Topic: Next Nintendo Direct?

Maybe, but my current guess is that Switch Pro is a christmas 2021 release, and is launching alongside the Breath of the Wild sequel, which will show off the various performance upgrades it has.

Because of how Bowser's Fury was handled, I'm pretty sure next Direct will be a Partner Showcase either tomorrow or next week. As for the decision for Capcom to do their own thing for MH Rise instead of being part of the Partner Showcase, I think it's because Partner Showcases are still very divisive so the game would get more hype outside a Partner Showcase.

Until the next general Direct happens, Partner Showcases will continue to be divisive.

I honestly just don't think we're getting a direct this month. Or at least a first party one. It's disappointing, but I feel as if First Party Nintendo directs are probably done for a while. I do, however, think that we might get a Pokemon direct next month, as Gamefreak has a history of doing directs in February on Pokemon Day. Not to mention, they had multiple directs last year, when Nintendo themselves stopped doing normal directs.

So... any news I missed?

They will probably announce a direct mini for today. Seems the probable course of action.

Today's Nintendo news is New Pokemon Snap releasing on April 30th and it's a full retail release.

This aged well.

I'm still saying nothing til a partner showcase in March. We now have their schedule presumably confirmed through April at this point.

I agree, that now it's likely we won't hear anything first party related until April. But imo a partner showcase is always possible.

I'm betting on nothing from Nintendo proper outside of eShop only titles all year.

@link3710 That's interesting. I'm the exact opposite and I would have thought Nintendo would go strong this year with software. Games beats next gen specs

• January - Shadow drop eshop title or nothing
• February - 3D World, Bravely Default II (outside Japan)
• March - Zelda collection (OoT, MM, Skyward Sword), Zelda 35 (SMB 35 replacement)
• April - New Pokemon Snap
• May - Fire Emblem Remake (Genealogy of the Holy War or Binding Blade)
• June - Wind Waker HD
• July - Detective Pikachu, SMTV (I'm guessing SMTV is Nintendo published because of worldwide simultaneous release, Atlus doesn't do worldwide simultaneous releases)
• August - Metroid Prime Trilogy
• September - Twilight Princess HD
• October - Bayonetta 3
• November - Pokemon Let's Go Johto
• December - XCX Definitive Edition

With BotW 2 delayed to March 2022.

As for DLC/updates, I think we'll get:

• Animal Crossing New Horizons updates throughout the year
• Final 3 Smash fighters launch in March, June and September
• Age of Calamity free update in February, maybe Season Pass purchasable around then too though I'd imagine they'd have announced a pass in advance if there was one)
• Ring Fit Adventure free update or DLC in March
• Captain Toad free update in February that adds the 3D World levels that were replaced by Odyssey levels
• At some point in 2021 3D All Stars getting Galaxy 2 as DLC

Yah, we're not getting a direct anytime soon. They'll sit this quarter out and let people play the stuff that's already announced with the odd, smaller surprise.

@Grumblevolcano Huh, I had XCX in December but removed it last minute. I am surprised you don't have a game down from Camelot though, this is the longest gap they've had in releases bar none.

I predict that we'll see some announcements on some (hopefully all) of the key anniversary dates this year, they are:-

1. 21st February - Zelda
2. 4th March - Switch Launch
3. 9th July - Donkey Kong
4. 6th/15th August - Metroid

Everyone seems to be forgetting HAL Laboratory recently just confirmed new projects for this year, and a new mainline Kirby is likely to be one of them

I'd love alot of these lineups people are predicting . Too bad I just gave up on MPT coming to switch and grabbed it on wii u last week 🤣
