I dunno about other countries, but here in Italy the situation with COVID is TBD 2nd quarter 2021.
Strange for Nintendo to go ahead and present their park, even if it's scheduled to open in February.
But I guess by now Japan has a strict protocol in place for the Olympics.
I don’t think Nintendo is promoting the theme park necessarily expecting people to start flying in for the opening. But they do see there’s light at the end of the tunnel and now 2 vaccines is being rolled out at least here in the U.K. (I assume the Oxford one was given the go ahead), it does make sense to grab people’s interest now. People are going to begin booking holidays hoping they can get away before end of 2021 so hype up your new theme park.

@Magician Nintendo also need to hype early Third Party comig in 2021 like Bravely Default 2, Monster Hunter Rise, and we need to see how big the Bowser Fury content on Super Mario 3D World +Bowser Fury could be, it could be a huge content or a small content, and oh yes a mid/late general Nintendo Direct would be perfect for Nintendo to highlight Super Mario 3D World+Bowser Fury, early 2021 third party games and the 35th anniversary of Legend of Zelda and Metroid franchise.
They could easily just drop a trailer for 3D World and cover the third party stuff in Partner Showcases. It's been a while since we've had a proper general Direct so I'll be keeping my expectations for one low until they actually announce one.
@BenAV Yeah, I have a bad feeling about that. Something like this would seem realistic but disappointing too:
3D World trailer showcasing Bowser's Fury in early/mid January
Partner Showcase and Monster Hunter Direct in late January (MH Rise demo is a shadow drop)
Zelda 35th Direct early/mid February
Partner Showcase late February
Partner Showcases for 3rd party games each month and social media announcements about 2 months before launch for 1st party games (see Paper Mario, Pikmin 3, Age of Calamity) for the rest of the year
Indie World in March, August and December
Remaining 3 Smash fighters announced like Byleth was in January 2020
Really hope instead there's a big general Direct in January.
Mario's 35th anniversary Direct was announced in September and probably planned for E3. What makes you all so sure we'll hear something for Zelda's 35th anniversary in the first half of the year?
Yeah, I'm not sure a big general direct is likely for quite awhile .... I'd be very happy to see one, of course! But just a trailer with some info on Bowser's Fury is enough for that, so unless they combine that with MH or Zelda, depending what else they want to cover, hopefully ....
