@Emperor-Palpsy The human genome is about 1.5 GB worth in data, 512 should be more than enough.
Yes, but there's quite a bit of redundancy. You're multi trillion cell RAID 1. So if you striped the data instead it'd be a bit more than the 0.5TB you can get on a microSD card. Just a bit more....
Probably get 200gb. I like to have digitial copies to save space from cases/carrying cartridges. I'm also not above "cleaning the fridge." If I'm not playing it, I don't need it on the system.

You raise a good point. If the eshop ui makes it really simple for us to see our purchased titles and redownload them, or even see them as ghost icons on the screen or something, that'd make a big difference to me needing more space.
"Cleaning the fridge" is also going to be much more viable now that saves aren't tied to game data. Especially if instead of having to re-download you could, in theory, shift the data over to a HDD attached to the dock. Re-downloading 20GB on <10Mbps internet? Ugh. Shifting it from a HDD at ~600Mbps? I can deal with that.

"Don't stir the pot" is a nice way of saying "they're too dumb to reason with"
@skywake This sounds like a great idea. It's kinda what I do with Apple music. I download albums I want for when I'm on the go, and just switch them around when I'm at a hotspot or at home. Although to be honest, I see myself playing the Switch undocked a lot, so I would still probably upgrade to a better card when the old one is almost full.
@AlliMeadow
How great it is does depend on how annoying it becomes. If you're doing it all the time and the process is slow? It's not particularly great. For example on the Wii when you had to make space for every game once you hit 512MB. Or a game like Doom that's a 50GB download, just in general.
If they do eventually support HDD expansion? Swapping data around could be pretty painless. Especially given that all of your save data is on the internal storage. What if the external HDD becomes a backup for downloads of every game downloaded to any Switch that docks into it? And then instead of letting you play games from the HDD it's more of a "quick download" for games you want to swap back in. So instead of downloading it at whatever your internet speed is you can copy it from the HDD at >500Mbps

I'll wait for a while and see if I even need much extra space. Assuming I do, I'll probably opt for a 64 GB card.
That's exactly what I'm doing. I'm planning on going mostly retail when I can, so I'll see where that gets me and upgrade from there. I MAY get a 128GB just to be safe and I like the freedom of knowing I HAVE space, but I'm not super concerned just yet.
I'm looking at the sandisk 200gb class 10. But having all my games downloaded digitally, would there be a load time/speed difference then having hard copy game? Would the speed just be milliseconds difference or actually noticeable?
I bought a 200gb card off Amazon for about £70 seemed like a good deal and should keep me going for a while.
Love is just a developed version of lust, which is nothing more than an evolutionary tool. Thus, the universe is a cold lonely place devoid of magic or genuine affection. also shoes are made by gnomes.
B&H Photo & Video has the SanDisk 256GB MicroSDXC card on sale for $119.95 (free shipping and no tax for me in Illinois). Not exactly cheap, but it seems like a good price for a card that consistently sits around $200 from Amazon.
I've seen a Hori carry case that has compartments for 2 memory cards, so I'm guessing you can 'Switch' (pun intended) between cards.
With this in mind I'm planning on investing in a small to mid sized card with a good writing speed, and possibly buy another later which will:
a: Spread the cost.
b: Make sure I'm not buying memory I'll never use.
c: Protect me that if one card fails, I won't lose EVERYTHING, only half.
Isn't it obvious that Falco Lombardi is actually a parrot?
I ended up getting a 128 from Amazon. They had the Zelda Arts and Artifacts book on sale so since I was getting one figured get the card and have it ready.
Still very curious how Nintendo will handle past purchases. Worst case is that nothing can be transferred and I will have them on the Wii U which I was not getting rid of anyway. Best case all VC switches free and I will have plenty of room. Most likely upgrade fee and I can pick and choose between whats work keeping on the WiiU and what is worth switching over.
