Topic: SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy

I'm wanting to pick up a new fighting game for the switch whilst waiting for smash to come out in December. I saw the trailers and gameplay of the game SNK Tag Team Frenzy and not sure what to make of it. All the characters are female that are all scantily clad outfits very Japanese with focus on boobs etc so I'm wondering if that's just a cheap way of selling a crap game or is actually any good.

Has anyone played this and what did you think? Is the gameplay good or is just focused on the visuals. Is it worth paying £40 for?

This can be the general thread for this game - Octane

The LE from NIS America might be the most weeb piece of fanservice I've ever seen.

I'll give it a go this weekend and get back to you.

I need to spend more time with it. But my first impressions are: it's better than I expected, it feels polished and complete, and it's a solid fighter.

14 fighters, story mode, online with friends or strangers, customizable button mapping. Graphics and framerate are sharp and smooth. Controls are easy but tight.

Seems legit.

It's from SNK and they are known for their fighting games so it should be good. I haven't played it myself yet but Nintendo Life has a review for it if you are interested. They gave it a 7. You might want to take a look at Blade Strangers as well. It came out at the end of August and also got a 7. Both feature a bit more easily accessible fighting mechanics compared to stuff like Street Fighter and King of Fighters. I believe Blade Strangers' special moves work similarly to Smash's where each direction uses a different move.

Check out my Gaming Nonograms thread here on Nintendo Life if you are into Picross or other similar games.

Just got the game in the mail yesterday. I have Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate on suspend though, so I can't try it out until I do this quest.

I'll check it out this weekend though and report back.

I bought this game yesterday but haven't gotten around to playing it yet sadly! I will report back when I do, though!

It's an enjoyable game but I find its story incredibly lacking, I was hoping for more banter between the teams and the endings are for a lack of a better word "simple". Take the story for the characters in Street Fighter Alpha 3 (upper or max ya know the good versions) everyone's is different and unique and opens up the lore of the series. Why not be more like it?

And where's Vice and Mature? As far as Tag Teams go not having them in the game is a massive oversight!

It's easy enough but it feels like a budget game. The lack of crouch makes it feel unfinished. The text is tiny. The load times are really long. The backgrounds are static and dull. The items are a little bit funny but pretty shallow. The dream finish thing is okay but basically just a tap of R and if it connects you win. I played it once through on story mode and a bit on versus with my daughter. Already feel I'm done with it.
There is one thing, however, that is 1000% awesome. The boss defeated video is the funniest thing I've seen all summer.

The more I play this game the more I like it. DBFZ is the fighting game I'm really looking forward to, but SNK Heroines is a solid fighter and worth buying too IMO.

It's better than KoF XIV, more on par with KoF XIII but more polished. Reminds me of KoF XIII for iOS more than anything; the simple one button + d-pad special moves are executed the exact same way for both games. The inclusion of classic KoF XIII characters like Athena and Kula drive this feeling home even further. Since XIII was one of the best KoF games ever, SNK Heroines being similar is a very good thing.

Heroines is a bit light on stages though (only has 7), but makes up for it with rich customization and menu and gameplay options that make the game feel complete. The online multiplayer works good too. I'm able to jump into matches at 4am no problem so far, so people must be buying it.

It's really good. You don't have quarter circle forward type movements to worry about, just back + A or something like that. It's simplistic on the surface but you can get some really huge combos if you know what you're doing. I would recommend it for sure - way better than SF II 30th.

Alright, I played for an hour, finished the tutorial and the story mode once. I would describe SNK Heroines as an entry-level fighter. Special moves can be executed with a single button press. And I'm disappointed that item usage cannot be remapped, which means that if I use my Hori stick I can't use items since their use is hard-coded to the right analog stick.

Although the core gameplay is fun, I would pick BlazBlue CTB or SF 30th Anniversary over SNK Heroines if you're looking for a serious fighter. Because SNK Heroines is far from serious. It feels like a step up from from all those cheesy fighters from the 90's, only with superior production values. I like it, but I don't love it.

@Magician There's a patch to fix the items issue on the 20th, along with the first DLC character. I suspect we only have half the roster in the base game.

I unlocked all the artwork and have enough coins to buy all the costumes. Not seeing any reason to keep playing. It says I've been playing for less than 5 hours. I regret buying this.

There's a ton of character prologues and boss intro scenes to unlock some are very funny like kula and sylvie! At least this game has endings for every character unlike blade strangers which only had 2 (everyone's copied and pasted one and the boss's ending).

GameOtaku

riChchestM

@GameOtaku All the cutscenes follow the same skeleton. The different characters change the dialogue but it's only a couple of lines and often nonsensical. There are no special intros (that I found). The endings per character are little slideshows when the credits run and I've unlocked them all.
I still think the boss ending is hilarious.
It's not a terrible game but really only worth £12.99. It's sub-indie in scope and replayability.

Mai/Jeongs team boss intro is the funniest I've seen (don't call them old!).

Have you created a custom avatar in customization and bought the different poses and backgrounds?

I was somewhat keen at first, but the game looks pretty shallow and I already have both Street Fighter cartridges that hardly get played anyway, so I think I'll skip this.

I just don't see any point in this when Dead or Alive accomplishes everything that this aspires to, but is so, so better (characters of both sexes, more attractive/realistic looking characters, 360 degree fighting, destuctible environments etc.).

I would kill for a complete port of Dead or Alive V and I am cautiously optimistic that VI will come to the Switch, perhaps at some point after the PS4/PS4clone versions.

I picked up the game this week been playing it on and off. For the most part its ok but its over before the game has even started as it only took me around 10 to 20 mins to complete the story. I played all the different girls but would give it more re-playable if you had to unlock them rather than given all of them at the start. You get money for each fight to use on costumes in the customise menu which ok but nothing amazing. Hardly anyone online so hard to find matches and when I do I get thrashed straight away so I've avoided using that. With DBZ fighterz coming out in a few days and smash in a few months i'll probably won't be playing this again anytime soon. Not worth £40 wait until its £20 or less.
