Just got Pokémon sword and it doesn't have cloud saves. I'm having a blast with it, can't stop playing, but my switch's touch screen has stopped working. I think it's better to repair now than delay it and eventualy lose an advanced pokemon save. (I will lose splatoon 2 anyway). What should I do guys?! I know the switch has a new feature, a system reset mode that keeps the save files and users. But I'm not sure Nintendo will use that. Thoughts? Thanks for reading. I live in Brazil.
Also, if anyone is curious, i made a topic about the touch screen problem.
@RaphaBoss Gonna depend on your circumstances, but if you can get your hands on another Switch, then you could temporarily transfer your saves to that system while your original Switch is getting repaired, then transfer them back again afterwards.
You guys had me at blood and semen.
What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?
Cloud saves requires subscription to use and download and upload. It's not a free service so you have to pay Nintendo to use cloud saves. So go and look Nintendo but that means you need to have a account with them to make a subscription.
@RaphaBoss I never played Pokemon Sword and Shield, but does that game require usage of the touch screen? If so, yeah gcunit's idea might be the way to go. You could get a Switch Lite, transfer your Pokemon and Splatoon 2 saves to that, then send your regular Switch to repairs. You may want to invest in a good screen protector too.
@SwitchForce I'm pretty sure RaphaBoss knows that already, it's just that some games (like Pokemon and Splatoon 2) don't support cloud saves at all.
Although it may be out of your budget, I would recommend buying a Switch Lite and transferring all of your save data to it (and making it your primary console) while you wait for your current Switch to be repaired, and then transfer it all back after.
Even though games like Splatoon 2 and Pokémon do not support cloud saves, you can still transfer the save data to another console.
"Gee, that's really persuasive. Do you have any actual points to make other than to essentially say 'me Tarzan, physical bad, digital good'?"
@Silly_G with that price I'd rather just buy another digitzer and ask someone to reapair . There are even glass touch screens for sale that don't scratch easily like the factory plastic one. I'm currently researching what's the best option for me.
@MarioLover92 Pokémon doesn't require touch screen. The only game I own that supports it is smash bros ultimate and that's just for stage build. I don't really care much for the touch screen, but it's anoyying not having a fully functional console...
And yes, I'm already NSO subscriver and Splatoon and Pokémon don't support cloud saves, for very dumb reasons...
@RaphaBoss But if you buy a Switch Lite, treat it carefully (look after the box etc) then couldn't you sell it once you've transferred saves back to your repaired Switch?

It might be worth speaking to Nintendo customer services, they may able to say of they could save the saves or if you would loose them.
I cant believe that a modern console has no way of backing up save data when it is so prone to issues.
Hopefully Nintendo fully embraces modern online features like save backups for the upgraded switch or next console
@RaphaBoss Ah okay, I see. Didn't think so. I don't use the touch screen that much either, just for if I decide to make a level in Super Mario Maker 2.
There is an article on Nintendo's support site right here that tells you what to do when your touch screen isn't working. Best of luck.
@Mr-Fuggles777 I sent an email to them and they repleid ''we are not responsible for save data''. Also they just answer with auto reply, I can't even actualy chat with them. I'm sending my joy cons to them but I'm really unsafe about sending the switch console. It doesn't cost much to repair the touch screen and they might charge more.
