I feel that if Goldeneye 007 is coming to Switch around the same time as Xbox it'll be a Direct announcement. Directs seem to get more attention than random Xbox trailers and I don't think it's likely Xbox will have an event prior to E3 outside of an indie stream.
@NintendoByNature Goldeneye is a much bigger deal than Banjo though, Goldeneye on the N64 sold more than the two Banjo games combined as well as Zelda and Smash plus it has mystique from popularizing the FPS genre and not being available for so long.
They wouldn't spend 10 minutes of a Direct on it but it's definitely news worthy and they wouldn't just shadow drop Goldeneye onto the expansion. It's bit of a shame they didn't release it at the same time as No Time To Die to capitalise on Bond hype.
If it does come out I'm looking forward to re-enacting the Craig Bond films by moping about that Eva Green is still dead through all 5 of his films! ;p
@VoidofLight I have to agree with you about releasing games half done and then updating when I buy a game I usually play it to death, then I done with it. Although I must say that there was a game they did this too and I thought it was the right thing to do, the original Splatoon which I believe one of the earlier games to do this, it just felt right to be given the new ideas and concepts that way, then it didn't feel overwhelming from the start.
As far as the next Nintendo Direct, it's my birthday on the 14th and Nintendo have generally wanted to celebrate that with a direct. Maybe this time it will be a pokemon one...
@MarioBrickLayer no, the Pokémon Company always do his own events to showcase it new games, with no relation to a Nintendo Direct, the first general Nintendo Direct will problaby happen after Pokémon Legend Arceus release.
Less than 45 minutes until 3pm GMT. With Legends Arceus launching in only 23 days it feels like we'll get something this week whether an announcement of a Pokemon Presents, a shadow dropped trailer or Pokemon returning to being in Directs (last time Pokemon was in a Direct was March 2020).
Probably a Pokemon Legends: Arceus-specific Direct sometime between now and the game's launch at the end of the month. Probably a Partner Showcase less than a month later, simply because we haven't had a Partner Showcase for over a year, last one was October 2020. And then probably a main Direct in March that will most likely disappoint the Nintendo fandom (no BotW 2, no Metroid Prime 4 or Metroid Prime Remake, no Xenoblade Chronicles 3, no Mario Kart 9, etc) because...you know...E3 is only a few months later, and Nintendo doesn't want to give the presumptuous tinfoil hat guessers everything they want at once.
Switch Physical Collection - 1,537 games (as of December 22nd, 2025)
Switch 2 Physical Collection - 4 games (as of December 8th, 2025)
@Magician Can’t see them doing a direct all the way in March, unless this year ends up being another 2020 for them, and every game for this year gets delayed 2 more years.

I honestly think that an online-only e3 is the better way of going about it. More people can attend that way, and there's no need for people to actually rent out a building to do it. The only issue is that no places are going to do demos for e3, when it's easy to just release those demos on the system storefronts honestly.

Friend Notifications on January 11th, Transferring data and users as well as Network services on January 13th (these are all early morning GMT). I wonder what acquisition of stage information means, would be cool if there was a Direct on January 12th and it had a Splatoon 3 Global Testfire as a shadow drop announcement.
