@Teksette It's true, LRG announced a collector's edition for Raidou Remastered and the game itself in the bundle is the same Key Card situation that the normal Switch 2 physical version has.
This has occasionally been SEGA's approach to collector's editions, at least the bigger, fancier ones for niche fans.
They still publish the standard physical release, but they let some company like LRG (Sonic x Shadow Generations) or Pix'n Love Publishing (Sonic Origins) handle the collector's editions.
Meaning the game they package in the collector's edition is no different from the retail version.
That makes the Game-Key release of RAIDOU Remastered no less disappointing, but absolutely appalling that LRG would even go along with this.
I could tolerate the PC releases being digital only for a platform that long since abandoned physical, because you really are just buying the collector's edition swag. For Switch 2 however? Utterly appalling.
@Teksette@GrailUK - That little bit needs an asterisk. SEGA has a partnership with LRG for distribution. Similar to how SNK used LRG years ago for the SNK Heroines game, it's a way to levy LRG's responsibility of exuberant Collector's Editions, rather than warehousing them themselves. So it has more blame on SEGA for that one.
Doesn't mean LRG is blame free, though. They -DID- agree to do it this way with SEGA.
@RupeeClock@Paraka
Agreed it’s a shame all around - Sega, Nintendo, and now LRG, they’re all complicit on that one.
So many physical games will be “tarnished editions” on Switch 2.
Meanwhile an old preorder from PlayAsia delivered today: ACA Neo Geo Selection Vols. 3 and 4 and Shantae and the Seven Sirens to complete the “3 for $100” sale. I was worried I’d get hit with 145% duty on it, but thankfully it arrived sans incident.
I thought I heard that Trump had eliminated the $800 de minimis import tax exemption for Chinese imports, but it turns out that loophole closes on May 2nd. I just beat the clock! I think this could be my last order with Playasia for a while though.
@Teksette They did physical versions of other SEGA games though. I don't own a pitch fork, I just choose not to buy something lol. But in 2025, collector's edition should really mean physical edition (even if it doesn't have any extra gumpf lol.)
I never drive faster than I can see. Besides, it's all in the reflexes.
@Teksette - Well, Play-Asia also noted recently mentioned games aren't made in China, or most anyway, so there is also that.
Hmm yes, good point - even though PlayAsia ships from Hong Kong, Switch carts are made in Japan.
I’m just afraid that with my luck, Mr. Customs Officer wearing his red MAGA hat will take one look at the shipping origin, and then my 3 for $100 deal becomes 3 for $225.
I’ve got a few preorders in-process at Amazon Japan, too, so I’ll see how those go.

Right?! I completely agree - a collector’s edition without the game is like a box of fan novelties.
I only say pitchforks because of all this negative news regarding physical games on Switch 2. It’s weighing on my mood!
It sure seems like the S2’s high-speed media will be expensive and most 3rd parties won’t use it - like a return to the N64 days! Most likely my purchases are going to lessen a lot compared to the Switch Uno.

I wonder if the Kickstarter campaign would be a success? I was of the impression this wasn't the most remarkable SNES game and was more known for being a cancelled project that surfaced, and for its harsh difficulty.
Nintendo Life just reported that there's a physical version of Tomb Raider 4-6 Remastered. There's a LRG version again but just like Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered, it's not a numbered release which means it'll get a general print run as well like Amazon, Smyths, etc.
@Jhena
Like with many Square Enix products on Switch 1, there are Asia region releases which are fully on-cart with no downloads needed for the full game (though there still may be updates).
Chrono Cross does have a code-in-box release for Europe though.
You'll need to import if you want a proper physical version of Chrono Cross Radical Dreamers Edition.
Strictly Limited Games just sent an e-mail regarding Parasol Stars/Spica Adventure. Important points:
1) ININ will now handle the games' release (16th September)
2) Both games will be bundled in a single release called Parasol Superstars.
3) Those who preordered one of the two games will get the other one at no extra cost.
4) Those who preordered both will get the price difference automatically refunded.
5) The PS4 version of Parasol Stars has been cancelled. Those who preordered it will get a full refund.
@Dimjimmer
It's a pretty weird situation that the pre-order product completely changed like that.
Under the circumstances, I can see why they've done this however. They've successfully consolidated the lack of orders for two different items, into sufficient orders for a single item.
This is a way to fulfil the obligation on pre-orders for two individual games.
Had Sanabi on preorder. Preorder wasn't shipped. Game then removed from my order.
LOL, what? Although I've read Sanabi has a chunky day-one patch, so it's whatever...I guess.
