@WoomyNNYes I remember that e3, and it being the only time I literally yelled out loud due to reacting to it. It doesn't help that I was pretty young back then.
"It is fate. Many have tried, yet none have ever managed to escape it's flow."
@Grumblevolcano this may explain why all 2021 update of Animal Crossing New Horizons so far have been so lackluster so far(that disapointing to know, i expected at least a big/major update for Animal Crossing New Horizons that bring the third and final expansion to Museum/Nook Cranny).
@Giancarlothomaz I'm surprised Animal Crossing is getting such a dwindling amount of support now. On one hand the whole game revolves around seasons so content updates would be all but mandatory I'd imagine. But on the other hand if the content updates are lessening means the AC staff are working on something else!
Currently playing:
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
Persona 4 Golden
Dragon Quest XI S
F1 23
Xenoblade Chronicles 2
@TheJGG i see what do you imagine the Animal Crossing New Horizons development team is currently working on?now that all 2021 update of the game is so lackluster so far, the 2.0 update need to be huge, since most Nintendo games that have updates that reach 2.0/3.0 and so on added huge features to the games, Splatoon 2 been a prime example for that.
@Giancarlothomaz I think that if there's only a skeleton crew working on the game the majority of staff has been distributed to work on other projects. The worst case scenario is that Nintendo plans to loop the pre-existing seasons for the rest of the game's shelf life.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2
@TheJGG That’d be highly disappointing, and would make this probably the worst in the series honestly if they leave the game in an unfinished state like this
"It is fate. Many have tried, yet none have ever managed to escape it's flow."
@Giancarlothomaz That would be a slam dunk Direct right there and I think it's actually pretty realistic. Between Nintendo's silence the entirety of last year due to the pandemic and several development teams not having released anything for 3+ years, you have to figure a blowout of games is coming. I think this will be one of the better E3s, right up there with 2014 and 2017.
Honestly, I wouldn't expect that many projects being revealed. Especially since developers are saying to expect the struggles with the virus to be more apparent within the industry this year.
Edit: And again, I wouldn't expect a switch revision at all. Nintendo revealed earlier that they can barely keep up with normal switch production due to shortages, so I highly highly doubt that we're getting a revision when they can't even manufacture enough normal consoles as is..
@VoidofLight Honestly I don't see it, especially on Nintendo's side. Just compare what we've already gotten this year, before the busiest time of year for the industry (E3 in terms of announcements, Q4 in terms of releases), and they've already been more active this year than throughout the entirety of last year. The drought of announcements/releases last year combined with a return to more normal activity this year implies that Nintendo struggled a lot more last year and they're starting to pick back up again. That might be true for other developers, I don't follow them as closely but I do know that they still managed to keep things rolling last year, so maybe this year things reverse and the other developers slow down while Nintendo gets things rolling (not sure why that would be the case, maybe Microsoft/Sony releasing new hardware has something to do with it or maybe it's a cultural thing because they both operate like Western companies). But certainly in Nintendo's case, they're not showing signs that they're still struggling, they actually look like they're starting to pick things back up.
@Bolt_Strike I hope.. but unless I see it, I'm going to just wait and see. You can kind of already see the drop in quality in some companies games, like with Bravely Default II, where the ending feels more rushed due to not having enough time to really finish development.
"It is fate. Many have tried, yet none have ever managed to escape it's flow."
@VoidofLight Bravely Default II is Square Enix, not Nintendo. Nintendo's the one currently having a better 2021 than 2020.
2020:
Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Paper Mario: The Origami King
Super Mario 3D All Stars
Pikmin 3 Deluxe
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity
2021:
Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury
New Pokemon Snap
Mario Golf: Super Rush
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD
Pokemon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl
We also had a full size Nintendo Direct, and are likely getting another one at E3, when we didn't have one all year last year. So yeah, 2021 is already better than 2020 hands down, and it can only get better after E3.
@Bolt_Strike Wouldn't you think it would have been a wise strategy to buffer game development between Nintendo's development teams, so that there's no gap years in terms of releases?
Currently playing:
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
Persona 4 Golden
Dragon Quest XI S
F1 23
Xenoblade Chronicles 2
@Bolt_Strike To be honest in terms of the actual content, outside of Smash I'd say the March 2020 Direct Mini was a lot stronger than the February 2021 general Direct. I overall prefer the February 2021 general Direct but only because of the experience of general Directs (it being hosted on Nintendo Life with the chat and the speculation beforehand).
@Bolt_Strike that true, Nintendo in 2021 so far seen to be much better compared to what she was in 2020, in term of first/third party release, it look like Nintendo 2021/2022 may surpass 2017/2019 lineup specially if higly antecipated games like Bayonetta 3 and Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild 2 release this year or in the begining of 2022.
@Bolt_Strike Depends on how you look at it, Animal Crossing: New Horizons alone has a good chance of selling more than all of the combined 2021 games you mentioned.
In any case get Shin Megami Tensei V dated for 2021 and then I'm happy with this year already.
Nintendo's the one currently having a better 2021 than 2020.
2020:
Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Paper Mario: The Origami King
Super Mario 3D All Stars
Pikmin 3 Deluxe
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity
2021:
Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury
New Pokemon Snap
Mario Golf: Super Rush
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD
Pokemon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl
Your list for 2020 is not correct. It's more like this:
Dr. Kawashima's Brain Training for Nintendo Switch
Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE Encore
Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX
Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition
Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics
Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Paper Mario: The Origami King
Super Mario 3D All Stars
Pikmin 3 Deluxe
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity
And 2021 so far has mostly ports/remakes, just like 2020. The only new releases this year are New Pokemon Snap and Mario Golf. And the only months left are Sep, Oct, Nov (and maybe Dec). We already know that we'll probably get more Zelda ports this year, so only 2 months left. Pokemon remakes come in the fall, so only one month left. So it could very well be that we'll only get 3 brand new titles and 2020 also had 3 big new titles. So I don't see where 2021 is already a better year than 2020.
@dionysos283 Just being pedantic but you left out new-new Nintendo published releases for this year too like DC Girls (or whatever its called) and Buddy Mission: Bond got a Japan release this year and looks 50/50 for getting localized.
