So Silksong just got shown off in the Xbox presentation. Some excellent gameplay footage, stating that it will be playable on day 1 on Gamepass. Still no release date, though. So it now looks VERY likely that this game will show up in the next Direct, I would say 100%

@StarPoint I would argue the very fact it’s been shown in the Xbox conference means it won’t be shown in anything by Nintendo.

Looks like there’s no Goldeneye (or Banjo, but that’s much more of a rumor) at the Xbox show. Could a reveal by Nintendo be imminent?

@FragRed
I'm with StarPoint on this. Xbox didn't give us a release date. So maybe this honor was given to Nintendo to reveal.

@dionysos283 It’s probably still a hella way away, so the developers still don’t feel they can put down a release date for it. This is a game they are happy to just take their time developing. Wasn’t Shredder’s Revenge first revealed at a Nintendo Direct only for PlayStation to showcase the release date trailer? And now it’s looking like Persona is skipping the Switch to go straight to Xbox.

No Goldeneye, Silksong didn't get a release window and the Persona announcements are the new hope for a Direct soon.

Something is afoot here. Silksong was announced as a Nintendo console exclusive. Persona is no longer console-exclusive (surely Sony cannot be paying AtluSega to play "keep-away" from Nintendo?). NCL has not even announced a forthcoming Direct, which is unprecedented this late in the game, I believe. What this means, I don't know - but I am baffled.

@FragRed The release date trailer for Shredder's Revenge was at the Summer Games Fest stream.

@Grumblevolcano I've noted your pessimism about seeing a June Direct this year (not that I blame you). Are you thinking maybe we might see one now?

FragRed

@CANOEberry Yeah I think this is a case of both Microsoft and Sony spending huge sums to get games onto their systems to push hardware/subscription sales and Nintendo just cars about their first party, some random indie games and whatever odd Platinum Games exclusive they fund.

@CANOEberry More optimistic that some kind of Direct is happening, not necessarily a general Direct (those are all 3rd party titles after all).

Which option, then, @Grumblevolcano ....? & when? Mini-Direct? Partner showcase? Something else?

@Noble_Haltmann no, Banjo Kazooie belong to Rare a studio own by Microsoft, and beside Microsoft don't care about Banjo Kazooie, they about shooter games, @CanoEberry Hollow Knight Silksong was a timed exclusive on Switch just like Monster Hunter Rise, if we get another Persona game on Switch, it will be the dancing games.

@BruceCM I'm leaning towards Partner Showcase on Tuesday. While I do think Goldeneye is most likely to appear on the Switch via NSO Expansion Pack, a huge chunk of the most notable N64 games not on NSO yet are Rare games so there could be a headline for more Rare games coming to NSO (if Age of Calamity can appear in a Partner Showcase, so could DK64 and Diddy Kong Racing). Persona and Silksong could be other headlines.

I certainly hope they have some games for me to buy, as well, @Grumblevolcano ....

@FragRed Now that makes sense, and definitely sounds like them. Good reasoning there.

@GrumbleVolcano A Partner showcase is not a full Direct, not in terms of scope and length. That wouldn't look so good, I think - Sony was chastised for their E3 no-shows in this past...

So what presentations left during this week?

The lack of a Goldeneye announcement in the Xbox showcase today makes me think that it is more likely that there will be an announcement in the Nintendo Direct and that there will be no difference between the version released on the Xbox and the Switch.
