Topic: Next Nintendo Direct?

The official Japanese Nintendo Twitter account just broke silence after a day of inactivity to reveal... two new games on sale for the eShop. City Skylines and VA-11 Hall-A, for those interested.

Not a Direct announcement, but 75% off Skylines is pretty tasty.

If it's on Thursday, they'll probably announce it tomorrow won't they? It's usually just 1 day before.

Apparently Nintendo playlists have been updating on Youtube.

How do you know it's happened if you haven't actually checked it? Are you just taking random people's word for it?

They have playlists for new releases, for instance, which obviously update all the time .... They upload videos officially all the time, too, which automatically updates lists for whatever?

@Dezzy Two of the playlists that updated were national video game day and a pokemon mystery dungeon rescue team dx.

@DannyBoi And that has something to do with a direct...why? We know what videos were uploaded to those, they were made public.

It's 1pm UK time and no Direct announcement so starting to look unlikely for this week.

@DannyBoi For America, the clocks went forward an hour last weekend meanwhile for countries like the UK it's later this month so America's announcements appear an hour earlier for a few weeks.

I don’t recall a direct being announced after Wednesday, so it appears tomorrow is the last call for a Direct before New Horizons. A general Direct next week is unlikely because of the release of New Horizons (just my opinion)

@Grumblevolcano If it doesn't happen this week, I'm absolutely convinced my April 1st direct theory is correct. They're gonna wait til AC is out for a week before telling us news about the future. Maaaybe it'll be the 2nd instead of the first, but definitely that week.

The fact that the LEGO Mario news was announced on their Twitter further contributes to this theory

@DannyBoi It seems to be the sort of news they would announce in the Direct. Directs are not just for the consumers, but also for the investors. However, the announcement was very vague, suggesting it could still happen.

@WaffleKnight They'd only announce it in the Direct if it had game connections so like if Super Mario Land 2 was the next Mario Maker 2 style (Mario Zone pretty much features Lego) or if there were Lego Mario games being announced like there are Lego games for Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Batman, etc.

@WaffleKnight Directs have never featured news that wasn't tied to a currently active system. The only toys that ever appear in them are Amiibo's, since they have in-game functionality.

Same goes for Mobile games, they are only mentioned if they have integration with an actual game. No news about those, toys, theme parks, or anything else non-Switch related would be in one.

Nintendo seem to be doing OK despite the silence, especially with announcements like this.
