@Slowdive so the myterious Monolith Soft game release on Nintendo current fiscal year? if the new anouncement of Capcom is not Resident Evil, what franchise could be? the higly antecipated 2D Metroid game that continues the Metroid Fusion history and a 3D/2D Donkey Kong releasing this current fiscal year?
@Slowdive That seems almost certain. The game is probably around 4 years into development, the medieval ARPG has to be launching sometime soon if it's not cancelled.
@TheJGG Prude ;p There's a difference between objectifying women and women being sexualized.
I don't even know what on earth "objectifying" actually means in the context of fictional characters. I mean they're all literally objects that are created purely to serve the interests of the player, who don't really have any personality or agency outside of that function, so how exactly is a sexually attractive character "objectified" any more than any other character in the game is? Why isn't the weapon's shop owner in an RPG also "objectified"? They usually exist purely just to serve that 1 function, and we rarely care about them as a character outside of their ability to perform that single function.
@Slowdive Skyward Sword HD was easy to predict, since it was hinted at a few years back, so that doesn't really add much credibility. They just got lucky.
Edit: Also I doubt Xenoblade X will ever get ported, since the game is absolutely massive, and you need huge external storage in order to download all the datapacks for the game.

32GB cartridges have been a thing for a while and 64GB is definitely on the cards at this stage. Really, the Wii U had 25GB discs so any game size that was possible on the Wii U is possible on the Switch.

@Slowdive Yes, that’s what I like! For me the top two games that should be put on Switch, because it all makes sense from a marketing perspective. One completes arguably the best Nintendo RPG series of all time, by having all three entries on Switch, and the other sets up very nicely for a long dormant series.
@VoidofLight There’s no reason why not. The game had a size of about 22GB without the loading, and graphics packs, and about 25 with. I’d say it’s very much possible not only because of the size but because of the control scheme and graphics. Changing some stuff like FrontierNav would be very easy. And with the increased processing capacity there could be increased draw distance, or 60fps. The game already ran at a native 720p so all said and done it’s great the game’s only 22GB.

@TheJGG Ah, my bad. I thought it was way more, especially since I had to use a literal flashdrive to just be able to play the game itself. Seeing as a normal Switch card can hold the game though, I feel like it shouldn't be that much of a problem.
"It is fate. Many have tried, yet none have ever managed to escape it's flow."
I might end up getting X again if it comes to switch, since it's the only modern xeno game that I didn't actually complete, asides from Torna. The main reason I never bothered to complete X was just due to the game not really clicking with me, and then I heard the story wasn't as good as the others, so I never bothered to go back and play it.
"It is fate. Many have tried, yet none have ever managed to escape it's flow."
I stopped playing because the last major sidequest I was gonna do before the final chapter kept killing me no matter what I tried. That's really unfortunate, but I spent hours trying to beat it and I had an unopened copy of BOTW for like 6 months by that point.
@VoidofLight I used a drive too. The Wii U discs are 25GB so storing the extra graphics packs on the flash drive was all but mandatory. It’s very possible though and revisiting it will be a pleasure like no other. The game can probably be compressed a bit more due to, I assume at least, improved data compression rates over the last five years. So we’re looking at maybe 18-19GB, because believe me that world is bloody big.
Xenoblade X’s storyline was never the best of the Xeno games, but all said and done it has some really fun gameplay. The feeling when getting into a Skell for the first time is legitimately astounding.

@Slowdive problaby yes, well we have to wait until E3 2021, for Nintendo E3 Direct Presentation to them to anounce the rumored and higly antecipated 2D Metroid game that continues the Metroid Fusion history and the medieval/fantasy game of Monolith Soft they are working since 2017.
King Zell/C.Tsubasa hinted at Halo on Switch in 2019.
2. GoldenEye
Recently the status of the trademark has been changed (March 16). This is for (entertainment) software. (source)
3. Xbox Game Pass or Rare Replay
Both could be in the realm of possibilities if something is happening between the two companies.
Halo (Master Chief Collection?) would be interesting, but I wonder if Microsoft would see it as taking away from Game Pass? There primary goal right now is increasing Game Pass subs, it will be available via a browser soon, so doss that seem more likely? I wonder if the current Switch could support it or if it would be exclusively available on the Switch Pro?
I can’t see Rare Replay coming as too many of the games are fidgety requiring Xbox backwards compatibility, installs etc rather than them being played straight off the disk.
Game Pass on Switch would make sense, Ninty have opened up the door to cloud gaming already and it would suit both of them. However there’s not enough on GP to make me get it apart from maybe playing the post Rare leaving Ninty Games like Perfect Dark Zero, Banjo Kazooie Nuts & Bolts and Killer Instinct out of curiosity assuming they are all still there.
@jump when it's been discussed by Nate the Hate etc they have speculated that Nintendo would only let Microsoft put 1st party Game Pass games on the service on the Switch, which makes sense from their perspective. I wonder if that would change the price?
I think XCX, WWHD and TPHD are the last Wii U games that are a case of when rather than if regarding Switch version though with Nintendo delving into the "why is this on 3DS rather than Switch" era of 3DS with Miitopia I think there's an increased chance of Yoshi's Woolly World (Wii U graphics with all the 3DS content) as that was the first game that came under fire for being released for 3DS instead of Switch.
So ranking chance of Wii U ports I'd say:
5/5
Wind Waker HD (Zelda 35th anniversary)
Twilight Princes HD (Zelda 35th anniversary)
Xenoblade Chronicles X (the whole franchise except this game is on the Switch)
4/5
Yoshi's Woolly World (salvaging both the Wii U and the "why is this on 3DS rather than Switch" era of 3DS)
3/5
NES Remix Pack (perhaps it appears when all the games included are on NSO)
Fatal Frame Maiden of Black Water (franchise anniversary release perhaps?)
Kirby and the Rainbow Curse (there hasn't been much Kirby on the Switch compared to 3DS)
Splatoon 1 missing content (Splatoon 3 seems to be bringing back the Splatoon 1 special weapons so maybe other Splatoon 1 content is returning)
2/5
Nintendo Land (sequel feels more likely)
Wii Sports Club (Nintendo decided to release Mario Golf on the Switch so now 2 of the 5 sports are represented by Mario Sports and 1 of the other 3 is in Clubhouse Games)
Sonic Lost World (there's already a PC port but with the Sonic Colours rumour perhaps Lost World comes to Switch, don't think it's likely though)
1/5
Paper Mario Color Splash (Origami King came out last year so I think Nintendo's probably going to leave it behind)
Star Fox Zero + Guard (I think Starlink probably put the franchise back on hiatus)
Wii Fit U (Ring Fit Adventure feels like the true successor to Wii Fit)
@MarioBrickLayer I don't think Microsoft specifically minds regarding Halo otherwise Halo Infinite's multiplayer wouldn't be free to play. On Xbox the situation for multiplayer is:
Free to play games require no subscription
Paid games require Xbox Live Gold or Game Pass Ultimate (which contains Gold)
So you could see Halo Infinite's multiplayer being free to play as taking away from Game Pass. I'd guess the primary goal with Halo is about reclaiming its status back, it used to be one of the biggest franchises back in the mid to late 2000s but had fallen quite a lot in the 2010s particularly because of the state of MCC (launch to September 2018) and Halo 5.
But I do think Game Pass is the most likely outcome for the Switch tease as all the teases confirmed so far have been Game Pass related.
@VoidofLight@TheJGG
It's worth noting that the data packs were not additional content that couldn't fit on the disc. They were for improving load times because the Wii U's optical drive, being an optical drive, was slow
For context (assuming the Wii U's drive was ~6-8x) we're talking ~30MB/s with the Wii U's optical drive vs ~100MB/s for a typical portable HDD. I can't find any hard numbers on the Switch's internal storage or cartridges but based on load time benchmarks cartridges are similar to high performance microSD cards (~100MB/s) and the Switch's internal storage is a tad faster than that.
tl;dr: Switch cartridges are faster than Wii U optical discs and can be bigger
@skywake There is of course the small chance that data compression on the Switch is so good that the game can fit on a 16GB card. If it does it’ll make things a lot easier logistically, in that less data is loaded from the cartridge.
I do wonder why the Final Fantasy X/X2 collection was put in one cartridge in Japan and everywhere else you get a cartridge and a 13GB download code. That was poor.
