Hmm, I don't happen to know what caused those 2 to get cancelled, @link3710 .... But they did say why they were delaying Advance Wars & obviously don't want to give another date until they're sure about it, so I wouldn't assume it'll never come out yet at least
I've never played those games, so I'm definitely looking forward to getting them on Switch!
@BruceCM Both of them were cancelled due to delays pushing their release too far after the release of the next system. But uh... I don't think we're going to be in a place that they'll feel like they can release Advance Wars anytime in he next few years so... Yeah...
With no E3, I wonder if we're gonna pull a 2020 and not have a direct until September again?
Well, I certainly hope you're wrong about Advance Wars Reboot, @link3710 .... I also hope we'll still have a direct around E3 time but as long as the games get announced & everything somehow, that's the main thing

@link3710 I think they'll have a general Direct in May given that month has no games and to allow Mario Strikers to get some attention (normal E3 slot would've been after Mario Strikers launch).
@Fizza 2013 and Japan had one in 2015. My point though was that a general Direct is almost always in June solely because of E3's existence. With E3 gone Nintendo can pick a different time that suits them better.
@link3710 No, they went that long in 2020 because the pandemic ground their operations to a halt and they had little to show (Paper Mario being the only thing they had until September and even the Q4 lineup was just ports and spinoffs with no major holiday game of any kind). This year? Not so much. The year is totally loaded and they should have a lot to show. When is Splatoon 3 releasing and is there anything else we need to know about that game? Are we going to see our first look at BotW2 (yes, it's been delayed, but they might still start marketing it in a few months)? What about Bayonetta 3 and Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope? Are there any other games releasing in the second half of the year like Prime Trilogy, DK, Mario Odyssey 2? They're probably not just going to go silent for the next 4 months, they'll probably have a Summer Direct of some kind to take the place of E3, it's just that now instead of airing in mid-June it'll air whenever they feel like.
@link3710 The original Advance Wars was released on the 10th of September 2001 in America, then was delayed for obvious reasons in Europe and Japan but did come out eventually (only a few months later in Europe, but years later in Japan). So I think it's unlikely the remake will be cancelled; even if it takes years I'd expect it to release eventually, though it depends how long this conflict goes on for.
It would be interesting to know if Nintendo are working on a new Advanced Wars game, or if they were going to decide on if they should based on the sales of the re-boot camp.
Advance Wars, to me, is in this really weird state of limbo. In my eyes, its development should be almost complete, if it isn't already. It seems like Nintendo isn't going to do anything with it until those... current events wrap up, whenever that is. I would think Nintendo would just choose a month this year where they don't have a major first party title, and push it in there. If I had to guess, however, I'm doubtful this game is launching this year. It's a real shame, too. I wouldn't consider myself an Advance Wars fan, but it's always nice to see Nintendo's lesser known franchises get a chance to shine.
@CITRONtanker I think saying it'll move to 2023 is jumping the gun a bit. Yes, certain.... current events (lets leave it at that) are making things far more awkward than they would be otherwise. However, like you said, the game's probably done at this point so it would basically be a matter of playing their cards right on when to release it. I highly doubt they'd have a fully complete game and simply choose not release it the year they planned on doing so. I imagine the current events will be over fairly soon anyway (at least I hope) so I predict it coming out probably in late May/mid June if anytime. That's just my assumption at least. Also, please don't take this as me thinking about a game over a war: that's incredibly messed up and I'm just thinking about it semi-logically from a business perspective.

The problem with Advance Wars is that if Nintendo hopes it can do well, they’d ideally not want to release it close to another first party game. Before it got delayed the first time, I thought that it would come out before Kirby did, which would give its chance to be properly marketed. As it stands, it seems like a title Nintendo has in reserve, and whenever there’s a lull in their loaded lineup this year, they can release it.
May 10th is when Nintendo fiscal year earnings are reported so I think the replacement E3 Direct will be around then. Mobile is failing Nintendo as shown by gradual shutdown of their mobile games (Dr. Mario World in 2021, Dragalia Lost in 2022, Mario Kart Tour will probably be shut down shortly after the MK8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass is finished, etc.) so it may be that what Nintendo will want to show investors is that the upcoming Switch lineup is insanely strong even with the absence of BotW 2.

Nintendo has likely been planning a June E3 Direct for quite some time now, so they'll most likely still present the Direct in June even if E3 itself is canceled. I doubt they'll rush to get the Direct out a month earlier than usual, not do I think they'll delay it past June as they have no concrete release dates after Live A Live.

I'm going to go with "no". I can see them starting to hype the game in December but they won't want to draw attention (and possible sales) away from their 2022 line up. I think the 2-3 seconds we just got is all that we're getting until the very end of the year at the earliest.
What could be a possibility is a "Zelda 3D All Stars" announced to be released in time for Christmas (possibly time limited like the Mario collection). That or Wind Waker HD. There's a gap now for Nintendo to release something Zelda this year now but it's obviously dependent on whether or not they've got it already ported on Switch and ready to go.
Honestly, I think Super Mario Run will be the next one to go. Nintendo has done nothing with it, and I'm sure it hasn't performed nearly as well as they had hoped. I think the only one of these mobile games that is safe is Fire Emblem Heroes. If you told me a few years ago a mobile Fire Emblem would be Nintendo's highest earning mobile game, I would have laughed at you.
At this rate, Nintendo should just can this whole mobile... initiative, is what I'll call it. When they started it, there was a reason to do it. The Wii U was failing, and the 3DS was losing steam. I always saw mobile games as a safety net for Nintendo to fall back on. But now that the Switch is as successful as it is, there's no real point for Nintendo to keep making them. And the mere existence of the Booster Course Pass is all the more damning.
@westman98 E3 being fully cancelled has been heavily rumoured since mid January so I could see Nintendo having prepared for that outcome.
@CITRONtanker I think Pocket Camp could be safe though that's more a case of what the Animal Crossing team does after Splatoon 3. There may be a situation where Pocket Camp shuts down and its contents appear in New Horizons.
