I totally expect more Origami King/3D All-Stars/Age of Calamity style shadow drop announcements, at least until maybe Summer of '21. Only real Directs would the the 3rd party Partner Showcases and Indies.
As for the indie show, I'm hoping for an update on Cyber Shadow. And there's always that surprise indie such as Short Hike that come out of these.
@Dezzy Japan's samurai history is pretty crazy and surprisingly lasted a long time. In fact it's weird to think the only reason it ended was because the west "visited" and it kinda woke Japan up. So it's no surprise that Christmas was driven out the country.

Well they'd had plenty of exchange with western europe going back centuries. That didn't seem to bother them too much, except for worrying about christian missionaries trying to convert everyone. It wasn't really until America showed up during the industrial revolution with massive metal ships that they started to get worried and abandon the samurai (as depicted in a fairly good, although slightly cheesy, Tom Cruise film)
I found what @Grumblevolcano pointed out about the timing of the Sephiroth presentation very interesting. Is there a chance that Nintendo is going all out this week to end the year with a bang but before the holidays? That would mean Indie World Tuesday, Direct announcement Wednesday, and Direct followed by Sephiroth on Thursday. I know if anything they’d wanna go all out at the end of the fiscal year instead but you never can tell with Nintendo.
@Dezzy It's a reasonable prediction that because there's Indie World this week, there's no general Direct until January. Thursday was the last big chance of the year of a general Direct and there was boosted chances because of the Sephiroth stream being so late but releasing a general Direct so close to Indie World would be burning bridges with indie developers.
i'm actually interested in some possible indie shadow drops today, that would be nice. as for the rest, a HUGE thing i'm missing as a fan and a consumer is a big date on the calendar to get excited for, especially after 2020. you know like, an actual, new, not converted from wiiu, first party bomb.
Or a foldable switch capable of 4k resolution and raytracing.
You know, realistic stuff.
Pretty below average showcase for me. Loved we got a release date for cyber shadow though. Pretty much the only thing that caught my eye. Feels like it's been forever since we found out about that game.
Even though I'm not into super meat boy forever I'm glad it's coming out soon for the fans of it. Same with among us fans.
I missed the Direct as i fell asleep before the presentation (it was supposed for bedtime) but after i watched the Direct by quickly tapping, i found nothing interesting at all. 😒
Oh, well...
I will continue my Sly 2 progress from Sly Cooper Collection PS3 . 🙄
@EngineerMario
Not interested at all with everything from Among Us.
Graphics meh, gameplay meh.
I don't follow the mainstream hype like that.
I have my own interest that mostly very opposite with mainstream audiences.
@Anti-Matter I wouldn’t call indie games mainstream but since you have no interest in digital games why did you watch The Direct since most indie games aren’t gonna be released physically?
@jump
We will never knew if some indie games will get physical release someday. (Like we never expect Untitled Goose Games get physical release at last)
I watched the direct late as i fell asleep but after i watched, only 1 game that caught my attention (Alba: a Wildlife Adventure).
I'm not into indie games too badly, but every now and then there'll come a game that is able to mimic AAA-quality studio games so well that I can't afford to miss it. Games like Undertale, No Man's Sky on the PS4, and Stardew Valley are examples. I'll keep my eye out for indies every once in a while, and while I prefer a first-party or second-party title to an indie game, sometimes there'll be a grey area. Hence; the Indie Direct was a good showcase, not because I'd play the games, but to observe the Nintendo eShop lineup getting better and better.
