I still just think it's not really that likely that we'll get a collection of Zelda games bundled together. It's more likely we'll get merch announcements and probably either a new 2D Zelda announcement, or a remake announcement, if we get a direct at all.

I don't think there'd be a Zelda Direct in the first place if there isn't multiple announcements. Mario Direct had:

  • SMB Game & Watch
  • 3D World
  • SMB35
  • MK Live
  • Celebration events in existing games and merch
  • All Stars (SNES) for NSO
  • 3D All Stars

If the only Zelda stuff was celebration events, merch and 1 game that wouldn't make a Zelda Direct.

I don't think it's unrealistic to expect a Zelda Game & Watch + a Zelda "all stars" collection + a BOTW2 announcement + merch etc + maybe another port?

He's saying this very matter-of-factly. Is this him reporting some insider information or just wishful thinking?

Frankly it is about time we saw some more from BotW2.

Well you're not wrong

@MarioBrickLayer Honestly, I feel like a "Zelda all stars" is probably unrealistic, since these games are more complex than just being a Mario game. Nintendo probably rather remake them, than sell us old games in a collection. BOTW2 is also something that I don't think is likely. Especially since we just got Age of Calamity a few months ago, and the video made it seem like we still have a while to wait for anything else related to BOTW2.

More complex than just being a mario game? What does that even mean?? And, theve already made a Zelda collection once before. And touched up WW and TP before.

What world are y'all from?

@Dezzy I still think BotW2 won't be mentioned for at least another year, get settled for the long haul.

...of course, my two most anticipated Switch titles post-2017 have been Bayo 3 and Prime 4 so I may be biased to not expect news lol.

@HobbitGamer to be fair, the last time they did a zelda collection was on gamecube nearly 20 years ago. Maybe it'll happen on the exact 20 year anniversary of that collection? Hard to say since this is the 35th anniversary. I have a feeling it's now or never.

@HobbitGamer Zelda games are story-based games, and exactly what NintendoByNature said, with how the original collection was back 20 years ago. Not to mention how they wouldn't really have many games to pick from, since I don't know how many people would be willing to pay for a collection with Twilight Princess, Wind Waker, OOT, or Majora's mask, especially when those four got remade. They also couldn't include any of the DS Zelda's, as those require a touch screen/two screens to work. So as for 3D Zeldas, they could probably put Skyward Sword, except they'd have to remake that in it's entirety, due to the controls itself, so why not just sell it alone?

The most I expect we will get is a 35th anniversary pin set. Exclusive merch like mugs and plushies and my Nintendo wallpapers and 3ds themes 😉
Edit and Zelda amiibo restock

We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.

To be honest, Nintendo gave Fire Emblem a bigger anniversary celebration than I was expecting. I know it's just a video of interviews but I just assumed Nintendo would not even acknowledge the anniversary. So anything is possible, and if COVID has really screwed over development of new games, then pumping out one or two anniversary editions may be a quick, easy and profitable way of doing things this year. It's obviously going to be a while before anything returns to normal.

@FragRed I mean, they have nothing to make a "Zelda Anniversary Edition" with. Unless they're going to take the Wii U ports, and bundle them together or something.

Honestly we are all fanboys here, so it doesn't matter if we think portings of WW hd and TP hd are somewhat lame (of course it would be nice, but come on..)
Nintendo is rightfully treating the WiiU like nobody bought it, so the easiest thing to expect are shameless ports.

VoidofLight

@teo_o I mean, I could see them porting those games, but separately. I just can't really see them porting them in a bundle, and selling that. Even then, for the people who already own those two remakes, they pretty much have nothing to look forwards to this year, in terms of Zelda releases.

Lol my second most anticipated Switch game (after BotW2) is genuinely Metroid Prime Trilogy HD.

I never got round to playing Prime 2 or 3, and haven't played Prime for like a decade, so having 3 games that were all critically acclaimed in HD will be awesome.

I really hope they make use of the Prime 4 delay to make sure the Trilogy is really high quality. Like redo all of the textures in higher resolution maybe. Preferably have all 3 games being regular controller-oriented too. I know 3 had a lot of motion controlled stuff going on.

I'm not expecting BOTW2 before the end of the year, but IF there is a Zelda anniversary announcement next week it has to include something BOTW2 related, even if it's just a short trailer without a firm date.

Twilight Princess and Windwaker were already ported to the WiiU, so if they were part of the collection, I imagine they would be less effort than some other games? Skyward Sword would need quite a bit of effort for example, wouldn't it?

I think what they'll do is release something that makes more money than it costs to produce. You can take that to the bank.

@VoidofLight Yeah there’ll be something this year Zelda related but I also agree with your post that they won’t port Wind Waker & Twilight Princess. There’s too much easy money just doing them separate. Sell Wind Waker this one year and Twilight Princess the next. I’m just not too sure which games Nintendo would bundle. The 2 obvious games are Ocarina of Time and Majorca’s Mask as long as no one expects the 3DS versions to be used.
