An amazing direct IMO, especially if you're a JRPG fan. A lot of great surprises as well - did anyone ever guess Mario Strikers, a Wii Sports sequel or...Portal?
Mario Kart 8 DLC (48 tracks!), and included as part of NSO is great. Guess we're not getting a Mario Kart 9 then?
A pinch of salt and all that, here's Nate The Hate's thoughts/predications;
Probably not the Metroid prime remake/remaster, E3 instead.
Triangle Strategy demo
Goldeneye in some form, not sure if its the remaster or just coming to NSO
Advance Wars will be there, but maybe delayed to Q2
Fire Emblem for sure
Final Fantasy pixel remasters released in one big package, for full RRP
Batman Arkham collection
Persona 4
House of the Dead remake
Ninja Turtles Shredder's Revenge (maybe) might be a April indie direct instead
Another retro game collection from Konami, Capcom
Unsure what state Resident Evil 3 revelations is in.
Maybe Monster Hunter DLC
Probably not Hollow Knight Silksong, probably at E3
A sequel to 1-2 Switch nobody wants
Splatoon 3
BOTW 2, MVG doesn't think its coming this year, but it might get a mention. If its at E3 and not this direct, its probably 2022. Maybe another development update coupled to the announcement of Windwaker and Twilight Princess HD coming this year. Nate also thinks it might slip in 2023.
Bayonetta 3 will be an E3 showing
Xenoblade Chronicles 3 has a substantial showing
Another Fire Emblem, remake of Genealogy of the Holy War possibly as well
Some sort of Mario, most likely a sports game
No Kirby 30th anniversary stuff
I continue to be unimpressed by Nate The Hate's predictions. The only ones he got right here are the no-shows and the easy guesses.
Mario kart 8 has been selling really well for the past what, 5 or six years? If anything they might has well turn 8 into 9, as if 9 would have changed much.
Nintendo are like woman, You love them for whats on the inside, not the outside…you know what I mean! Luzlane best girl!
(My friend code is SW-7322-1645-6323, please ask me before you use it)
Good direct. Will get me back in Mario kart 8. Left it for a long while at least playing it online but looking forward to getting back in. A lot of the Mario kart tour courses will be here
We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.
Reviving Wii games with Switch Sports, Klonoa, Mario Strikers? More DLC in NSO+? No Mario Kart 9 because DLC, if anything, makes more sense. I feel like Nintendo follows me on this forum.....
So, about GB(C) on NSO and Switch hardware revisions?
(Edit: yes, I know Klonoa was a PS2 game but my mind just remembers the Wii port)
Good Direct overall but I did loose interest as it went on mainly as I don’t care about Xenoblade. Still Portal, Mario Strikers and Earthbounds so I’m happy and the only way to top that would have been having Chris Pratt.
Nintendo has not stopped making games for me, but I also thank them for making another Fire Emblem Warriors, which I just think is funny that it exists.
I mostly love how many games are coming back that have nothing to do with Nintendo or have never been notably successful. And I mean that unironically, that rules.
Regarding mario kart, I like the series, but im not a die hard fan. I would've certainly purchased MK9 if it was a thing, but I'll probably hold out on dlc. I'm interested to know if die hard fans are happy or upset with the dlc news?
As an rpg fan that Direct was a borderline religious experience.
10/10
Chrono Cross Remastered, check.
Xenoblade Chronicles 3, check.
Front Mission 1&2 Remake, eh...the series ain't my cup of tea, but cool.
Live A Live, would've preferred Terranigma or Treasure Hunter G, but cool.
Portal 1&2, legit two of the best puzzle/platformers ever made.
Klonoa is the most charming 2.5D platformer you'll ever play; never played the sequel though.
Mario Strikers, probably has soccer fans frothing at the mouth with anticipation.
No Man's Sky, I platinumed the game shortly after its launch on PS4; it's constantly in the seasonal awards discussion for best on-going game.
Fire Emblem Warriors, I thought the first game was a 7/10 and Three Hopes looks a bit better.
Switch Physical Collection - 1,537 games (as of December 22nd, 2025)
Switch 2 Physical Collection - 4 games (as of December 8th, 2025)
That was an amazing Direct. I had no real expectations, and still they delivered on them all.
(Well, except for the next Rhythm Heaven game... where is it?!)
The Sports & Xenoblade 3 take the cake, IMO. 48 tracks in MK8 DLC are a surprise, too.
Oh, and what was up with music in that Splatoon 3 demo? I mean, I'm all for the avant-garde, but are they really going with that for the final game? Folks might not understand.
During the live chat, when the cheetah came on during the Kirby section, I meant to type 'hello maam'. What I ended up accidentally typing was 'hello mama'. Just kill me now.
So mario super strikers is gonna have clubs and switch sports will have ranked matches? Why can't they do that for their other online games?
I know it's gameloft and probably a pay to win game, but I'm honestly excited for the disney kart game. I really wanna max out as goofy and run people off the road like a sob.
ALRIGHT! time for my single out of nowhere prediction that no one has mentioned as far as I've seen and that is........
Three Houses Warriors - A brand new Warriors game that takes place during the second part of the Three Houses story with new alternate possible endings. You can choose any of the three houses and those will be your characters for the story mode. They may even add a new character who isn't in the original (maybe a time traveler or something).
@Fizza
Nintendo Switch Sports was also disappointing me. 😑
No Boxing on it and I don't like soccer at all.
Only 6 Sports available, that was very disappointing as Nintendo Switch has enough power to put at least 20 different sports with Boxing on it.
This is pretty hilarious. We got 2 more 2017 sequel games: Fire Emblem Warriors 2 and Xenoblade 3. We already had Splatoon 3, Mario+Rabbids 2, and BotW 2.
