I don't think they really feel like dealing with the inevitable controversy over Vivian if they were to remake TTYD.
lol no
Like I know what you're talking about, but any sort of controversy would very obviously not happen, unless you judge "I found someone mad, he has 3 likes on Twitter" as somehow a controversy. Which distressingly is a number of so called "controversies" I've heard shared on major gaming sites.
I just recently finished TTYD for the first time and really liked it, but don’t quite get the cult status it’s been given. Idk if it’s a matter of nostalgia and playing it around the time it came out, or if I’m just a loser with no taste since I also hold Mario Sunshine as my favorite game of all time, lol.
Also, if anything would cause controversy, it’s Flurrie.

I think because it took Mario as far as it ever has in terms of storytelling and writing (especially writing, which is better than most JRPGs quite frankly :V), and improved upon a lot of the first game ("like the first game but even better and more creative" defines beloved game sequels, especially on the Nintendo side of things). Also because Paper Mario fell off a cliff for no good reason and Mario and Luigi died slowly, so its easy to look back even more fondly on TTYD.
Also people adore the soundtrack. Like back in the day, I saw sites basically die for a bit because people downloaded the music from this game too much and try to join forums just to get access to TTYD music downloads. Not even kidding.
@Noble_Haltmann I understand where you are coming from with TTYD. I actually feel the same way about Super Mario 64. Playing through that game again frustrated me. It has to be the nostalgia factor. I honestly wished I would have not played through 64, again.
@kmslider5552000 yeah, the writing was very bold and paid off tremendously! I was really surprised to realize Mario games had been so self aware since 2004! Loved the music as well, and I can imagine it slaps way harder with the nostalgia factor. It’s easily as good as the Sunshine soundtrack and that music fills me with a joy like no other. So crazy that people were downloading it so much though!
But yeah, like I said I still loved the game, just wasn’t the masterpiece it’s fan base makes it out to be in my opinion. While I trust that sticker star and color splash aren’t worth playing, I am interested in The Origami King and think I might pick it up sometime soon. Maybe like how I found TTYD not as good as some say, I’ll find TOK To be not as bad lol.
So my best friend’s uncle’s cousin’s nephew works at Nintendo and told me that they will release a “Nintendo Direct Mini Partner Showcase October 2020 Deluxe Edition” on Sunday.
Heigh Ho Heigh Ho. It’s off to work (from home) I go.
So this week's big info was just the Treehouse Live showcasing Pikmin 3 Deluxe and Age of Calamity. To keep weekly info going I'm going to guess for the rest of October we get:
Week beginning October 12th - Partner Showcase
Week beginning October 19th - Pokemon Presents (reminder about Crown Tundra and perhaps some news on spinoffs like Pokemon Unite and New Pokemon Snap)
Week beginning October 26th - More Age of Calamity info

It's a pretty packed year, considering how much of that is based on confirmed releases or stuff delayed out of 2020. As for the theorized stuff?
Legend of Zelda Collection: Poorly emulated versions of Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Wind Waker and Twilight Princess. Contains none of the upgrades of the 3D/HD version from last gen.
Main Series Kirby: A more single player focused experience, still 2D.
2D Metroid Game: A sequel to Fusion... finally. By MercurySteam, brings back most of the changes from Samus Returns while innovating further. Counterattack likely nerfed.
Mario Golf: What more to say?
Skyward Sword Remaster: A proper port of Skyward Sword, with tons of QoL changes. Done by Grezzo
Toy Product: Noooo idea whatsoever what this'll be
Major New Title: Could be Odyssey 2, BotW2, a major Splatoon spinoff, who knows?
Pokemon Main Series: Nuff said
@link3710 Not a bad year if you're correct! I doubt a Zelda collection would come this early. They most likely would've started it after the success of 3D All-Stars, and it hasn't even been a month yet. Even if they have started it before 3D All-Stars, it's unlikely they would release it just a couple of months afterward.
@App Keep in mind, the Zelda 35th anniversary is at the very end of February. 3D Collection took 6 months to develop from scratch (it started in March of this year), whereas this theoretical Zelda collection would just reused the existing emulators, possibly implementing a few new features. Mostly it's just going to be them tossing in the existing ROMs into the existing emulators and upscaling textures via AI. So they'd have just as much development time, with far less work to do.
@link3710 I really doubt Nintendo would pass on the opportunity to sell individual Wii U ports for $60. That's why I think the Zelda collection would be OoT (N64 version), MM (N64 version) and Skyward Sword (a Galaxy in 3D All Stars style release) with WWHD and TPHD coming later in the year as separate $60 Wii U ports.
@App I'm predicting what I expect, not what I want lol. They're totally going to half-ass it.
@Grumblevolcano That's also quite likely, I literally flipped a coin to see if Skyward Sword or TP/WW would be the ones ported. There's slight chatter of a standalone Skyward Sword port existing, which is the only reason I consider them about even.
EDIT: There's also a small chance we'll get a 60$ dual pack OOT/MM pack from Grezzo, a NERD hybrid emulated Skyward Sword with serious QoL changes, and a Tantalus developed WW/TP as a second 60$ pack, but that feels too good for Nintendo to do.
@link3710 I really hope you're wrong on the Zelda collection as I would prefer just for the re-release of WW and TP HD versions (I would pay 60 for each) as I never played those versions
