Just a random question, how do you guys collect your games (switch)? Do you try to get the whole collection of every game released physically or just the ones you like/want due to the LE stuff? Or the print run on how many will be released?
I myself am trying to go for all games released physically. But I'm not paying any attention to LE/CE unless it's a mainline Nintendo game or a game I want super badly.
Everyone I think goes for their own flavor... kinda like ice cream, no wrong option just what you prefer.
Since I live in the US I focus on the North American releases. With that being said if given the option I will grab the CE/LE first then wait on the standard edition to drop in price (I can't loose because I already have a copy). I then expanded to the PAL exclusive region which is any physical not released in the US. Easy enough but then I kinda got tempted on a few PAL CE Exclusives such as the Rime Collector's Edition and the Street Fighter 30th CE.... I might bail on the PAL CE (looking at you Harvest Moon CE with the bag).
I draw the line at Japanese games unless it has English on the cart which to this point is only Bayonetta Non-Stop and Voez which is now getting a NA release (I got burned on this one)..... Mega Man X collection is suppose to have English on the cart as well but not 100%. But that's for the Switch ............. The Vita for example I only collect North American standard editions and you couldn't pay me to buy any CE or anything outside the region.... just a different flavor.
I am a checklist collector....... I find fun in creating the list, dates, pre-orders, cost, value etc. Switch game comes in.... get's recorded and put in a box until a future time when I am ready to display my collection again.

I mostly collect what I intend to play. Region doesn't matter, as long as the games support partial English. i don't bother with shovelware like Hello Kitty Kruisers, Ben 10, Troll and I, etc. Unless they're sold under $20. At the same time, I don't hesitate to collect the games I think will have smaller print runs. Aqua Moto NTSC, Snow Moto NTSC, Stern Pinball NTSC, etc. And I'm all over the place in regards to SEs, LEs, CEs, DEs, etc. Artbooks are my weakness for those.
P.S. - finished Battle Chasers. A top-five jrpg game for Switch, imo. Moved on to Legend of Kay, which...isn't great, pass. Started Fallen Legion, kind of meh, coming after Battle Chasers. And that damn Pokemon Quest is actually quite good for a free to play game.
Switch Physical Collection - 1,260 games (as of June 15th, 2024)

I'm glad to see someone else say this lol. Everyone I know is pooping on it but I think it's quite good, especially since it seems as though it can be truly F2P if you're patient enough. watch the language. -Joey

I only buy what I like and play everything I buy. CEs depend on the game and the contents, but I buy more standard editions than CEs.
I’m a sucker for horror.
I’m always tempted to buy things just because they’re limited so I have to ask “if this wasn’t limited, would I buy it?” My flowchart is pretty easy in that regard.

I would say, MrCIB and I are on the same exact collector path. Priority is capturing all NA releases (in particular, an NA Collector/Limited releases).
I will expand to PAL for any games that are exclusive to that region (and playable in English) - picking up a CE if available. I was going to buy PAL CEs for games that were already released NA but maybe without a CE (I did purchase the RiME CE) - but decided to stop as it was starting to get way too much.
And last, I will only buy Japan games that have English (the only other notable one that MrCIB missed is I Am Setsuna - which has two covers available, mine is in English).
...one piece of advice I will offer is, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ROOM!!! My Switch collection has already managed to push me out of my original storage cabinet - the sheer number of CEs and their non-standard sizes, has caused some storage challenges for me that I'm still working through.

I'm going for a complete NA library. I'll get any CE/LE I can, but they better be worth it. The extra money can break you if you snag too many and if you're going for a whole set, why not use the extra cash for another game? I've snagged a few CE/LE and they're pretty cool, but if all you can offer is an art book and soundtrack, no thanks.
I have also been collecting PAL releases that we may not get in NA...and if it eventually releases I'll double dip. Not too big on CE/LE PAL-wise, but if it's worth it to me, I'll snag it.
I'm staying from Japan releases. I picked up I Am Setsuna, but I don't see myself dipping too much into it.
I started a bit late on Switch collecting as I was finishing the Wii U set...but now I'm focused on Switch only.
I collect the physical standard version of every game that's in English first , I do not buy any CE or LE games at all unless it's the only way to get the physical copy like Bayonetta non-stop edition was ,then every once in awhile I'll get some random game that's not in English like Schlag den Star just because.
Not buying special or limited editions allows me to keep up with collecting every game and not go broke in the process. I like collecting each game as much as I like playing them. I play just about every game at least once so I can see what games I have on the switch. I almost never complete the games. I will play a game till I get something else that's fun. I think in total I've got around 130 physical games.
Right now I'm playing Urban Trial Playground , anybody else like this game?
I've also got ordered all 5 games from Limited Run so far but does anybody know when the first game will ship?? Thanks
The main reason I am posting that link, besides being another reference, is on this list is in the "possibly" section, there is link to fill out a form to express interest in getting Death Squared released physically (instead of just a box with code) for those who are interested.
didn't see your post mate. Thank you very much! While our thread here the OP has nice pictures, I like this one being compact and alphabetical. Cheers and thanks. someone here posted about the death squared thing already and I cast my vote. I'd like to see them just do a real true blue release. I don't consider their boxes a real physical release(that requires an actual game), but the more the merrier and they seemed passionate enough to sign 500 times and go through the process to promote their game, so you know they are doing it as a labour of love.
I don't consider download codes in boxes as that either. Which is why I will be importing the mega man x collections.
I like having the pictures, it is easier to scan through to see what I am looking for. Alphabetical is nice but hard to tell when and where something new was added. My eyes glaze over trying to read a long list like the other. Too easy to miss something. Between the two lists, I think this gives me a complete physical list of games to monitor.
Now to watch my wallet die a slow and painful death.

I have pretty much become a Nintendo only collector. Anything I want on Xbox or Playstation has come out on steam/gog, so I have not picked up a PS3/4 or XBone. Nintendo continues to have games I want only on their system, making it justifiable for me to buy their console.
When I buy a game, it will be something I want to play. I don't buy for the purpose of display.
For collector's edition or limited edition, depends what is in it and price. I am a sucker for plushes (preordered Little Dragons Cafe Limited Edition - Nintendo Switch) and soundtracks (Axiom Verge Multiverse Edition, Fire Emblem Warriors Special Edition - 3 music discs).

...that's an interesting comment, right there - how far did you get with the WiiU collecting???
He has both games for it.
Edit: I'll see myself out
@hirokun lol that was funny........ but it has 163 retail released NA games (161 packaged with 2 that have double disc games) cool system to collect for

Only 163 games for NA??? I feel like I'm up and over 163 games with the Switch, after only one year!!! How is that possible???
Btw - @MrCIB, you were right about SRG and the inventory stuff, apparently. Shelters was down to about 28 or so yesterday - it's back up over 200 now...
...even that Shaq-fu CE suddenly has new inventory for sizes that were sold out just yesterday.
Oh well - it's still a cool indicator that has some potential value, especially with LRG.

You and I seem to be the only ones here who don't have complete Switch collections. At some point in time this thread turned into the collectors' club. I still read it to keep up on what's coming out, but I'm not a collector. I only buy games that I want to play (and will have time for). 17 physical games on my Switch shelf, and the only Special/Limited/Collector Edition I have is Xenoblade Chronicles 2. Some of the guys posting here probably have close to ten times that many.
I'll admit to some collection envy on my part. There are a lot of special editions, in particular, that I think would be really nice to have. But I'm a (fairly) poor person with a family to support, and I can't afford to spend money on games I'm not even going to play. Sometimes I can't even afford all the games I DO want to play (I only have the XC2 SE because my wife got it for me as an anniversary present).
No hate for you guys who are collectors, if collecting is your hobby then you do you. I have collected different things at different times, so I know the satisfaction you can get from a complete collection of anything. Collecting Switch games is just way beyond my means, especially with all the limited editions coming out now.
