@Snatcher Yeah but people should also have had expectations in check, but they never do with Nintendo Directs. Sometimes it's warranted like when they had an E3 Direct that was about 30 minutes nothing but going over every single change in Smash Bros Ultimate. Again this is the first half of the year, Nintendo doesn't usually put their biggest games out right now, and they are still getting back on track with development after a difficult 2020. Of course I realise most people don't understand things like this but I feel everyone just assumed Nintendo was going to have an out blowout when in reality that was never going to happen.

I find all the complaining a little amusing as I thought the Direct was actually way better than a majority of the predictions I'd been reading before it.
My opinions on the direct are that I didn't think it was bad, but sort of underwhelming. Never was a mario sports guy so I'm indifferent to golf. Happy Pyra and Mythra is in, skyward sword hd will be an on sale game for me, project triangle strategy actually looks pretty good, and lots of interesting jrpgs. I understand why a lot of people don't like it, but we've definitely had worse. Splatoon 3 looks awesome, can't wait to play 2 and 3 simultaneously for little reason at all, and I will defend it's announcement to the grave. Maybe if they had one more announcement it would have been solid, but I didn't think it was bad, it's perfectly reasonable to not like it though.
I thought it was an awesome Direct. They definitely didn't stick to "first half of 2021" though lol
Skyward Sword getting confirmed is of course awesome. No actual mention of the Zelda anniversary, though, so my hopeful side is still holding out for a port collection.
The FF Tactics game looks freaking awesome. I need to get the demo first thing tomorrow. Mario Golf will be a definite purchase. I'll finally try Fall Guys. Legend of Mana remake is a definite purchase.
Very happy all things considered. Pretty shocked they announced Splatoon 3 so early.
Has anyone heard any rumors of when the next Direct will be? lol What I liked most from this Direct was content from the game I wanted to hear about the least going into the Direct. I'm glad that another Nintendo representative is joining Smash, and it's two more ladies from 2017. Smash content, in spite of having Smash fatigue, was the best part of today's Direct for me. Looking forward to playing as the pair next month.
The new Mario Golf does interest me a little, as I would like to enjoy more motion control games on Switch, but the course designs they showed off today were too basic. I skipped Mario Tennis Aces because I felt its court designs were too basic. If they show more visually creative course designs going forward, I'll want to play this game. Everything else beyond the environment design looks fun.
I wasn't too happy that Skyward Sword HD was announced initially, because I do really want a Zelda collection similar to last year's Super Mario 3D All-Stars, but as I said I would like to add more motion control game experiences into my Switch library. In that sense, Skyward Sword seems like it would be perfect. I barely played the game on Wii, so it would be a mostly new experience. If I can build a tolerance to Fi explaining this time around, I might get really into Skyward Sword HD.
Splatoon 3 gave me second hand chills. Even if I'm not too into the Splatoon series personally, I know that that was a big announcement to close the Direct. If they continue to improve upon the offline experience, I'll definitely be getting this game. I really wish I could say that this is a sign that 2022 will be as huge as 2017 for the Switch.

@GameOtaku I still doubt anything mainline Persona related is coming out before Shin Megami Tensei III and SMT V
And even so I think it's more likely they'll bring the PS2 Persona games to Switch before P5 or P5R, especially given they're placing a strong empahasis on porting the PS2 era MegaTens like Nocturne and Persona 4 Golden
Even so that's still a giant IF considering Atlus' output on PC has been way larger than other consoles as of recently so if anything Persona on Steam is probably more likely at this point
I think with not so many Switch games i can buy during first semester of 2021, it gives me opportunity to build my old games library with the games i have never played before.
I have a plan to build Arcade at Home with Konami's Rhythm games on PS2 and PS1 (Dance Dance Revolution, Para Para Paradise, Beatmania IIDX, Drummania, Pop'n Music, Keyboardmania) + their controller to play.
It will give me a joy to play Arcade games at home during pandemic.
Next direct will be at E3, either Bayonetta 3 or BOTW 2 will be there, as both have been promised to have major updates this year. Done, closed the door on all my predictions, adios.
I'd just like to just go into on why this Direct worked so well for me.
-Mario Golf, thing I've really liked in the past
-Splatoon, love the first 2 games
-No More Heroes, love the first 2 games, slightly more cautious after Travis Strikes Again admittedly
-Triangle Strategy, love Final Fantasy Tactics, it looks incredible
-Apex Legends, still hopeful I love with one of these f2p games one of these days, if I don't...lol its free whatever
-Outer Wilds, heard its one of the best games in recent years, I can buy into that hype
-Battle for Neigborhood, apparently complete edition is just 40 bucks and the trailer implies it isn't microtranaction bs? Also I've always really wanted to play one of these
-more AoC: My life for the next year is just this game
-Ninja Gaiden collection: Loved the first game on the original Xbox, would love to try out the updated version of it and 2
-I'm actually really excited for that Ghosts and Goblins game too
-Famicom Detective Club is potentially right up my alley, and the fact that its this obscure bit of forgotten Japan only Nintendo gaming makes this super interesting to me
-Ask me again about Pyra whenever I get to playing more of Xenoblade 2
-That weird FPS deck building game looks cool and weird and potentially awesome?
And the rest are some combination of "happy for fans" or "I'm not sure either way yet" or "I'm not buying Skyward Sword again for more than it cost but it is a great game but plz stop giving Nintendo money for a game that should obviously not cost as much as it does".
