Not expecting anything earthshattering, of course, but even within just ten minutes I think we can get some answers on weapon degradation, dungeons, more bosses, fishing, and other simple, but important details. No story or lore details required. It's pretty clear that Nintendo wants to keep Tears mostly a secret, which is great for those who want to go in blind but there's others like me who want to know some more so we can have some genuine excitement. Even if we're still buying the game regardless, hype matters!

Nice @12:58 Switch OLED Zelda confirmed - 28 April release
Holy Schmidt!!, the weapons possibilities!!!!!!!!!! LoL. Wooowwwwwwww<33333333
I'm only half 1/3 into the video...
Edit: Omg. They haven't' revealed stuff, because it's THAT creative! Other game companies will be copying these ideas. This is revolutionary.<33🌈🌈
The new weapon crafting looks amazing! Super open-ended, and it really looks like the combinations are endless. Also, the new Ascend and Fuse abilities look like they could open up some extremely interesting dungeon puzzles. And, holy cow. Link is REALLY high up. And we've also confirmed that there are no loading screens between areas.
Overall, I thought this was a pretty solid presentation. It didn't show off too much and looked like it mostly stuck to showing off the tutorial area. I definitely wasn't disappointed, but I am unfortunately still left wondering exactly what this game is about, and what justifies it being a new game apart from the new abilities and islands. I have no doubt we'll see that eventually, and I still think it's possible that we'll be getting either another trailer or a gameplay presentation.

Probably won't watch the footage, but it definitely sounds like they're leaning into evolving what made BotW unique, instead of just falling back on incorporating more classic Zelda elements.
They're definitely holding their tongue on the story elements, though, which I'm... mixed on. I want at least one banger trailer before the game releases.
Remember this?
I want the equivalent of this, but for TotK. Something to really blow me away and excite me prior to release.
@Ralizah I am pretty sure a direct will show up next month. I would be shocked if this game doesn’t get one. They had to do this reveal because of the oled preorders.

@Ryu_Niiyama You know, prior to this gameplay footage, I'd have agreed with you, but uploading a "gameplay trailer" less than two months before the game drops makes me think they're not planning anything particularly big in terms of pre-release marketing. After all, it's not like there'd have been any issue with them just revealing the special edition on its own.
You'd think they'd have been rubbing peoples' faces in this game like they did with BotW, but that... really hasn't been the case to date. At least so far. We'll see what happens.
I assume you're all in on that Zelda OLED model?

@TheBigBlue Yeah, it's like Splatoon 3 level polarizing. This could just be the norm with the internet, plus the people who liked zelda series but not where things went with BOTW. (That's not a put down.)
(There are LOTS of people who only comment on articles, and never touch the forum, and they can be quite toxic. NL forum users tend to be more constructive, or less toxic.)
It's like people can't curb their expectations and don't understand that it being a literal sequel to BotW might just hint at it being in the same world. Seriously.
And then we have the one dude theory-crafting about Nintendo and what sneaky stuff they're doing. It's healthy to be wary of corpos, but that's ridiculous.
In fairness the hype to BOTW is different to hype of Kingdom Sad. BOTW was as much about selling the then risky Switch console as it's fancy must play launch title so they couldn't afford to make a mistake with it not being a hit after the Wii U. With this game it looks like they want people to have an organic experience of discovery so aren't fussed about hyping it as much.
@Ralizah You KNOW it! Been sitting on 5hundo for MONTHS waiting on this announcement (and ignoring every other OLED announcement). Best case I get the OLED and the carrying case (I don't need another procon. I might get it if its readily available). There is also a set of white and gold custom joycon I will get to act as a backup joycon set to this one. Worst case I have to import the OLED because it sells out here (which will eat that whole 5hundo based on what I paid for my DQ edition switch). Really hoping I can get it domestic. Already have the CE and amiibo preordered and paid for.
Well let's just wait and see before we write advertising off. We know this is Nintendo's big swing for the year (maybe next two) so I feel like they will try to market that.
To the general thread:
As for the complaints, just the Zelda Cycle as usual. Now: "IT SUCKS!", 5 years from now: "HOW DARE YOU ToTK is the BEST Zelda EVER!!1" (sorry don't like to shout.)

I'm happy with the presentation. It's great to hear that development is finished, and I liked the mixing of the old and familiar (horse themes, sound effects, Hyrule) with some new elements (enemies, weapon crafting, abilities). It's a nice appetizer for the massive game that's coming in a little over six weeks. I get why people are thinking the presentation makes the game look boring, more of the same, etc. as Nintendo doesn't want to show off too much just yet. Honestly, if people want to see what took 6 years to make the game or why it costs more, they'll need to wait for a review. This today was never going to satisfy those people. I for one am super-excited. I debated whether I would even watch the video, but ultimately the desire to see and hear anything from the game won out. I can't wait for May 12.
