So, since they were the spider ball, the gravity suit, and the grappling beam in Twilight Princess, what uses do you think the Iron Boots will have this time? 3-mile no-scope one-shotting? Inexplicable Bunny Hood powers? Space flight!?

perhaps when jumping off of epona and hitting that pocket of time slow magic instead of using the bow, if you have the iron boots maybe youll be able to do a ground pound on a enemies head, possibly needed for armored enemies before dispatching them with your sword

I hadn't noticed that there's a Kyogre and a Groudon discussing Zelda stuff in this thread. Where's Rayquaza, guys?

But I like that ground pound idea. Reminds me of Halo 5, lol.

My dream for Zelda U is a hypercomplex mirror shield light puzzle about lanterns, fire arrows, and the time of day. It would be Gohdt!

i know its fictional, but at the same time link and hyrule are very real to me, zelda has been a huge part of my life since i was a child.

also i dont want to argue about this again lol, i just got out of a huge 2 day fight over youtube on the subject.

Some arguments are destined to go nowhere and just annoy everyone involved. Whether or not a fictional character should wear a dress in a whimsical manner is one such argument.

it may be a fictional character to you, and you might not mind if a made up character breaks from the morals that have always been set for it because its not real to you, but link is a real person to me, his story has substance and it hits me hard when hes changed, the dress thing almost hit me as hard as the windwaker not being the hero of time. (that really hit me hard)

you can laugh and think me silly to feel so strongly about something that isnt real, but the fact is to me it is real

Tri Force Heroes is a bad game. There; problem solved.

It isn't really all that bad.

apart from the clothing options which is based solely on morality and not on actual gameplay, id have to say its major flaw is its multiplayer, its either 3 person play or single play. so a bf and gf are screwed. and from what ive seen if you get picked up youre at the other persons mercy, which usually ends with you thrown off the edge because theres no way to let yourself down.

@Dezzy: @keife191: I think I understand keife191's point, and I think I agree. I don't think however that it has to do with being fictional or not. Take Mario for example, that's a character you cannot take seriously; It's an ''everything'' character and every game he's in can be described as silly and fun. The Legend of Zelda is/used to be a franchise that relies on a serious narrative; a franchise with very high standards. I wasn't a big fan of his inclusion in Mario Kart 8, I didn't dislike it, but I don't think it was necessary and they could've easily included some other characters. It's that these ''guest-appearances'' and ''silly'' games might eventually devalue the franchise. I cannot take Mario serious in any game, and that is not something that I think we would like to see happen with Link. Now Triforce Heroes is just one spin-off title, and technically not all of those characters are Link, so I can live with that.

@Octane, @keife191: So, I will disagree that it is wrong or immoral for Link to wear a dress, but I can relate to your point If you're worried that it makes a mockery out of him, for reasons of his reputation. It's kind of like photoshopping Barack Obama wearing a dress; since Obama is a real person (and an authority figure), it devalues him, and doesn't pay him much respect. For this reason, I can see why you wouldn't like Link to wear a dress. Personally, I've never really held the toon link design with much seriousness anyway.

Got married.

@Nicolai: You can even see that Nintendo doesn't take Toon Link with that seriousness either. They didn't use ALBW Link's design, even though the in-game graphics look the same.

Now, I don't have any problem with Toon Link wearing dresses. But vanilla Link? Just nope. Although I like his more effeminate look in Zelda U.

Even disregarding the amoral thing, I don't buy the argument that the dress devalues his character. It's intended to be a lighthearted, humourous take on the material. It's not like photoshopping Obama in a dress. It's like Obama playing footage of The Lion King as his "birth video" as a joke.

But on the other hand, Link in a dress is kind of troubling for a different reason. The reason is that male crossdressing is still seen as a "joke" in mainstream media. Man in a dress? Funny! Never to be taken seriously. That, along with the director's comments that "lol only boys can be heroes stupid, that's why there's no girls allowed in my cool game for boys" comment, tells me that Nintendo might have some growing to do.

@Nicolai: I don't think it is wrong or immoral, I don't think that it was necessary (and my comment wasn't specifically about Link wearing a dress). I'm only saying that portraying Link as an ''everything'' character may devalue the franchise if it's done too much. On that point I agree with keife191.

and i hope it never will be taken seriously, theres only two situations where men wearing girl clothes in public is ok, 1. theyre forced into because they need to play the spy in a location where only females can get around inconspicuously, or 2. theyre really girls in a boys body. and link is a determinately effeminate man, but hes not a woman trapped in a mans body so seeing link in a dress, is like seeing an old man in a banana hammock. you want to claw your eyes out and burn your brain to ash.

now back to the main topic at hand, how big do you think hyrule will be in zelda wii U? im thinking skyrim size, and weve only been shown one part of the map, im willingto be theres also a sea portion to mimic windwaker, and a sky portion to mimic skyward sword. so it could e even bigger than what we think we cant imagine, any thoughts or comments?

It's just a piece of fabric, dude. It doesn't have a gender. We call a dress "girl clothes" because, I dunno, a couple hundred years of marketing and advertisement has made it a cultural thing. I wouldn't wear a dress, but I don't generally let Wal-Mart commercials tell me what inanimate objects are or aren't evil.

Some people like to wear dresses. Some of them are male. It's not a big deal.

Also,

theyre forced into because they need to play the spy in a location where only females can get around inconspicuously

Peeping in women's locker room confirmed moral use of a dress and wig.
