This year I will be skipping SGF for real due to having to work. Every year I say I'm going to skip it but end up watching it anyway. So it's nice to actually have an excuse to not watch it. It'll save me some time to just look at a highlight reel afterward.

Hear me out guys; maybe this was part of Nintendo's plan to throw us off the scent.
Seriously though I'm still sure one will happen relatively soon and I will laugh if it actually does end up happening on the 15th even though the leak obviously had nothing to do with it.
Yeah I'm leaning towards there being no general Direct until September too. We know the lineup up until Splatoon 3 so they can focus on advertising those games individually.
That being said we don't really know what's coming between Splatoon 3 and Pokemon. That's what we need details on, and revealing games for late September and October in a September Direct doesn't make sense obviously. So I think shadow drop announcements for Bayonetta 3 and 1, mayyyybeee 2 other titles (Sparks of Hope?) are in order.
I'll tell you what I really want, and that's a Splatoon 3 Direct. We've seen a decent amount of new stuff but admittedly, not a lot compared to what Splatoon 2 added to Splatoon 1 (e.g. Salmon Run, complete revamp of specials). I feel like they've still got a bunch of stuff up their sleeves (e.g. a new mode, full details of new weapons, sub-weapons and special moves, a slightly larger and more creative story mode perhaps with a main antagonist other than DJ Octavio, apartments, new Ranked Battles, split-screen).
Well, I'm sticking to my guns here. If there isn't a Nintendo Direct this week, then I will have given up all hope for one coming out this June. We would likely just get a Mario Kart shadow drop, Splatoon 3 direct, and maybe another Xenoblade trailer.
I still think it makes a lot of sense for Nintendo to do a general Direct this month, but hey, Nintendo is a company that doesn't really make a lot of sense.

I mean even if there is no Direct in June 2022, there is always another thing you can do like playing other games from different consoles or finishing the backlogs or finding never before played old games. Since I'm not waiting for bigger title like xenoblade or splatoon or botw games, I will not miss anything.
@Anti-Matter The thing is, I don't have much of a backlog at all right now. I don't desperately need some Nintendo news, but I just think it makes sense for Nintendo to do a Direct this month.

I think this is funny for me to see after I have Nintendo Switch for almost 5 years, I saw something different about my perception with Nintendo Switch.
Before that I was so hyped with Switch and half hearted with my PS4, but now the situation slowly changed during pandemic. I became more hyped with PS4 (of course by amount of kids games I can pick on PS4) but slowly have different idea with Nintendo Switch as I found more Code in Box treatments and some decisions from Nintendo recently that made me less impressed. Don't get me wrong, I still like my Switch but not as strong as 5 years ago during this year. Some disappointing decisions from Nintendo recently were like Mario Strikers (putting another soccer games), Pokemon BDSP big patches and updates, Switch Sports without Boxing, etc made me nervous to support Nintendo Switch like 5 years ago. At this point, I have separated the picking of 3rd party multi console games by picking the PS4 / PS5 version for 3rd party multi console games, my Switch will only get 1st party Nintendo games and Switch exclusives with a few 3rd party multi console games if I found the GB size of PlayStation version was too big for my PS4 storage (above 20 GB).
I'm still on board for a Direct unless the next MK8 DLC wave suddenly gets a standalone trailer in the next couple weeks. I really think that is the indicator of whether or not we're getting one, because it'd undoubtedly be a part of a Direct if one was in the works.
It's true we got a new XC3 trailer, but that just seemed to be a recap of the environments they've already revealed (so nothing really new), and while a handful of Switch bound games have been revealed at the other showcases, that was always going to be the case.
