I would love to see a Scandinavian region.
I know I'm biased, but we have a lot of mountains, forests, fjords etc. I think it could be pretty cool.

Honestly I'm a bit bored of Pokemon games bouncing from overt representations of one country to another. Galar really overdid it IMO with its on-the-nose representations of British culture (Polteageist I'm looking at you). Moving forward I'd rather cultural inspirations would a bit more subtle, and that collectively each region (and even individual Pokemon designs) would take inspiration from a blend of cultures if they were to go that route.

@Buizel I reckon Gamefreak did a really good job at capturing some of the subtleties of the cultures mixed in the UK, but I agree. I'd happily see them start mixing more downplayed influences, like you suggest, or simply just go back to being loosely based on regions of Japan.

@Buizel I totally get u. Galar is my least favorite, art direction wise. It was very British lol. All the main Pokemon games usually have that hint of Japanese essence too, but it missed it this time around :/

I'd like to see a Pokemon location based on Vatican City

Imagine the Pokemon design was inspired from Bali with Kecak dance, Hanuman, Pendet dancer, etc.

Take some inspiration from my country Indonesia. 🇮🇩

I'd love to see a region based on Italy.
Rome, the Colosseum, the Vatican, Venice, the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, the leaning tower of Pisa, the Trevi fountain,... there's so much they can do with Italy.

@Maximumbeans I do miss the Japanese city-pop feel of the 90s era Kanto region. I miss minimalistic Monster designs too. A lot of the new ones since Sword Sheild have too many extra lines. Too much lines and its Digimon lol.

@Vivianeat I didn't mind some of the Sword and Shield designs but a lot of them just looked dreadful to me, some of them like the Cufant line look like they're made out of Play-doh, it's just odd. Eternatus is quite possibly the worst Pokemon design ever to exist.

Japanese city-pop is definitely the right description of the Kanto feel, I'd like to see them roll more of that back into the visual design in future.

No one suggested Australia yet, so I will. Africa is also wildly underrepresented in games as well.

Got me thinking, how many "Australian" Pokemon are there? Can't be that many. Going down the list Kangaskhan, Heliolisk and Komala but I can't see too many beyond that. I guess you could count Sharpedo, Aridos, Krookodile but those could easily just be from another country. Definitely some inspiration to draw on if they did an Australian Pokemon game

Think about it. You could have an area that's full-on Mad Max toxic wastelands and industrial mining areas all the way through to touristy beaches and leafy small country towns. And the Pokemon pretty much design themselves. Small marsupials, echidna, platypus and a ridiculous variety of birds and spiders. I mean we have the cassowary which is pretty much a modern dinosaur and Quokas which are basically the closest real world equivalent to a Pikachu

I honestly don't know why it hasn't happened yet TBH

@Maximumbeans Let's hope they will 1 day. Especially the old tech, would love to see that again.
