My predictions/hopes for the next Direct: 1. A new trailer for Kirby and the Forgotten Land (it's been 4 months, I just want to see more of what this game has to offer). 2. A long dormant DS/Wii era frachise making a comeback (I can't list all of the possibilities here but it would be really nice to see a dead franchise resurrected, like Golden Sun, Meteos and Rhythm Heaven (ok that last one may be a stretch to call 'dead' yet). On that note however...). 3. A new Punch Out handled by Next Level Games (I fell in love with Punch Out over lockdown and seeing a new one would make me the happiest thing alive. Also, NLG are now owned by Nintendo. PLUS a Punch Out Wii reference made it into LM3. AND the Switch immediately has 2 controllers out the gate, making it easy for motion controlled action like in the Wii days, along with the option for buttons. Please and thank you). 4. Splatoon 3 news (what @Grumblevolcano said + a Splatoon Direct announcement). 5. Mario Kart 9 (tharr be rumours about, matey).
And lastly: 6. Modern Ace Attorney Trilogy, aka Apollo Justice, Spirit of Justice and the Investigations games (I JUST WANT TO BELIEVE. Also, never played them before and I really want to after playing the original trilogy).

@VoidofLight That's probably going to be a follow up to the main series though, right? Phoenix Wright, Apollo Justice, that kind of stuff? If so, there'll be no (legitimate) way to play the games for 3DS (plus the spinoffs on DS) on modern platforms. That's why I said I was hoping for a new trilogy; to bridge the gap between them for simpletons like me who's first exposure was through the collections on Switch. Then again, it could also be TGAA 3 considering how they just localized the first 2 last year, anything's possible. OR they could pull the rug from underneath us and it's actually Maya Fey: Master Medium (I've only played the original trilogy, please don't say if that contradicts with anything established in later games, thank you).

@Fizza As much as I would absolutely love a Great Ace Attorney 3, things are looking Grim, since the game originally sold poorly in Japan. So poorly that they had to condense the trilogy they planned into two games, leading to some plot-lines that either were rushed, or never really touched upon. It's a shame though, since the setting was great, and I really enjoyed the characters. I'd die to see more Sherlock Holmes.
I really do think they should release a Trilogy of the other 3 games though, since then it'll be great for everyone that wants to experience the original 6 on switch... but the data leak never mentioned a second trilogy.

@Blooper987 Ah, then my bad. I didn't actually see the whole thing, and just heard about the Monster Hunter Rise and Stories stuff, as well as GAA and Ace Attorney 7.

@NinChocolate well there's 100% chance there will be 3pm in the UK this week and when there's 3pm in the UK there is a possability of a Direct announcement maybe being made. ;p
I’d say we probably won’t get a direct in the first month of the year, since we haven’t lately unless it was a direct mini or a huge presentation like the switch presentation from 2017.

We need a direct now, it's ages since the last one.
I wish we could have one every other month, and that they announced all the dates a year in advance.
@VoidofLight Although it would spice up an otherwise uneventful month (PLA doesn't really count since it's more of a February game than a January one in my eyes). It would also be completely unexpected since the first Direct of the year is almost always February. 2018 got funky with March but most of the time that's what it is (and granted, that March Direct was eventful to put it mildly), making it really exciting if a January one were to happen.

Yeah January feels slow... :/ But then it always does. So I don't expect an earlier Direct than usual. February it is. Most of it will be about previously announced games anyway no? Kirby and such. Here's hoping for 1-2 major new announcements.
I think the maintenance is the biggest hope for a Direct this month, namely announce tomorrow and air on Wednesday with the maintenance happening early Thursday morning. I'd go with 40% chance of Wednesday, 60% chance of the week after Legends Arceus launch (February 2nd/3rd).
