This is a forum dedicated to the impending release of Virtual Console for Nintendo Switch. I also threw in the Arcade Archives and Psykio games as they’re pretty much Virtual Console and are so good they deserve to be in the mix.
My dream list of consoles for the Virtual Console are as follows.
Nintendo:
NES
SNES
N64
GameCube
Wii
Game Boy
Game Boy Color
Virtual Boy
Game Boy Advance
3rd Party:
Sega Master System
Sega Genesis (Mega Drive)
Sega CD
Sega 32x
Sega Saturn
Sega DreamCast
Sega Game Gear
Turbo Graphx 16
Neo Geo Pocket
Neo Geo Pocket Color

It is indeed optimism. Nintendo wouldn’t abandon the virtual console. Now as for how its going to work is anybody’s guess. Its looking like it has something to do with the online service. @Tasuki

Im actually stunned that the Arcade Archives isn’t considered virtual console either. Nevertheless its been much better than the Virtual Console Arcade line we got on Wii. @neufel

@MotionMan I know, and usually I'd say that solely as a joke, but Nintendo is working alongside Hamster for their official Arcade Releases so who knows? Maybe they'll outsource other ones to them too?
The reason Arcade Archives isn't branded as VC is because it has absolutely nothing to do with VC or Nintendo for that matter, well outside of the actual Nintendo arcade releases. The Arcade Archives existed on PS4 long before the Switch was even revealed and the Neo Geo releases began on PS4 and Xbox One at the beginning of this year. There are some Neo Geo games Hamster have put on Switch that have yet to release elsewhere but it works the other way too. For example, this week's release Pulstar has been on the other consoles and PC for several months, as has the upcoming King of the Monsters. Next week we get Double Dragon Arcade, that's been on PS4 since last year.
If Nintendo had still decided to brand this as VC they could be rightly criticised for it.
The "Arcade Archives" have nothing to do with the Virtual Console or Nintendo. They're published by Hamster Corp. and are handled like regular Switch eShop releases. They won't be part of a future Switch Virtual Console. Whatever the Switch Virtual Console is going to be, it will be a separate service from the Arcade Archives.
I have bought Super Mario Bros but the audio doesn't sound right. I have seen a video of the japanese version and the audio was ok. I bought the game in the european eShop. Anybody else had this issue?
I used to be a ripple user like you, then I took The Arrow in the knee
1. Phone Nintendo
2. Tell Nintendo Issue
3. Threaten Nintendo to fix the issue in 24 hours, or you will sell your Switch/and 3DS.
4. Put phone down
5. Shout out loud saying: "Hahaha I am strong".
Virtual console should always be available. If Hollywood can keep releasing classic films including that silly overrated Christmas film “It’s a Wonderful Life” with the childish guardian angel onto new formats then Nintendo can do the same with their classic games.
I feel likes its super convinient. Plus with the switch and its many play options, it could breath new life into some of these classic games. Take Balloon Fight for Example. Already a great game, but being able to split the joy cons and just playing the 2 player mode in tabletop would be so amazing. Same goes for games like Super Mario Kart, Donkey Kong Country and even Ice Climber. @Don

Wow, this thread has been dead for months, and I'm sad to see it. Retro gaming is something I thought Switch owners would appreciate more.
Anyway, I wanted to say I'm disappointed with the sparsity of Arcade Archives Nintendo games. I mean I don't want them to be released weekly as Neo Geo line, but why bi-monthly or worse?
Arcade Archives Mario Bros. was out on September 27th and VS. Super Mario Bros. on December 22nd. Last week Punch-Out!! was released, after more than three months. Why Nintendo's arcade games get released so slowly?
