@TheJGG I'm the same with movies to LOL. My god all the great games we have would be gone, I mean we wouldn't even have hades or among us.

@Snatcher Oh yeah, Among Us has some violence too. Nonetheless the self regulation Anti has is unusual to himself and vastly unfair to his next of kin. If he treats their media habits the same as he does his own, they’ll grow up sheltered, and unaware.

There’s so many lessons that can’t be taught at school. Things like books, movies and video games act as another teacher and an arbiter of knowledge and moral.

I still remembered 20 years ago, when i was still Senior High School student, i stay away from my classmates, only want to communicate with some nice students because during on that time, almost every boy students in my school played rated 18+ shooting games and i really hate them.
I have natural dislikeness about rated 18+ games since from young.
I think i was so lucky to be a completely different people who stand up against the thousand students in my school.

Btw, i tend to getting close relationship with teachers in my school rather than with my classmates (even during recess i like to pay visit in front of teacher's room sometimes i want to have some chit chat with certain teachers rather than gathering around with my classmates) because i hate the stereotype when being a teenager (smoking, being impolite to teacher / older peoples, thinking romance too early, get into 18+ things, made a bad guy club, etc)

I'll put this way - kids playing teens and older games online should expect to come across violent actions, profanity and curses and cyberbulling(which should be reported to the site moderator support to be addressed). If your not going to teach your kids these issue then gaming is the least of your problems.

@Anti-Matter Hey I'm not saying 18+ games are good for 8 year olds its really up to the parent, but I don't think you can just get rid of fortnight and risk even more bullying, furthermore she didn't even ask that, she ask how we can limit who they talk two bc she dose not want them talking to adults, she just wanted to know how she can make then talk only to there class mates, Which is why I think the discord idea is great.

I understand both sides here, but all in all, i feel this site/forum should go as a good example and respect the rules, therefor dont reply/help with questions that clearly isnt within the guidelines.
Not gonna tell her what is right on this subject. But if you think from a psychologist point of view, its not healthy.

It's sad that children always need to conform and be the same as everyone else in order to avoid being bullied... And some even saying children shouldn't play different games to others!

How about we encourage children to be their unique selves and schools actually punish the bullies? 🤔

@Clyde_Radcliffe It seems to happen more in public schools than anything. In a public school children from all kinds of backgrounds congregate and because the education is state sponsored all kinds of economic situations too.

From experience bullies usually do what they do out of jealousy. This jealousy comes from a deep seated arrogance, or a damaging insecurity. Two children getting bullied over not having a headset for Fortnite is jarring. It reflects badly on the bullies of course because why would you mock someone over such a trivial thing?

Doing something like banning Fortnite is not a solution because it could lead to more social pressure. The two children will no doubt get mocked for not playing the game, because I guess at the moment it’s considered the cool game for people their age.

I remember when people tried to convince me to get the game, they tried all different angles. They knew I’m selective about violence in games so they said it had no violence. I said I didn’t like shooting games, or online multiplayer and that was that.

Of course the solution varies person to person but I don’t want to play the wildly popular games like... Fortnite, Among Us, Fall Guys... not for me at all.

Huh, I guess that situation hasn't really improved since I was at school, then ....

@TheJGG Only thing is, 9 and 8 year olds can’t legally have a discord account. Sure people do it all the time, but.. they put any server their in at a liability of being terminated for breaking tos.
