No, the online was the nail in the coffin.

The first half of the video just focuses on crap emulation like constant stuttering, freezing and lag.

It was so bad I could see it in the gameplay shown. Every 15 seconds the game would stutter and then unfreeze. Stutter and then unfreeze. You know it's bad when you don't even have to take his word for it- you can see it happening right in front of your eyes.

Dude, Mario Tennis Aces is so much fun. I'm literally nuking these fools' rackets to death and it's so cathartic destroying them all.

As @Octane pointed out the staff (& often even management) get little if anything - it’s the CEOs who decide to take the money.

There’s more to it though. When you’re working on a big budgeted game for EA and they knock on your day saying ‘we’re buying you out sign here’ it’s effectively a gun to the head. They can pull out of publishing contracts, cancel games or send them out to die leaving the studio dead in the water with an expensively produced game they can’t sell.

The strategy that seems to work the best with Mario Tennis Aces for me has been focusing on getting special shots as in general competitors aren't good at blocking but still try to block.

I'm terrible at blocking so I just let the opponents get a point from special shots rather than break my rackets. That will change with the full game as I have no doubt there'll be some really hard story mode stage which requires you to block well.

@Grumblevolcano Petey Piranha was already shown to use damaging shots quite frequently as his health gets lower. And you can't really blame people for trying to block even if they're not that good at it yet, it's the only way to get better at it. If the special shot comes on the opponent's match point, you really have no choice but to attempt it.

Hm, now that I rewatched, it does seem less clear.

Either way I'm not interested. The emulation quality of these games is questionable at best. M2 or go home. I'll pay more, gladly, knowing it runs flawlessly.

Even Capcom couldn't get the emulation 100% for Mega Man Collection 1 on Switch. The menu of Mega Man 3 has a horizontal clipping line. Not that that's a major deal or anything but, it is annoying. I can't stand sloppy emulation. Thank goodness the games run fine once you're playing at least.

But ya, they said it took on average like 1-2 months per game for m2 to properly port over Genesis classics on 3DS. At best they said they were doing a game in a week. So there's no way in heck a package of 30 or 50 roms or whatever it is got that kind of attention. Likely spend 2 months on the whole package. Which is why I never gave 2 craps about that Genesis collection in the first place. m2 is about the only ones you can really trust to deliver a quality product, and that's because they devote the time and manpower to do it right

Put in more hours into the Mario Tennis demo. The more I play this, the more I'm REALLY loving it. I was already gonna get it eventually, but now this is just like, woooooooooooooo I'm getting this ASAP. So much fun!

Yep, and it's why they will cost more than the PS4 disc. In this case, you get what you pay for.

Is It? I've been playing that game for 25 years. Never remember seeing it before. I'll have to load up the game on Wii U and 3DS and X1 and check for it. Unless it was originally part of the game, can't see why it would be present in every version.

But what do I know

@JaxonH Its originally part of the game. Its on PS4 and Wii definitely. Wii U you'll need to check.

The ones I cant check are the Anniversary Collection, because EU, the Complete Works PS1 release because Japan only, and the original NES release.

Oh if it's part of the game then ya. Guess I just never noticed, that or forgot. Wonder why they couldn't correct it in emulation though...
