I have a very important question: one time I played Doom for the switch on a smart TV and the framerate actually looked around the 60fps mark. I'm not kidding. It was not a stable 60fps but I was shocked. How come this happened? It happened with all my other 30fps switch games too... It was pretty incredible to see the game running so smoothly.

Wasn’t sure if this applied to you guys too or not. Looks like it doesn’t.
Your television may be processing the footage at a higher frame rate via means of motion interpolation (look it up). This means that your TV may be creating additional frames in every even-numbered frame by combining the actual current frame and the frame preceding it to fill in the gaps. Bear in mind that this can result in a lot of distortion and other visual anomalies (I imagine some monsters, especially the more agile ones, such as imps, will look quite distorted when in motion).
I would rather preserve the integrity of the video and audio as much as possible when it comes to games and film, but it takes all kinds, I suppose. Personally, I find this technique to be ineffective and incredibly distracting.
I suppose it might not look so bad when converting the original footage to double the frame rate, but I imagine that converting 30fps footage to, say, 120fps, would make it look substantially worse, because then you only have one authentic frame for every three blended/fake frames, and automated techniques such as these won't work miracles.

Ive made similar types of comments and got that response. Just wanted to make sure the selective forum rules are followed by the moderators as well.
@Link-Hero Yeah, I knew the TV couldn't actually increase framerate which is why I was so confused considering how smooth it appeared to be. I probably should have worded my post better haha.
