Rocket League for Switch just shown in the opening reel. IT IS HAPPENING!
Developer Psyonix wants the game running at 720p at 60 fps in the Switch’s docked and undocked mode. The developer prioritizes performance over pure visual fidelity.
Coming this Holiday.
I believe this game and the whole cross platform move is going to be revolutionary because I think this is only the beginning. This could change the face of console gaming and with it opening the door wide open for Cross-Platform gaming with basically all other platforms except for the PS4 and this puts Sony in a really awkward position. And I believe it's only a matter of time before Sony stops resisting and gives in due to sheer pressure from gamers and media. I don't think people have given this thing much of a thought but this could possibly be a game changer because once they've opened the door for this than here is what is going to happen. Sony will lose their closed environment approach and it was ok up until now to have that closed approach because everybody else were doing the thing. But not anymore. Nintendo, Microsoft and PC have dropped that. So now a gamer no longer has to buy a PS4 because he wants to play a game with his friends because all his friends have a PS4. And this is going to hurt Sony the most because they're at the top and because Sony and Microsoft rely heavily on third party support unlike Nintendo. I think Nintendo is the winner here atleast for now because when a third party game comes to a Nintendo console, gamers fear to jump in because they fear there isn't a large enough community for that game which could lead to a bad online experience. But with this that goes away. Now even on day one you have a large community. Now it's all about the gaming experience one wants from any of the gaming console they prefer.
I love Rocket League on PS4 - one of my favourite games of the last decade - I'll definitely be picking this up again on Switch! Great news about the cross-network play coming too! Can't wait!
@OorWullie It supports cross play between Switch, Xbox and PC and while they haven't confirmed anything on how the cross play will work, I think it'll let you play with friends across other platforms. I don't see them not implementing that, it just makes so much more sense. I think it will be there 👍
@StuTwo It is indeed an important game and one that is popular among the gaming community. I'm sure the developers were looking into porting the game to Switch but Were hesitant and it was Nintendo who made the first move on getting the game onboard and I think it was a great move. A move I could applaud,a move that i hoped for and a move that Nintendo should be doing more often on getting games with mass appeal. Rocket League and Nintendo switch just make perfect sense.
@Spanjard I'm not sure as they haven't mentioned Mac anywhere and only Windows, but I think it's a possibility as it shouldn't be too much work for them. Like they recently said about the PS4 version that they literally only have to tick a box in their server and everything will be up and running.

But I just recently picked it up on Steam as it was on sale and played it for four hours straight on my first night. It's very 'just one more game-y' and perfect for Switch, if a little overdue.

Rocket League is perfect for the Switch not just from a hardware perspective, but from a marketing perspective as well. It fits in perfectly with the Switch's marketing angle and target demographic seen in the ads.
I was meaning to get this game at some point, must've been a sign when I saved the display card for this game from the TRESH.
The cross platform play is also NOICE, because I don't plan on getting an Xbone, and my cousins who have an Xbone don't plan on getting a Switch, so00o0o0o0o YEEah, will rev up those rockets!

For anyone sitting on the fence - if you like competitive multiplayer games, I really can't recommend this game enough!
The aesthetic may not scream 'next gen' but, I assure you, this is a real highlight of modern gaming! ..the whole game is built on the foundations of an excellent, Breath of the Wild-esque physics engine - everything just works - on top of that, they've built a very fun, super-addictive game!
The matches are varied, balanced, frantic and fun - the matchmaking system is great, pairing you with players of a similar ability - the progression system is fair; no performance upgrades, just fun little items to add a bit of custom flair to your vehicle of choice - if a player drops out, a decent AI player will take their place until a replacement drops in, ensuring that the action remains fluid and fair - cross-network play is an absolute revelation (the future!) - there are free content updates with non-money grabbing DLC items thrown in if you want to add a little extra to your game (but, again, they're always balanced - you won't be at any sort of a disadvantage if you choose not to) - and it should all come at an indie price (currently $19.99 on Steam), so it's a low risk investment if you're unsure!
I highly recommend it...just like with BotW - once you get the hang of the basics, you'll be totally addicted & have no regrets whatsoever!
I don't get the hype about this game at all. My first impression was that it looks like Blast Ball. Not trying to be inflammatory, I'm just honestly curious about why this game is such a big deal to so many people.

@nf_2 I kind of felt like that before I tried it - maybe it's just one of those games that you have to play to truly appreciate? Once you get a feel for it, it kind of sucks you in and keeps you there!
Do you think the Switch-exclusive hats will be visible to players on other systems, or would Nintendo not approve of that? They should, if you ask me - imagine an Xbox player finding themselves in a room full of players wearing Mario hats, as if to say "look, we're all playing on Switch because it's awesome, you should buy one too". Granted, they might find that annoying...
