Just noticed there‘re question marks in the next Salmon Run period‘s weapon selection. Wonder what we‘ll get this time!

@Octane Man, I sure hope not, lol. That‘s happened to me in one wave back when it was randomized like that for the first time. It was horrible and we all got splatted rather quickly.

You know what. I hope the next Grizzco weapon is a charger that shoots like a splatling. Like a splating bamboozler. Make it have a longer charge time like the gootuber with shots weaker than the fully charged bamboozler, but if you fully charge it the bullets will penetrate like the other chargers. I'm drooling right now.

@GoldenGamer88 It may charge slow, but Salmon Run is where the E-liter's ridiculous power shines. It one-shots Cohocks and Steel Eels and leaves anything that can survive a full shot on the brink of death. And it's massive range (especially on the scoped version) lets you take out several threats from a safe position before they even become an issue.

@meleebrawler The safe position is the problem for me, I think. I just find it utterly boring and useless to just stand there and snipe without going in to collect Eggs and such. The fact it‘s got a scope makes me disoriented and lose sight of the current situation.

That's what I thought at first too, until I actually had to use it...

Yeah, I don't like how disorienting the scope is as well as not being able to store your shot. Storing my shot is more important than the longer range IMO.

@NapalmPsalm I see your point in multiplayer, for the element of surprise and how quickly situations change. But in Salmon Run? I don't really see much use for charge holding. Doing so mostly just gives up ground.

I'm guessing none of you have ever touched a sniper rifle in any other shooter? Dealing with the consequences of tunnel vision is something all video game snipers have to get to grips with, as is knowing when it is better not to scope to be more aware of threats.

@meleebrawler Here is the thing. I'm not using the charge hold to be sneaky, I'm using it so I can better position myself so I don't get a chum hitting me and knocking me off target. I can charge before the steelhead starts it attack animation, but once it starts I can move to an open spot and get a clean shot because teammates rarely protect the charger in that situation. The extra range from the scope seems useless to me since I don't have to be sneaky to just get a tad closer.

I do use snipers in other games, and there is a major difference. You can aim and shoot instantly, but the charger has to charge which slowly zooms in depending on the charger. Other shooters you can deal with the tunnel vision by not staying scoped and watching your sides, you don't get that luxury in splatoon. Secondly other games don't have beacon, the laser showing your aim, saying "Here I am aiming at you or your teammate!" Because of that if you are well hidden you can spend extended times with tunnel vision. Splatoon requires you to go into tunnel vision inorder to shoot, again, with your laser giving yourself away. Granted this is why splatoon player have created the snapping technique to make up for that, which still works better without the scope.

All in all, for me, in a game that plays differently than other shooters the scope's cons out weigh its pros. To assume we don't play snipers in other shooters is unfair and a little silly.

EDIT: That being said I understand why some people prefer the extended range and the zoomed in makes it easier to aim at a specific spot.

@meleebrawler I'd add Steelheads too, it's so useful being able to take out the bomb quickly before it's ejected.

I was playing Splatton2 in Brazil and did some salmon run. Was pretty funny a couple of my rounds I was the only player in the room so I only had to collect 2 or 3 golden eggs each time.
