@Kermit1 I don't think so. They usually will do it like around the 3rd week of June. And next week is packed with Xbox and Capcom.

So I don't think there will be a direct. Besides, I don't think Nintendo really needs a direct. They got a lot of stuff coming this year.
Maybe next Wednesday will be a direct but I don't think there will be.

@Kermit1 true. But as we keep going, it is getting increasingly unlikely there will be a direct.

I'm almost certain there's gonna be a direct. Only thing that would make me change my mind is if they say there won't be one or if they announce the mario kart dlc seperately

They sometimes announce directs only a couple days before they happen, and typically it would be next week or maybe even the week after when it happens. Just be patient, Nintendo will probably have something

I'm pretty sure we're gonna have a Direct next week. Just my feeling as of right now

Yeah, I still think we're going to get one this month. Pokemon & Splatoon are the only post summer games we have release dates for (yes, I know September is still technically summer).

We still need release dates for Bayonetta 3 & Mario + Rabbids, & I doubt those 4 games (including the two mentioned above) will be the only games in the last half of the year. Plus, we still need info on the next MK8D drop, which should be coming soon.

EDIT: Also, the first half of the year has been really packed (including 3rd party console exclusives).

Jan-June: Pokemon Arceus, Kirby, Triangle Strategy, Chocobo Racing, Switch Sports, Token Ranbu Warriors, Mario Strikers, Three Hopes (even Advance Wars was ready to go as well).

July-Dec (so far): Live-A-Live, XC3, Splatoon 3, Pokemon S/V, Bayonetta 3 (tentative), Mario + Rabbids (tentative).

Given how packed the first half of the year was, you can see the second half still has some spots that can be filled, even if only a few smaller games or 3rd party exclusives (and even if you want to include MonHun Sunbreak as a full game).

I'd say almost certainly not on us getting a direct. There's not enough release slots for anything big to be announced. I think we'll get Bayo 3 release date in the September direct for late October, Mario + Rabbids will be delayed to Q1 2023, Advance Wars will be rescheduled to release for December to replace it, and that should clean up the year. Possibly throw in a Kirby anniversary collection in early October as well. Plus, we have to have the booster pass drops (July and November probably?) Three Hopes DLC will be a thing as well. Then there's possibly Kirby DLC, definitely a XC3 season pass to announce in September, monthly updates for Mario strikers... And there's still the chance for eshop titles to drop randomly, or exclusives like Sports Story to come out.

We'll hit at least a biweekly releases in the holiday season as is. I doubt they'll bother announcing anything now.

EDIT: In response to the edit above... the sheer amount of DLC we can expect in the second half of the year means I wouldn't expect much announced before September, even if the full game list is slimmer.

Nintendo isn't going to spend an entire Direct talking about DLC for existing games, c'mon now...

Apparently the direct is probably going to be on the 15th at close to noon eastern time if a leaked reviewer email for Neon White is to be extrapolated from.

I keep reading that “Nintendo doesn’t need a Direct cause 2022 is packed”. Can’t say I agree. XC3 and Splatoon are nice for their respective fans, but Nintendo usually used E3 to give an idea of what’s next for Mario, Zelda, the console, the brand… beyond the year, too! We have no idea at this point. It feels quiet, we might have already entered the phase where they quietly shift projects to the next system. To reassure the fans they should definitely release a Direct soon.

@link3710 I disagree that there wouldn't be enough to cover. There's likely 3 Nintendo published games without precise release dates that is launching in 2022 (4 if they end up releasing something in August), some DLC to cover like wave 2 of the Booster Course Pass and 3rd party support is looking light after June.

So Nintendo could easily make a June Direct out of all the content but they don't have to and that's what the absence of E3 really means. 2019 also had a lot known before E3, with the sole exception of Cadence of Hyrule the entire Nintendo published lineup up to Astral Chain on August 30th had precise release dates and a few games afterwards like Link's Awakening also had it. But E3 meant something had to happen whether Direct, Treehouse Live or both.

No E3 means if Nintendo want to, they can just focus on the next few months (Mario Strikers, Three Hopes, Live a Live, Xenoblade 3, Splatoon 3) and then have a big general Direct in September.

Do you mind me asking where you got this info from? I've heard talk of the 15th floating around myself but I've never heard anything about a marketing email showing it or something like that.

As one of the Reddit comments brought out, this person is either going to be blacklisted from future games or is just making stuff up.

Not a super reliable leak, but hey, I'll take what I can get. Next Wednesday it is! Wooo!
