There are pokemon "Leaks" happening now for the diamond and pearl remakes that are.. annoying, since it's just someone posting unproven things on instagram, and people believing it. They just posted how at e3 they're going to reveal brand new character models due to the backlash of the old ones.. and that the sinnoh underground was going to be smaller than in the originals, with no actual credibility. People are believing these rumors and saying that Gamefreak is "Lazy", despite there being virtually no proof, and not to mention that one of these rumors got straight up debunked by the official website, where they mention the game is aiming to achieve the feel the original had, and faithfully reproduced the maps and story.
It's difficult to find the distinction between half-truths and full blown bs. Folks consider both far too seriously, oftentimes full blown bs bleeds into becoming assumed half-truths. The rumor mill is a jumbled craziness, but that's why rumors are fun. Why so serious?

@Magician That's the main reason I just don't care for rumors anymore. I'm just tired of people taking them 100% seriously, then causing an uproar when they don't happen. I also hate it when these rumors have no backing, yet spread false info that damages the game, or when people charge people for "leaks", like a certain pokemon "leaker" on twitter.

I have to wonder with the confusion over 2D vs. 3D DK if it's a little of both and if they're trying to find a way to hybridize 2D and 3D gameplay somehow. There's been multiple gameplay styles that have tried this in the past, Super Paper Mario and recent Sonic games are the big ones that stick in my mind, but I'm wondering if they can do a full hybrid, and more importantly do it well. It would be very economical if Nintendo could somehow make a game that satisfies both 2D gameplay and 3D gameplay so we don't need things like say, a NSMB game and a 3D Land/3D World game when they both play fairly similarly otherwise. Any thoughts on how or even if it could work?
@Bolt_Strike
In my opinion Yooka-Laylee and the impossible Lair did an interesting mix between 2D and 3D. The levels were 2D, but they were connected by a 3D overworld.
Honestly the main reason I never complain about Directs is because I don’t look at leaks or rumours. People who do get their hopes up and blame Nintendo even though they did absolutely nothing. I just watch the Direct, accept what we get, and be happy about it. When you look at leaks, you get mad at a wonderful direct just because it didn’t announce some random game that you want.
Heigh Ho Heigh Ho. It’s off to work (from home) I go.
@BabyYoda71 I'm the same honestly. I do get a bit disappointed when we don't hear about games I'm interested in, or if there's nothing that really stands out to me in a direct, but I don't just say the direct itself was terrible, since I have no expectations. People usually just go into it expecting too much, and then end up disappointed, complaining about it until the next direct where it get's "leaked", and it just happens yet again.

@dionysos283 I don't consider Impossible Lair to be a true hybrid because it switches during different phases of the game. Also the top down style of the hub world is also considered 2D (see: Zelda), a true 3D gameplay style would have the camera behind the character's back and have more verticality to the level design. A hybrid in my eyes would switch in level.
So basically you want a Donkey Kong flavored Crash Bandicoot 4?

@Bolt_Strike
Fair point. I'm curious how a true mix between 2D and 3D platforming would look like. But most likely the new DK game will just be a 2D platformer.
Hmm, Age of Calamity season pass release date is soon. Preorders are redeemed on May 21st and the purchase bonus which we don't know specifics other than weapon + costume for Link goes live on May 28th. I wonder whether Nintendo will be like "here's the purchase bonus, no more info until E3" or reveal Wave 1 (June 2021) before May 28th.
It'll also be interesting to see when Nintendo will start promoting the June 1st party titles (DC Super Hero Girls, Game Builder Garage, Mario Golf Super Rush).
@Magician All right, saw it now. This is basically what the Modern Sonic games did (Unleashed, Colors, Generations, Lost World, Forces), transitioned between 2D and 3D mid level. Not sure if that's what I would want, it does feel a bit too restrictive out of a hybrid, but that is an option. What would be better would be if they could get a Super Paper Mario system to work, where you could switch at will. But SPM's platforming was relatively simplistic and I'm not sure if it could really work with something like DK. At any rate, I'm just spitballing here, this is more of a "it would be nice if this could work" than a "I want this to happen".
Mario: There's always something Mario branded for the Holidays, so we'll probably get something, even if only something on the level of a new Mario Party (If the rumours of an internally developed DK are true though, it's entirely possible that they bring the franchise full circle and tie it back to the Mario series much more closely than it has been since Country, at which point it may count as the "Mario" game).
Zelda: BotW2 either autumn 2021 or sometime 2022. I really don't see WW &/or TP coming any time soon if BotW2 is late 2021 or early 2022 (likely early 2022 filler titles if BotW2 is late 2022).
Metroid: Confirmation that Prime 4 is still coming (maybe with a trailer?), with either Prime Trilogy HD OR a 2D game (Fusion remake, or new) acting as filler, launching in August or September.
Pokemon: BD/SP launching autumn, maybe a new trailer for Legends
Bayonetta 3: Launching October. Have no idea why people think this thing is MP4 levels of not coming soon. It was announced in 2017, and development is always said to be going smoothly whenever it's mentioned, so this could easily be a quick turnaround after full reveal.
Monolith: If that medieval RPG announcement from a few years ago isn't vaporware it could show up. Maybe autumn 2021 if BotW2 doesn't release this year, maybe they hold it until 2022 (and reveal it at a later Direct) otherwise.
Kirby: probably has something to show soon, but unsure whether it'll be at E3. Could be an early 2022 title they don't reveal until a later Direct.
3rd Party: Honestly, I'd be happy if they kept pumping Switch full of 6th & 7th gen ports (give me Force Unleashed, Wii Klonoa, Tales, Rouge Squadron, etc.). Also wouldn't be surprised to see the Xbox rumours come to fruition, but it'll just be something like the N64 Banjo or Perfect Dark game(s) or maybe the original Halo, and certainly not Game Pass.

@Slowdive I mean, I openly admitted being wrong about 3D-All Stars, and backed the Labo leak lol. Just because someone thinks a rumor is going to be another one of those big fake ones, doesn't mean they distrust everything a leaker says.
Klonoa should stay dead, it's pretty much a poor man's Kirby minus copy abilities (which you know, is what makes Kirby fun and interesting). Not the 7th gen port I want to see return. I'd be more interested in the 360/PS3 version of Sonic Unleashed and Sonic Generations, The Orange Box, and Portal 2. Now those are some amazing 7th gen 3rd party games.
