@GrailUK nah, I just took it as a discussion rather than anything else but I have the same problem at times so don’t worry about it.

I look forward to our next argument about what is a more stupid idea, Doshin The Giant 2 or Odama 2.

@Grumblevolcano That’s just a repeat of the 2018 direct. I really hope this doesn’t happen at all.

Except in 2018, they had a massive new game coming out rather than one or two DLC characters. Focussing on one small DLC pack would be a surefire way to get laughed off the stage at E3.

VoidofLight

@Euler Exactly. A smash direct for e3, just focusing on two dlc fighters.. would be weak, especially if they spent 30 whole minutes on 2 fighters.

Yeah, half an E3 direct dedicated to an already half released season pass is just nuts. If they haven’t got anything else I could see then trying to turn into a Nintendo World Championship or Zelda anniversary retrospective special instead.

I think Nintendo wouldn't dedicate that much time to Smash at E3 2021 if it was just the 2 challenger packs but I feel that the final update may be more than Challenger Pack 11 and Mii costumes. I have ideas for what I think may happen:

  • Rest of the retro stages
  • Expansion to World of Light taking into account DLC content
  • A new or returning mode
  • More challenges added
  • My Nintendo Rewards (e.g. buy the completed mural for [insert number of Platinum Points])

If it is that the only remaining content is Challenger Packs 10 and 11 as well as 2 batches of Mii costumes, I think the E3 Direct would be more traditional with Challenger Pack 10 opening the Direct and Challenger Pack 11 closing the Direct.

To be honest that just sounds like sloppy editing.

E3 2019 started with Hero and the penultimate announcement was Banjo.

@Grumblevolcano it was sloppy then too. ;p

@Grumblevolcano Honestly, that'd be extremely underwhelming. Almost the entire direct dedicated to updates for a game that's been out for 3-4 years already.. I can see one single DLC fighter being revealed, but I can't see them spending over half the e3 direct talking about smash updates.

I still reckon there's a chance for a mini-Direct before E3.

Nintendo generaly needs at least three months for games to be announced for a physical release so if they only announce stuff at E3 then their next game is Sep after Skyward Sword in June. However since theres multiple releases coming in May and June from them I would have thought they would bump two of them to July and Aug. My money would be on some casual game stuff in the mold of Clubhouse, Style Savvy, Nintendogs etc where it doesn't matter if it's not revealed at E3 as those gamers who follow E3 wouldn't give a shortcake if it was at E3 anyway.

@jump I honestly doubt we’ll get anything direct related. We might get another pokemon presents, but that’s it.

@VoidofLight Party pooper ;p

I don’t see why not. They have done plenty of (non-full) Directs in the few months building up to E3 before and they have got to plug their release calendar somehow.

I'm sure, previously, we had Pokemon Directs just before E3. Not saying it's standard, but we could get something before E3 begins.

They have to pump out info for the remaining pre E3 released games like Famicom Detective Club, Miitopia and DC Super Teen Girl at least. These are full priced games with not much done to show them off yet. Seriously I haven’t got a clue what the DC Bratz game is and I find it odd Ninty are releasing it all.

Mario Golf Direct in May is likely, since 2014 for the main April - June title there's been either a standalone Direct or a spotlight in a Direct that isn't dedicated to a franchise/game (i.e. general Direct, Direct Mini)

  • 2014 - Mario Kart 8 - Launched May 30th 2014, had a Mario Kart 8 Direct on April 30th 2014
  • 2015 - Splatoon - Launched May 28th 2015, had a Splatoon Direct on May 7th 2015
  • 2016 - Star Fox Zero + Guard - Launched April 22nd 2016, had a spotlight in the March 3rd 2016 general Direct
  • 2017 - ARMS - Launched June 16th 2017, had an ARMS Direct on May 17th 2017
  • 2018 - Mario Tennis Aces - Launched June 22nd 2018, had a spotlight segment in the March 8th 2018 general Direct
  • 2019 - Mario Maker 2 - Launched June 28th 2019, had a Mario Maker 2 Direct on May 15th 2019
  • 2020 - Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition - Launched May 29th 2020, had a spotlight segment in the March 26th 2020 Direct Mini

As it already got a spotlight segment in the February 2021 Direct but we still know so little about the game, I think Mario Golf Direct is more likely than a Direct Mini with Mario Golf having a spotlight segment.

Regarding Pokemon, there'll probably be a Pokemon Presents a week or 2 before E3 with a focus on DP remakes and/or Unite as TPC does things their own way.

I miss Nintendo's old leadership. They are getting more greedy. I miss the satoru iwata days.

Destiny, justice and retribrution will be mine.

VoidofLight

I don't think Nintendo's more greedy. I just think that they're weaker now in terms of software, but yet get rewarded for it, since people will keep buying it no matter what.

Weaker? I think Nintendo are on fire! Can't wait to see what they show at E3!
