@Nicolai: I have set my expectations of Project guard to 'Very Low' like 'Sega CD Night Trap Low'. So I am sure I will be pleasantly surprised when it is released
I never drive faster than I can see. Besides, it's all in the reflexes.
Persona 5, Kingdom Hearts 3, Final Fantasy XV and Final Fantasy 7 remake will all destroy Splatoon in sales, my brother.
I will eat a lightbulb if Persona 5 manages half of the sales of Splatoon.
The other three will outsell it. FF7R probably by the skin of its teeth. Or I dunno. The Kitase/Nomura/Nojima team has this neat trick where they consistently make mediocre games that sell by the millions.
Keep in mind though that there are very mixed opinions about the Final Fantasy brand these days. FFXV will be the most expensive game that SE has ever made, but it won't be the best selling by a long shot.
You really think FF7, the most requested remake in the history of gaming, which sold 9.8 million units when it released, is gonna pass Splatoon's sales "by the skin of its teeth"?
That's just not gonna happen. Whether it will be good or not is up for debate (probably nowhere near as good as the original), but pure hype and the no doubt 50+ million PS4's by the time of its release will make sure it soars past any wii u title.
I'd say Persona 5 will easily pass it as well just based on how popular it seems the franchise is, but I don't know the sales numbers and if it's just a really popular niche game.

Lol, of course it's not going to be the next Splatoon. I would expect a retail Project Guard to be something more like Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker.

Captain Toad's gameplay is no more complex than Project Guard's. The only reason it looks more refined is because it has the Mario IP. And of course Captain Toad was better received: It had the Mario IP in it. In fact, had Project Guard been advertized as a Star Fox spin-off to be released after StarFox Zero, I'm sure Project Guard would have gotten the same amount of attention. If Captain Toad had started off with unrecognized characters, we probably would have viewed that the same way. Heck, Project Guard's reception wasn't even all that terrible, it just wasn't welcomed with open arms like Captain Toad was, cuz, you know, the Mario IP.
I'm still certain that Project Guard, or any game concept really, can have depth added to it easily, and branded as a full retail game if the resources are poured into it.
@arronishere: Well, I think we're at the risk of getting way off topic, so I'll try to round it off a bit. Basically, Splatoon has way more appeal than either title, so it can't be compared, and I don't think Project Guard is any more meh than Captain Toad, IP and charm aside. Neither of them or meh. But those are really just my opinions, and nothing more, as I can't give any concrete reasons why I think either game has good or bad gameplay, it's really just a gut feeling. Back to Zelda U discussion?

A TP announcement would kill this thread as it'd mean a TP HD thread would have to be started and all the conversation would move there.
Don't worry, Zelda U. While everyone else is getting hyped over TP HD... I'll remain more hype for Zelda U. I'll continue to carry the torch for the game that is never forgotten but not seen! I'm staying here! There's only one true hype train for Zelda!

@Blast: I will join thee. I probably won't be getting Twi Pri HD anyway, since I have it on the Wii.
I already experienced the story in TP... I already saw Midna in Hyrule Warriors. And I'm still mad it isn't being saved for NX. There are wayyy more deserving games that need the HD Remaster treatment than TP. But don't tell the Zelda fanbase that! I'm still sticking to not buying any Zelda games until Zelda U. There's still too many Zelda games going around that can cause burnout... in my opinion.
