@HobbitGamer
Next general Direct is probably in June / July, if Nintendo goes back to the old formula. But we could see an Indie World in March, I think.

Do you guys think that partner showcases will keep being a thing, or are they now gone?

People keep saying Splatoon 3 makes no sense since there’s already splatoon 2 on Switch, and I agree with that. It wouldn’t make sense because they could just continue to support 2. So there’s only one other logical explanation... it will be on Switch Pro.

Whats killing me about Skyward Sword HD is they have the chance to address the biggest issues in the game and bring it up to par with other Zelda's and they... Aren't. Like, WW HD and TP HD both significantly addressed the game's shortcomings, and can be considered the definitive versions of the games from now on. And MM 3D was at least on the right track even if not all the changes landed right.

But this is looking to be the exact same game with no QoL outside of controls. Which just saddens me. All they'd have to do is

  • Make tutorial elements skippable and streamline the opening section in general
  • Reduce unnecessary Fi dialogue and reduce dead time (starting and ending conversations with her)
  • Add additional optional objectives in the Sky to encourage exploration.

Even just the first two wouldn't be thaaat much work and be significant improvements.

June is the next direct, as E3 is returning. (Unless there’s a Zelda Direct, which there probably will be, then that could be whenever)

The game is still a long ways off. They could still announce all the changes made before releasing the game.

@BabyYoda71 I thought the only way we would get a splatoon 3 was it was going to have to be on a switch pro. Buut here I'm wrong.

Nintendo are like woman, You love them for whats on the inside, not the outside…you know what I mean! Luzlane best girl!

Current obsession: Persona 4 golden!

@dionysos283 They spent the entire time talking about controls and literally nothing else. My hopes aren't high.

I also don't have high hopes. But I'm sure they will talk about SS HD again before it releases (maybe in the June Direct?) and it's possible that they want to keep some new stuff to announce there to create additional hype. It's not unreasonable to assume at least.

@Snatcher Yeah, but it’s coming in 2022. That’s a lot of time to reveal a Switch Pro

We don't know for sure there are no improvements yet. They might announce some more closer to the time.

It's dangerous to go alone! Stay at home.

I think it's a safe bet there will be a Direct around E3...what do you think we'll see before then?

I'm still expecting a Zelda presentation at some point (before or after E3).

@MarioBrickLayer Probably but it is interesting that Reggie has came out and said E3 2021 sounds rubbish so if the major companies feel the same and don't back it then it could be the case it wont return until Coivd is over.

Does it make much difference to Nintendo? The align their presentation dates to E3, but they haven't been on stage for years, have they?

jump

@MarioBrickLayer That's the thing Ninty didn't bother with a June Direct last year when there was no E3 so if there's no E3 this year they may not bother again and hold off til July when most of the announced games are released plus it avoids competing with the other companies for attention if they do June Direct style presentations. It's all uncharted waters now so who knows.

@MarioBrickLayer I think we'll see a Pokemon Direct next week and in June, Indie World in March and a Mario Golf Direct in May. Given the 3rd party announcements in the February Direct weren't particularly general Direct tier announcements, maybe Partner Showcases return and have a more varied mixture from small to big announcements.

Nocturne's absence especially was really odd so I think either it's no longer a Spring title or Partner Showcases return and it appears in one of those.

I agree with you. Makes perfect sense to me.
But we'll have to wait and see, if it also makes sense to Nintendo.

There needs to be a Hyrule Warriors announcement before the end of May too to show off the DLC.
