So here's a perhaps tougher, or maybe not, tech question. What is dynamic resolution? Is it in all games for Switch? If not what are some games that utilize it? Is it something that will be a norm for future Nintendo generation systems?

I'm asking this because I have a physical issue which makes playing certain graphics style games difficult. I've been trying to pinpoint what it is.
One pattern I've noticed is that games that bother me all have a similar art style or resolution. They look very sharp and refined almost GLOSSY I'd say. Examples are Luigi's Mansion, Lino's Awakening, Mario Odyssey. All those games have that glossy look and I believe the common denominator I'd dynamic resolution. If someone knows better what it Is I could figure a way around it perhaps somehow or at least avoid buying games then having to return them

@damien33ad dynamic resolution is a way for software (a game) to manage hardware resources. If the switch doesn't have the power to render a complex detailed environment at 1080p, the software can change to a lower resolution in real time, to like 720p, to render the environment with less pixels. When the environment gets less detailed, then the software will change back to 1080p. Lowering resolution can also help maintain or achieve higher frame rates. (anyone can correct me if I've got that wrong, or welcome to describe it better, if they want)

Jumping to lower resolution can result in artifacting, tile-ing, or blurring? of the image.

How big of a tv do you play on? I'm wondering if a smaller tv might help. I know when i played spyro with the Switch on a 65 inch 4K tv, the tile-ing and artifact-ing were distracting. But on a 32 inch tv, i don't notice the issue.

Perfect. That was what I was wondering. So dynamic resolution is actually a graphical tool per se.
TV is 32 in. so dint think that. When having in 480p as well as turning down res on TV it does seem to help a LOT. Just trying to solve this mystery and have narrowed it to this dynamic resolution thing I believe because all the games listed above use it. I remember playing Links Awakening and having to play for 30 min then shut off for hour do something else then go back to it. Maybe God wanted me to get out from in front of the TV or something idk. But Luigi's Mansion was the worst and I noticed it had the glossy look in overdrive. And I don't mean that as an insult it looked amazing just messed with me.

@SigourneyBeaver Because of your comment (in Switch Latest Purchase thread) about your NSO subscription not renewing, I went to look to see if mine is set to automatically renew. The short story is, I could only find the auto renew setting in my Nintendo account on Nintendo's website under Shop Menu. But on eshop, there's no option to toggle Auto Renew in NSO. If the option(or a button) was there, it appears removed.

(on eshop/account info/nintendo switch online: there is no button to turn auto renew on or off, only a Membership Options button, which doesn't have autorenew. but there is a link About Automatic Renewal (?) -this useless page opens and tells you there's a button on eshop, but, like I said above, it no longer exists.)

@WoomyNNYes
I found the whole thing confusing, with the different types of auto renewal (date, timed, funds etc). But I suppose we have to expect Nintendo to make difficult what their competitors make easy.

There was definitely an auto-renew button on the eShop as recently as a week or two ago - specifically the day after HR:AoC was announced. That was the day I linked PayPal to my Nintendo Account (having previously had no payment method linked), and that day I verified that auto-renewal was set to Off. At the time, I had the option to turn it on.

IDK whether it's related at all, but the eShop might be having some issues or be going through some 'passive maintenance' (that is, maintenance which doesn't require downtime) right now, so some things there might be in flux: https://www.nintendolife.com/forums/nintendo-switch/eshop_fra...

Autocorrect keeps causing me to write things I didn't Nintendo.

I was wondering why Damien wasn't responding to any of my posts, and then I remembered he ignored me because I called him out on one of his posts.

I know a couple people who have ignored me too. I don't mind. I do have a habit of calling out (potential) misinformation or people saying things that just don't make sense. This is the internet, and honestly nobody should have to associate with anybody they don't want to. Everyone here is probably happier if they don't, actually.

@Northwind I don’t really mind either. Sometimes though it feels like the “ignore” button is really more of a “oh crap, this guy actually has facts. Time to stop this argument!” Button. He was frantically annoying tho so I don’t mind.
