@VoidofLight 'sabotaging them for evergreen sales.' Never has someone sounded more like a Sony fan hahah. (just poking fun, please don't take too seriously)
I never drive faster than I can see. Besides, it's all in the reflexes.
@Voidoflight What do you mean by "sabotaging them for evergreen sales"? Is it the whole "multiple updates afterwards" thing you're referring to? Because I'm assuming one of the examples you're thinking of is ACNH which, while a bit barren at launch, seems to me at least (someone who hasn't played it) like it's been heavily overhauled and expanded since then. Is it just the idea of "release now, do later" that's bothering you? In which case I understand completely.

@Fizza Yes, the "Release now, finish later" thing is what kind of ruins games for me, at least Nintendo's games. They did this with Mario Golf, Mario Tennis Aces, Kirby Star Allies, and Animal Crossing New Horizons... and each time, they constantly get high sales for doing it.

From the outside, I feel like Mario Golf's issues have nothing to do with post launch updates and I doubt post launch updates will make it a beloved classic. Like they had three years to make a golf game, at some point there's a bigger problem then updates.
I do strongly with Kirby Star Allies. Why on Earth would you take LESS TIME to release the first mainline HD Kirby game than previous games? That makes no sense.
@Octane The chip shortage that makes it impossible for Nintendo to even manufacture normal switches at the moment. It'll probably last for a few more years, given they said 2022 would be better, then went back on that saying that 2022 is going to be even worse for the shortage.
eh, kinda. There are different levels of capacity for manufacturing silicon on different processes. In normal times a smaller process would open up as capacity for larger processes start to ramp down. The current silicon shortage is a combination of projections for lower demand, actual increased demand and lower than expected yields on newer processes. Nintendo's issues are mostly due to the higher demand but they're isolated a bit because the Tegra SoC is on a 16nm process which hasn't been impacted as much (7-12nm is where most of the pain is)
But the world keeps turning, eventually chip manufacturers will want to ramp down 16nm. Which means a refresh of the Switch SoC to move to a smaller process (the launch Switch was on 20nm so they've done this before). But if they do that? There's still a huge demand for those smaller processes. NVidia is literally making new 16/20 series GPUs on the older 12nm process in order to meet demand (and selling them for double the original RRP).
Nintendo will hit a supply crunch if they move to a smaller process given the existing huge demand for those smaller processes. But if they don't move they'll be hit by a supply crunch as chip makers wind down those larger processes. Either way they get hit, and it's not like the Switch is a product they can build up stock for....

@VoidofLight Switch is still selling well, so that only means they're also making them. If they can make regular Switches, they should be able to manufacture some kind of successor. Though it will probably be difficult to find, just like the PS5 and Series X.
@TommyTendo It has the opposite effect. I just drop the game after a week, due to the lack of content to keep me invested. I see it as a rip-off, and either sell the game, or move on.

@Octane that’s a reason I hope to god they don’t make a new one. I don’t want to have to pay a scalper 1,000 bucks just to get a system that lets me play a game I can’t run on the regular switch.

I feel that if Goldeneye 007 is coming to Switch around the same time as Xbox it'll be a Direct announcement. Directs seem to get more attention than random Xbox trailers and I don't think it's likely Xbox will have an event prior to E3 outside of an indie stream.
@NintendoByNature Goldeneye is a much bigger deal than Banjo though, Goldeneye on the N64 sold more than the two Banjo games combined as well as Zelda and Smash plus it has mystique from popularizing the FPS genre and not being available for so long.
They wouldn't spend 10 minutes of a Direct on it but it's definitely news worthy and they wouldn't just shadow drop Goldeneye onto the expansion. It's bit of a shame they didn't release it at the same time as No Time To Die to capitalise on Bond hype.
If it does come out I'm looking forward to re-enacting the Craig Bond films by moping about that Eva Green is still dead through all 5 of his films! ;p
@VoidofLight I have to agree with you about releasing games half done and then updating when I buy a game I usually play it to death, then I done with it. Although I must say that there was a game they did this too and I thought it was the right thing to do, the original Splatoon which I believe one of the earlier games to do this, it just felt right to be given the new ideas and concepts that way, then it didn't feel overwhelming from the start.
As far as the next Nintendo Direct, it's my birthday on the 14th and Nintendo have generally wanted to celebrate that with a direct. Maybe this time it will be a pokemon one...
@MarioBrickLayer no, the Pokémon Company always do his own events to showcase it new games, with no relation to a Nintendo Direct, the first general Nintendo Direct will problaby happen after Pokémon Legend Arceus release.
Less than 45 minutes until 3pm GMT. With Legends Arceus launching in only 23 days it feels like we'll get something this week whether an announcement of a Pokemon Presents, a shadow dropped trailer or Pokemon returning to being in Directs (last time Pokemon was in a Direct was March 2020).
