Out of curiosity, are the majority of you serious and thorough collectors? I STRONGLY prefer physical games, but only buy what I’m interested in paying. I generally only go for collectors editions or more expensive editions of games I really like.
I haven't bothered with collecting the shovelware games (Hello Kitty Kruisers, Troll and I, etc). But I have been purchasing the occasional oddball game on a whim, like Aqua Moto and Snow Moto (my lord are those disappointing games). So I suppose I'm interested in collecting most Switch physical releases, but I'm not aiming to 100% the collection. One copy, as long as English subs are supported, will suffice.
I'm not so well off to where I could purchase every SKU, for every game, for every region.
Switch Physical Collection - 1,260 games (as of June 15th, 2024)

I was buying the shovelware games initially, but I've slowed down on them as it's just gotten way too expensive to keep up at this point. I will absolutely get them eventually, but I will wait for price drops. For instance, I got KILLED with all of the Lego releases - buying them full price when they came out, and now they retail for less than HALF of what I paid for them...
@TalonMan NEVER ...NO WAY.... in all honesty I’m a collector and not really a gamer. I have time to buy it and put it on a shelf but not play. So I have no reason to purchase a digital game and when I do get time to play in the future my backlog is a mile long

I would say at this point in my life, I'm like you - I collect WAY more than I play. I'm at well over 100 Switch games at this point, and perhaps 10 of them have actually been opened and played... ...that said, I'm still a gamer at heart - and if there is a game that's been getting rave reviews and sounds like a game I really want to play (and it's only available as a download), then I just have to pinch my nose, hold my breath, and jump in.
...but again - it MUST be on sale, or I won't but it at all! I do have my standards, afterall.
I wouldn't really call this a CE due to it only being the game and a guidebook, but it is in a big box, so neat.
Hmmm... ...but is the game going to have an English option? Or, is it going to be entirely in Japanese? If there is no English option, then I'm out - if there IS an English option though, I will absolutely purchase!!

I played and beat BOTW and before that it was Splatoon on Wii U and before that Grand Theft Auto 3 when it came lol that shows you how much I really play but i’ve Been collecting since 2002..... it’s fun to me to collect and I get around to playing. I need to do better
@Kejomo I was ecstatic when I heard that Steamworld Dig 2 and Flame in the Flood were getting physical releases and double dipped without hesitation. I’m more of a gamer than a collector and play more indie titles than AAA.
I will support an indie dev for a game that looks awesome and double dip if I love it and they get a physical release for sure. I’ve spent more time with Steamworld and Flame in the Flood than Zelda and Mario combined. I’ll be preordering Heist and Dig 1 if it’s an option.
Smoke and Sacrifice will be a day 1 digital purchase for me, but if there was a physical edition announced already I’d wait. What bothers me is what Darkest Dungeon did and announced a physical release just days after it was available digitally. Not so keen on double dipping as a result.

@Kejomo you’re right, it’s from SRG. I don’t see myself buying from them too freaquently for a couple of reasons, but Flame in the Flood was a must for me.

@Kejomo your not hardcore enough for this thread! but srg has expensive shipping you can pay the same price through scalpers (which is fine scalpers need cash too- its hilarious how many nut case collectors despise scalpers just GET OVER IT)
I guess you can count me as one of those "nut case collectors" that despises scalpers... ...because, I absolutely do!
I'm sure some of you already know this, but saw Victor Vran is coming g to Switch. Saw some gameplay and it looks pretty cool.
Online pre-orders show December 31 release (you know, due to no actual release date). However, watched a video that gave a summer release. Anyone heard anything?
For everyone's info I have locked in pre-orders for Blind Prince and the liar Princess for the amazon bonus version and the famitsu edition. I really want to play that game so I'll probably be delving into Japanese language study, but it looks so good. I hope it gets an english patch and comes to the e-shop at the very least. No idea why it isn't, NIS is publishing it in Japan.
