@Woomy_NNYes Oh? That's far better, that should last me. I was under the impression it was literally just the first level that was playable which, knowing the original game, is basically nothing in terms of length.
@Bolt_Strike Absolutely horrific level. The way you have to dive around the speed ramps is unreal. I lost around 15 lives trying to get both sections done :S
Honestly, I didn't have much problem falling off the level. I was having more trouble just figuring out the correct path to take to build up enough speed on the ramps (all over again, I've beat the level before in the original, but I just forgot how). Getting to the thief wasn't that hard, but the last dragon had me stumped for a while.
I think I had to just look at a guide. It's too hard to figure out the correct way. Especially that last part, where the ramps aren't even lined up to indicate it.
Loved that bit once I figured it out, true died many many times, once I jumped a little too early so smacked into the side of the island and was sooo close. It's a roller coaster ride of mayhem!!
Just 100% the first world on Spiro 2 and liking it so far.
I think Spyro 1 has the best levels but I love that Spyro 2 makes the hub worlds feel more continuous and purposeful. Makes it feel more like an adventure and less like a random arcade game.
The level design is insanely good. I struggle to think of any bad levels in the entire game. If anything, it's the boss levels that are generally quite weak, because the bosses are terrible.
So I'm not sure if it's just because I'm older, but did the levels in the original actually feel like there was any coherency to them? I'm playing through the first world and seeing actual thematic coherency I don't remember at all. Though maybe it was just it being harder to interpret what they were going for in the worlds originally.
Wow, the harder version of the crystal popcorn minigame in Magma Cone is ridiculous in this version. Hunter is just so superhumanly fast that it's nearly impossible to win. Someone at Toys for Bob really hates us.
@Bolt_Strike
i manage to do it in the third try, focus on take as many you can and ignore him, only try to steal Crystal from him before he catch it if you are on his path and just stand in the spot don't' need to jump for steal.
i notice they make some point more harder the second boss from sypro 2 give me an hard time with his electric ball cannon i defeats him only after 5-6 tries

Jeez, I just beat Gulp and you're right, they made him a lot harder. The electric ball cannon is really hard to dodge, it's not just something you can charge around the room to avoid, you have to be smart and change direction based on where it's headed. I've been trying to get all of the Skill Points as I go, but I might want to wait until I get permanent Superflame before I even attempt to beat him without getting hit.
@Dezzy Sorry I wasn't clear. I'm saying there is thematic consistency, at least far more so than I remembered.
For the first world, we have Town Center that looks like a plaza for trading, Dark Hollow that looks like a mix of a theater and library, and Toasty takes place in a castle decked out like an Art Gallery. The last level I played there, after that comment, was Stone Hill, which doesn't fit the Artisan theme at all. But combine it with the dragon designs, and it actually all seems like pieces of a larger world.
Completing the Skill Points in Spyro 2 reminds me just how amazing this game's 100% completion reward is, easily the best 100% completion reward in a game ever. Permanent Superflame makes Gulp and Ripto pathetically easy, you can destroy them without Gulp even getting a chance to fight back and makes Ripto almost a nonfactor except for his fireballs. So if you're going for the Skill Points where you have to beat Gulp and Ripto without taking damage, I highly recommend you wait until you get all of the Gems and Orbs. It'll be sooooo worth it.
Yeti boxing is easier than I remember. Just spammed hook punches (A I think?) and beat him in one round. I had a lot of trouble with that one in the original.
Sorry to revive a dead chat, but the Reignited Trilogy is currently on sale for 50%, and I was wondering if it's worth the purchase? I've been sitting on some cash for a while, but there are some other enticing options like Yooka-Laylee and Dead Cells.
