That would be ridiculous if it were. We don't have any releases for the year after AC. We don't need Indie World. We need the biggest first party Direct that's ever been Directified.
@dezzy I definitly agree and I hope that sabi was wrong but maybe nintendo has some issues due the coronavirus and that's why they are trying to fill the gap with indies. But then again sony announced a first party game for june so I'm not sure. But in any case if it's an indie world i hope nintendo is ready for dislike bombing.
@grumblevolcano nope but i'm 90% sure that partnership is not game related. You can call me out if I'm wrong but I believe that It's just going to be licensed lego.
I genuinely had a dream about the Nintendo Direct the other night. That's how much of a supernerd I am. I dreamt that Breath of the Wild 2 was fully revealed and the way they'd built upon the original game world was by extending it out into the ocean, so it was a kind of Wind Waker-style game where you had half of a land-based open world, and then the sea full of small islands you had to sail to.
I think the chances of that being accurate are pretty slim though
@Dezzy February 2019 remains one of my favorite directs, and MM2 and Astral Chain are two of my most played games. Definitely would like something like that. Kind of expecting Bayo 3 and something new at the least.
@NintendoByNature I'd prefer something closer to the January 2018 Direct Mini. An equivalent to the February 2019 Direct this year (taking into account the Direct being a month later) would be something like August - December is insanely packed but before then all you have for upcoming is Animal Crossing next week, Xenoblade in late July and a few 3rd party titles in between.
@Grumblevolcano I mean, between AC, PMD, TMS#FE (and possibly TW101 depending on how you count it, likely XC:DE too), we almost certainly have surpassed the first half of 2019 in terms of Nintendo IP releases before the first direct even occurred. I still think April will be empty, but even a 2019 type direct could fill out May and June enough.
Also, it was June to December, cause we had two games in July too.
@Dezzy The February 2019 Direct was pretty much "here's all these fantastic games coming to Switch this year but you're going to have to wait at least June to play them". Until then you have Yoshi, Tetris 99, Boxboy + Boxgirl and a few 3rd party titles.
@link3710 February 2019 Direct with the big games being late June - November so I was moving everything by a month as the 2020 Direct would be a month later (March Direct with big games being late July - December).
@Grumblevolcano true, that was the downside of last year, if youd even call it that. Between June and November, people were up to their gills in games with no space in between, forcing alot of us to pick and choose what games to get, even if we would normally buy both day 1 had they been further apart.
@Grumblevolcano ah okay, that explains that. 2019 was pretty insane in general with at least one notable release every week between Super Mario Maker 2 and AC: Rogue Collection.
StoneWars seems to believe that the LEGO Super Mario sets are listed internally with the codename "LEAF", and that there are going to be 13 sets overall (based on serial numbers listing set #71360 through #71373)
@NintendoByNature It's a downside because the 2nd half of 2018 was also pretty limited with Nintendo focusing so much on Smash so you had almost a year with significant game droughts. Between Captain Toad/Octopath (July 13th 2018) and Mario Maker 2 (June 28th 2019) there wasn't much going on outside of Smash (Hyrule Warriors releasing in the 1st half of 2018 being so filled with content along with consistent XC2 DLC releases throughout the year pretty much saved the 2nd half of 2018 for me). Fortunately the lineup between Mario Maker 2 and Pokemon Sword/Shield was completely insane so the wait for a Direct this year has been less rough but I don't think my backlog will take me to Wonderful 101 Remastered (the next game I'm looking forward to).
It's weird that they would just kind of tease this and then say "stay tuned" without letting people know when or where to look for more information. Why does Nintendo always have to be so cryptic and keep everything so close to the chest?
@Cubs017 It draws eyes toward them. The Direct drought has caused more and more people to pay close attention to Nintendo news. Nintendo, like it or not, loves to keep fans waiting on the edge of their seat.
