go through.) I also believe they were going to use the name since the beginning. I mean, the character names spell:
Ophilia
Cyrus
Tressa
Olberic
Primrose
Alfyn
Therion
H'aanit

^ Yeah I giggled for a bit when I first noticed that. Feels like the 90s dropped by. And for squeenix...that's a good thing. I am so happy about the Octopath team becoming a switch only team. If they keep churning out work like this (and pretty fast turnaround considering) then we have another RPG haven on our hands with the switch...because if square starts making good money (DQ XI when?) then others will come running.

So apparently Nintendo pushed an update for Fortnite on the eShop servers.

That would be one insane "available right now" announcement.

That seems like the perfect "available now" candidate. In theory. It's awful in practice cuz no doubt it being free mixed with Nintendos infrastructure would probably mean no eshop access for a while lol

I'm sitting game cube controllers out this time. I didn't use it last gen and the pro controllers are fine for smash.

I didn't get Mario Kart 8 because I had Transformed on the Wii U, but now the reverse is true lol. Probably gonna skip Team Sonic Racing (and by extension Mario Kart 9 if it's on Switch) since I already have Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

I stop playing the trailer after 5 seconds.
Boring in my opinion.

Looks...exactly like the previous games but with the extended SEGA cast omitted. Kinda disappointing but if it plays as well as the others it will be a day one buy for me (although honestly I would've been happy with a Transformed port).
