I’d like an opinion on whether or not this is worth getting replaced, and/or has the possibility of getting worse over time. It seems to be worse at some times than others but is noticeable if you look for it. It’s especially noticeable on constant dark greyish colours. An example is that it is quite noticeable on the dark theme on the home screen or the night time in BotW. I’ve compared it to two other friends Switches and they don’t have the same issue (although one did for some reason have a noticeably lower brightness than my Switch when both set to full brightness). I’m worried if I try to replace it I they might not replace it or I’ll get another one that’s worse and I don’t want to have to replace 2 in a row.
@Priva28 If you're going to be comparing Switches, I guess it's probably worth knowing if you're comparing the V1 (version 1) Switch, or the slightly revised V2 that came out a couple years later.
If you were to try a new Switch, and you're nice to the store manager, you can ask to open the box and turn it on to make sure the screen lighting looks ok.
@WoomyNNYes They were all V2 (-001) switches. I guess I could give it a go and try and get one with a better screen. Also, I’ve already had it a month so I’d prefer not to lose my game data. Do you think they’d let me take the time to transfer my data to the new switch?
@Priva28 I would be worried about attempting a data transfer at a store for the first time with the pressure of a store employee waiting on you. I think you'll want the time and space to do it on your own time at home, with access to Nintendo Support's page for doing a system transfer. Unless someone else has a better idea, I guess I'd get approval for the return, buy the new one, bring it home to do the transfer, and then return your old Switch after you've completed the transfer.
